Well, since you asked, I typically enjoy music with a noticeable beat and few lyrics, such as Techno, Electronica, 8-bit, and the like. I like crazy sounds. However, I also find myself drawn to stuff like Alternative Rock whenever I feel like singing along horribly with a song.
Oh, and I love pianos and violins! Anything involving those instantly becomes awesome in my book.

And as for rap I agree with you, but I actually really like Will Smith's Fresh Prince era stuff, it's a rare form of silly, funny rap, plus he did a rap about being attacked by Freddy Kreuger which was freaking great.
