Commission informationYo. I've been drawing at conventions since 1998 and I'm not tired yet. I love drawing fun stuff that keeps me entertained and I love making people smile with the end results. Anytime the subject comes up I will explain how I view myself not necessarily as an artist, but as an entertainer. What gets me motivated when drawing is to depict characters who are living in the moment, engaged in some sort of activity that is a unique expression of who they are. I design characters professionally and have been doing it for folks here and at conventions all the time. I endeavor to follow the reference material I'm presented but will also gladly help define the look of your character from scratch if you'd like to discuss a commission along those lines.
Listed below are the types of commissions I do most often, but I can also do variants of the concepts like refined model sheets useful for commission and costume turnaround references, along with digital avatar icons. Eventually I'll be offering Telegram sticker packs once I settle on an appropriate price point.
The prices I list below are current as of August 1, 2024. I don't know how long they'll stay at this level as I'm still trying to balance out how fast I can work vs how much income I need to pay my bills.
Please consider the following when approaching me about commissions:
Most of my FA gallery consists of commissions I've done in the past for people at conventions. My gallery shows the type and quality of work you can expect from me. My content is effectively all-ages friendly, and comfortably within a PG-13 rating. I might touch on some R rated material in terms of violence, but rarely and most likely in the context of cartoon violence. Feel free to ask me for specifics as I appreciate the communication. Again, take a look at my gallery because if you don't see anything there that approaches what you're looking for then it's probably because I don't draw it.
I *can* draw props and background elements, but it's not my forte and might result in me asking for additional cost if it's integral to your idea.
I can also do purely digital art. Consider all the options I list below to have digital equivalents if that is your preference. I find that I can draw better with pencil and paper than on my tablet, but I have the tools and experience to do either if it makes a difference.
When I do commissions I enjoy streaming the progress live at this address:
https://picarto.tv/ToonFoxTV
If you would like to tune in and watch your picture being created please let me know in advance and I'll work out a schedule and begin when you're available.
Anything I create will normally be freely shareable by you in person or via digital options. I reserve the right to share the work for my own promotion although I can be flexible if you'd like me to hold off until a certain time period. Sometimes I might rework the idea into a future print or merchandise piece although this is very rare and I would certainly discuss it with you first.
Payment:
Unless I've worked with you in the past and we've established a baseline of trust I need to get paid in advance via Paypal. Once the work begins you can make comments about the progress but I'll be talking with you extensively in advance so that we're both in agreement about what will be created. There shouldn't be any surprises, especially if you're watching along as I work. If you aren't watching while I work I'll send a sketch of the progress and make any necessary adjustments. Once I get past the drawing stage there won't be any corrections possible.
I'm really going to be trying hard to get commissions done promptly, hopefully within a week of agreement. This may need to be flexible as it's based on my current anticipation rather than practical observation... I'll update this section accordingly as time goes by.
In the end the reason I've been doing commissions for so long is because it's fun. I love entertaining people and I want to continue doing that for a long time to come. Let's come up with fun ideas together and have a good time. |

Full page character sketch explorationsThis is all about making a bunch of different drawings of your character on a single sheet of 8.5 x 11" 110 lb cardstock. Sometimes full-body, sometimes just a head shot, sometimes inbetween. Whatever I can come up with that reflects who your character is without the overhead of trying to make a super-finished cleanup or colored rendering. This could be just the thing to serve as an inspiration board for future commission references where you want to show how your character would react to a sudden fit of the giggles, or maybe they just stubbed their toe, or they are quietly JUDGING YOU with an intense glare.
You tell me what you'd like to see, or you can just give me a general sense of the character's personality and I'll run with it. I really delight in nuanced gestures and facial expressions so this should be a fun thing to look forward to.

Convention badgePrice is for a single character. Minor additional characters possible, but space is EXTREMELY limited.
Drawn on 4 x 3" 110 lb cardstock paper, in full color using Copic brand markers and white colored pencil highlights as needed.
This is essentially the normal full color option but shrunk down to a close up body / head shot with the characters name featured. Let's jam on an idea that expresses your character's personality as shown in an interesting storytelling moment. I'll give 'em a unique bit of body language that gives a fun action / reaction.
Considerations need to be made with regards to the size and presentation of the name. You could opt to go without the name altogether if you'd like. Minor props are fine as well as costuming details -WITHIN REASON, please. Backgrounds will be minimal.
When finished I'll email a 600 dpi scan of the image to you and for the additional price of shipping I'll mail out the original drawing and the inked page, including a high quality plastic badge holder which has an alligator clip you can use with lanyards. The price will depend on the destination and level of delivery priority (Priority mail within the US is $11.90 which usually delivers in 2-3 days, has a tracking number and $50 in insurance. The same delivery to Canada is $26.90). |
