I've never used the program so this is a shot in the dark. But maybe there's a setting that auto makes a new save folder for each new project that you do? Kinda like Steam where you can change the general directory for the games you download

That's what it looks like, I just have no clue how to change it, or how it happened in the first place :'D

I'm not sure why that happens but if you're using an antivirus you could try to whitelist paint tool sai program, I had avast blocking me from saving all together

I'd try launching SAI with administrator privilege, but if that doesn't do it I have two suspicions. One would be that the initial folder or file is protected either by read-only setting or anti ransomware protection, so it saves as a new file somewhere else automatically for some reason instead of telling you about it. The other would be that for some reason it has lost the absolute address to the folder when it's trying to use a shortcut like "my documents" instead of the whole thing starting with "c:". So to try if it's any of those two I'd make a new folder in C:\Test and move the project there and see if works.

Very weird issue. But I remember a lot of weirdness when I used SAI when I started drawing. It's not well coded.
