Mexican isn’t an language it’s a race, as well as Cuban. Spanish is Spanish universal by the demographic with rhythmic intonation, each section of Latin America and South American in general have their own dialect making it harder to distinguish from merely a comic standpoint

Just in the point, better leave a neutral/standar spanish, each country have a lot of modism who could complicate another spanish speaker (even less chances for a non spanish speaker to understand) 😅

The world has tons of dialects and tones used i mean thank god this isn’t in chinese, between over 40 dialects we wouldn’t know jack shit. The Spanish seems out of place in an way though just for Alex and Diego to correspond in their own father/ son way but in reality the don’t really need it

EVERY inmigrant family speaks their native language among them when they are not with strangers. Heck they even do it in front of strangers when they argue. I think is a good thing Husky decided to give this comic that little something of cultural variety.

my opinion while bias: my grandparents and even my aunt and mother do that in italian whenever they talk or even bicker. it is an good notion relaying the cultural aspects into the story, however for an primarily English speaking and reading fanbase, people can get an little backtracked needing to see the translation of the comic in the description. the only reason i was able to finish his discontinued "eye of the stars" comic was because i was taught to read italian thanks to my uncle(RIP)

I don't know about you, but many of my Hispanic american friends have told me in an informal way that they speak Chilean, Argentinean and such. They know it's Spanish, but the differences between the Spanish spoken in each of the countries is not negligible and they reference it informally like this sometimes, instead of saying "The Spanish that is spoken in Chile or Argentina" all the time.

And I was talking about the idioms. Mexican and Cuban are ways of speak the same Spanish but they differ a lot

We have a very rich language, I would say that between countries we understand eachother and we also disturb eachother with some of our own "local expressions".
Even inside Spain, people from the south have an extremely peculiar way of talking, sometimes for me is even easier to understand people talking portugese, or someone from South America than guys from the south (people from Cádiz for example.)

I rather he just stick back to Italian than switch to Spanish. When they talk in a different language that what is was. At this point I don't see the point in switching to Spanish unless he going to go back and change those dialog. Even then, still.

I like he does the comic in defferent languages. It gives more character to the characters (pun) and highlights their diversity. If they spoke all the time in English it would be a plain dull English college themed comic. Besides it’s time English speakers learn other languages. The rest of the world has to understand English. They won’t die of brain overload because they had to learn a couple of words in Spanish. I played super robot taisen and I had to learn romanji to choose the attacks...

2nd balloon: -"Dónde quieres almorzar?" --> adonde is not exactly wrong but I think you can't use it there.

3rd panel
1st balloon: ¿Qué? ¿Pero no lo odiabas?
2nd balloon: Sí, pero a tí te encanta.
4th balloon: Si, a veces. No estoy comiendo mucho últimamente. (More natural and means just "Sometimes, yeah. I'm not eating eat much lately")

4th panel
1st balloon: ¿Quieres bajar de peso, viejo?
2nd balloon: Bueno... sí, de hecho estoy a dieta... (exactly this: "Well... yeah, yes. I'm on a diet, actually...")
3rd balloon: ¿En serio? // (If you want it longer you can also say) --> ¿Hablas en serio?
4th balloon: Dejé el gluten y esas mierdas (Ok this one may be too much from Spain since we use more "bad words" than in Latin America) To stop eating something we just use "dejar" (leave). I believe that someone else can find a more neutral thing for this one.

5th balloon: ¿Qué? ¿tú? /// It's not bad, you can say this in many many ways.
6th balloon: más (without the "´" that word means "but")

2nd balloon: Pues claro que lo sé!! ahm es... uh // Ok, this one was perfect the way it is but I find funnier the English one so this way is more accurate
3rd balloon: Aguántate // I love that expresion don't know from wich country is it, you can also say "Espera" or "Un momento" but I wouldn't change it

Father-son relation: a bit difficult sometimes, but so important.
Also, I love when they talk Spanish, don't have too much problem to read it
