This'll be a long journal; fair warning. There's been a bit of stuff going on.
*
Guess it should be noted first and foremost that the recent watchers to my account here have not gone unnoticed. I really kind of find it hard to believe that the number has now ticked up to two hundred twenty-seven of you that somehow decide I'm worth your time to watch on this site, so something I do must peak your interests. I do enjoy that there's a small modest audience out there who wants to peek at my sketchbooks and drawings that I infrequently upload because my motivation is ass and every time I look at what is left I just get discouraged and put it off for a bit longer.
Speaking of art uploads, you probably also noticed I put more things up here, and actually finished the content of one of my large books, so now it'll be on to book number two in the near future and begin uploading from that.
Here is where I'm confident that I'll start making progress through the years, because this next book I started drawing in two thousand fourteen...fifteen...sixteen, and then really dramatically slowed down as my interest in art waned severely and the last page wasn't drawn in until two thousand twenty-one. This will also force me to actually take the damn thing apart because after a significant piece of art that I really really really was proud of, I never got around to scanning it but kept drawing in the book, so there's been nothing scanned past a certain point in two thousand sixteen that'll drag the uploads of my personal art down to a stop for a while as I have to get proper scans of everything to upload.
On the topic of uploads, well, looks like its been so long since I last posted everything that FurAffinity plugged the workaround being able to bypass the upload limit for art pieces, so my arm got twisted into buying in for five dollars to FurAffinity+ in order to continue posting my art pieces at their fullest sizes possible.
I hope you all appreciate that.

For the entire month of December I'm on vacation off of work as I burn down my annual leave to a lesser amount that's able to be carried over into the following year. This means I was able to go to Midwest Fur Fest and be that extra person that pushed the attendance to '13,641' which is complete insanity in terms of a furry convention attendance.
Think about it, for that one weekend, the convention complex and its surrounding hotels were equivalent to a small town, not to mention all of the supporting personnel running the place.
Midwest Fur Fest went...well...fine. But it didn't start out that way, in fact, it started off just abysmal. A certified god damn disaster really when myself, Strega, and our two random's picked up off ConRoomies met at the DoubleTree. Things are going fine as we check into the room, make introductions, what our characters are, and get to know one another.
My best is one of them, @KomoliRihyoh, didn't care that Strega's primary interest was in vore, but never fucking bothered to tell any of us this was upsetting to him.
So, unaware that there was any sort of problems in my room group, I left the convention complex hopping on a Blue Line L to venture further into Chicago for a place called Logan Square, because as I have done for the past couple of years before the convention really kicks off, I stop off for pizza at a place called The Boiler Room under the tracks, and then walk down Milwaukee Avenue to a place called Emporium, a pinball bar.
Great!
The train arrives, and I get off to street level, cross the road and... The Boiler Room pizza is closed. Permanently. The owners gave up on the business and its last day was a MERE WEEK before I'd arrived as they closed before Thanksgiving.
Well fuck.
So then I look at my phone for something else around the area, and start noticing that there's a stack of messages in the MFF room share group on Telegram, that Komoli Rihyoh posted messages that "I can't stay here, I'm leaving, and I didn't pay my share of the room".
WHAT THE FUCK.
So just like that my fourth roomshare that I was counting on and hoping would be there, has just fucked off for somewhere else. What was the problem? Couldn't tell you. The fucking ass blocked me off Telegram when I asked what the problems were and he refused to talk to me ever again. Well god damn it, now what am I going to do? Because the con is kicked off underway and pretty much everyone that has been looking for a room has one, and now with just three of us the cost share per person is going to go up, and the remaining two have ALREADY PAID ME.
So I start doing the legwork like you wouldn't believe. Contacting anyone and everyone I knew who was also at this con if they in turn knew of anyone who was needing a roomshare, because I could provide such, RIGHT...NOW. All of this while I'm out eating pizza in Chicago.
And low and behold... Dax Deer comes through, somehow knowing a fur who was attempting to sleep the entire con in his car in the parking garage. Thanks to his help, disaster was averted as we welcomed a fourth new fur into my room and everything went great from then on.
Komoli, fuck you. Whoever the fuck you are, fuck you. I hope you realize what an astonishing dick move that was you pulled bailing out on me without even talking or mentioning whatever the issues was and then blocking me on Telegram because you can't front up about it. Fuck you. My door is open because I refuse to block anyone so you want to give some explanation, I'm waiting for it.
So with that shit settled, I took a walk down to Emporium, where more disappointment awaited because I pulled on the door and...its locked. The place is closed with people inside and none of them are willing to open it. So I stand outside and wait and then another group of three friends try to enter it as well. Still locked. Come to find out the place is closed for some ticketed event and filming of some backroom boxing brawl in the place and they won't open doors until eleven PM. Its ONLY eight PM right now. Like fucking hell I'm just waiting around for three hours to play pinball.
This whole first night has been just abysmal. I headed back by train to the convention complex and decided to wait in the hour and a half long vaccination check line so I could get my badge and be done with that since there was little else to do.
The rest of MFF?
Worked out fine. I got my sketchbook back from Gideon who'd been keeping hold of it since last year's MFF for a commission, picked up a werewolf challenge coin from Inanimorphs/TransformARTive, got one sketchbook and one takehome art from Psychoseby, will be getting a new badge from Gravewalker as a takehome, and just in general got to meet and greet a ton of furs and friends that I'd only ever able to see at this one event.
Really my only complaint was that by Saturday night and into Sunday when my groove was just being found at the con...well, it was wrapping up and time to end. I'd check on FA later and find journal posts from others I follow that also said they were in attendance, but I never even saw them once. Oh well.
*
What followed after MFF was instead of coming home I detoured south into Louisville to get picked up and spend a week with my family in Kentucky, as they'd recently moved out of Greenville and now live in Raywick at a different house as the hundred year old farm house that they were living in was actively deteriorating from under them for some strange reason.
The new place is extremely quiet, so far removed from civilization and down a meandering rural country road that it takes some effort to actually get there. No traffic noise, no train noises, really not much of anything. I'd like to say that we went and did tourist looking things but honestly the only events we did were the Lights Under Louisville cave drive, and the Bluegrass Railroad Museum in Versailles for their Christmas train. The rest of my time was spent drawing in my sketchbook working on a four page comic for teasing a friend, and then catching a cold and falling sick the remainder of it and kind of feeling awful.
Nevertheless, it was worth the detour, and I flew home a week later. Ironically my flight from Louisville went back to Chicago before Los Angeles, and with MFF still vividly memorable it felt strange being in the airport feeling like there should be other furs present, but no, everyone had long since departed now.

There's also job advancement things to talk about.
Work is still going okay, but as an '802 Engineering Technician' the only career path up is to become a '2101 Airway Transportation System Specialist'. And where I work, there's about to be a massive shakeup in personnel.
'Red' is in such a shit divorce with his wife that she stole his house from him and he's planning on moving to Oklahoma.
'JO' is thinking about retiring.
'Kenny' is accepting a senior technician advancement to Edwards Air Force Base.
So we're about to lose three certified technicians, and here having bided my time there for the better part of six or seven years since winning my federal job back, I felt that now was as good as any time to express my interest in advancement except I've been told that I cannot attain a '2101' where I work, but instead have to accept a job transfer to Edwards for it.
This isn't a huge detriment. Palmdale is twenty minute drive to the south, Edwards is a thirty minute drive to the north. So I got the ball rolling on this and it progressed from an interview with the facility manager, to then accepting a tentative offer letter, to then submitting background checks, fingerprinting records, and so on until finally when I was on vacation in Kentucky, I filed for and accepted the firm offer letter acknowledging the change of position.
I'll become effectively a '2101 Airway Transportation System Specialist' come the new year on January first, and with it a massive pay increase over what I'm making now, though that was never the original intent or goal of the promotion; I'm mostly after the title but the government just willingly throws money at everything for any reason so if they want to pay me what they offer, fine that's on them.
So that's what I get to look forward to in the next coming weeks after Painted Desert Fur Con over New Years. Adapting to a new schedule, new work environment, new coworkers at a much much much quieter facility, and learning new equipment and devices that may entail me making some frequent training trips out to Oklahoma City again as the need arises.
Whether this will affect my ability to go to cons remains to be seen but you can bet I'll still try.
*
And...I think that about covers it all. The four key points that have occurred or are set to.
Leave comments and favorites on the art pieces you like; I enjoy the interaction.

Congrats on the new job title, glad you have it secured. Sucks to hear about Komoli. Great to hear you caught up with your parents at their new place and enjoyed MFF nonetheless.
