Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC: Buy or Bust?
A few of my friends are aware, but for those that aren't, I got Nintendo Switch fund cards on Christmas to use on the current Pokemon games, Scarlet and Violet, to obtain their DLC, the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk. Obviously enough, judging by my string of Pokemon-related posts on my FA, I am quite the Pokemon fan! And so this DLC caught my interest.
When Scarlet and Violet came out, the games got quite a bit of flack. I personally only encountered a few issues with the games, one of which being the low frame rate issue around Casseroya Lake specifically, but other than that I never had those weird glitchy issues like the warped player model on the back of Koraidon or Miraidon (Game depending), or the weird arm glitches during selfie shots. Really, while the games aren't perfect (such as some Noivern outbreak locations spawning them in the mountainsides and rocks), I think these games are fantastic. While open-world scaling could've and should've also been a thing too, the ability to go anywhere and do anything is what sold me on the games.
So that brings me to the next part: The DLC. I have only one single rule for DLC- a game's base content should be able to stand on its own first and foremost. That's it. That is my DLC rule. If a game's base game is fun and engaging, I will buy DLC. Total War Warhammer 2 for example is a great game that stands on its own without DLC, but buying the DLC enhances an already enjoyable experience (Wish I could say the same for Warhammer 3 though, but that's a talk for later).
After playing through the Teal Mask and being almost done with the Indigo Disk at the time of typing this, I can definitely say and express my opinion of the DLC for this game being very much worth it. I've been having such a blast personally, especially in the Indigo Disk area, the Terrarium. It's been a fun and engaging challenge in the Indigo Disk DLC too, since -all- trainer battles in that area are Double Battles, which I am by no means trained or strategized towards. Additionally, the Elite 4 of that game uses competitive movesets and held items, adding to the already-tough experience. Not to mention of course a few of my favorite Pokemon making their return in the DLC! Such as Mightyena and Mienshao. <3 <3 <3
I would go more in-depth with my review, but I don't want to run the risk of potentially making spoilers for those that have been wanting the DLC, but don't have it yet. But that is the sum of my review! :3

The music was worth the price of admission alone

Heh. When I do my reviews and evaluations of games though, music is generally rated low points. Not because music is bad, but, because I can use Youtube to listen to the music whenever without needing to spend money. Although you are correct! For sure. Pokemon music generally never fails.
