Should I stay or should I go?

Dragoneer seems to be of the mind that "Hey you know what, so this stuff's illegal but as long as no one notices it's fine and it's not illegal in the USA so I don't need to do anything"
After consulting with someone who said "If you have to hang out on a child pornography board to get attention you should re-evaluate" - I came to the conclusion that you know, he's right. There's Furocity and Artspots and other gallery sites that don't allow paedophilia - event eh newly resurrected artpiles.com (Currently in beta and still more functional than FA's ailing back end).
It's a pain. I have a fan base here and I get traffic here and there's over 200 of my images up.
But is any of that worth the possibility of going to prison or being labelled a sex offender for the rest of my life because I'm hanging around on Fur Affinity?
I don't want to leave and I know that if I stood up and said "I'mma gonna go unless you make changes" the FA staff will pretty much look blank an go "Yeah OK, bye" and go back to what they're doing. I'm not A-lost, or even B-list. Nobody really gives a flying fuck if I pull my art out and upload it to another site.

Wouldn't it be a -much- simpler solution to use FA's setting to block mature images, and avoid watching artists who do Mature/Adult cub stuff in case they slip up and forget to mark a new submission properly?
One could leave the filter off, exclude cub-porning artists from the watchlist, and not use FA's "Browse".
But turning off Mature is the safest way to stay 'round these parts.
Use something like Anonymizer to cover one's tracks -- but depending on how paranoid the relevant UK government snoops are, using such a service might in itself arouse suspicion.
Computer confiscation? Maybe. You're not exactly in a pedo-ring (unless you ARE, but I don't think so) you're just on FA.
Gutter press, you can claim liable. And honestly, it's the gutter press. I've seen the Sun et al. Anyone reading and accepting that stuff is not someone who you should care about.
If you lost income for a reason that is the fault of someone else (ie the police raid your gaff because your ISP said "this person was on FA") you can claim that back.
I also considered a few times about leaving FA, but I have way too many friends here, and we all together stay away from the furry shit and drama, and just do our own thing to have fun, so we are safe.
I may not comment much on your art, but I appreciate it, all the same. Good fortune and good tea, wherever you may end up.
Personally, I think nothing will come of it, and sooner or later they'll be someone else in charge who adjusts the law, or it fades into obscurity as far as only vaguely-related things are concerned. Politics are pretty much the same the world over in that respect. :)
Where do you think this country's government is going these days?
I'm not exactly resting easy on my own side of the pond. I have a feeling something similar could happen here.
I seriously hope we find a way to keep FA available in Europe without starting the whole "freedom of speech vs. foreign laws" debate all over again, so please be a bit patient before packing your bags.
it's your opinion if you want to leave... as long as i can hear from you i'ts okay ^^
And leaving FA because of a "guilt by association" angle is kind of like leaving the entire internet because there's illegal porn somewhere on it.
Do what you feel you have to. Myself, I have thought about it, and have decided to stay. I don't draw furry child porn, so my conscience is clear.
Plus since I refuse to draw cub art, it again, doesn't effect me. Admittedly there is some seriously sick shit here on FA, and i will go out of my way to avoid it. I also don't friend/watch the people that do.
Or for instance if you're looking at someone's gallery and hitting the next button and *POP* there it is.
Just sayin.
It's not fair, and it's not right, but it doesn't matter. The thought police have won in your country, and you need to act in your best interests.
Don't feel you'll have to leave for very long. It's only a matter of time before the thought police will make it too legally dangerous for Furaffinity to continue hosting such content. Their ability to do so hangs on a tenuous thread as it is, and the thought cops won't stop trying here as long as they see victories in places like the UK, Canada, and Australia.
I think its sad that the UK has passed such restrictive laws; The realm of imagination should be a place to roam at will. As Rabbitboy3 says the thought police are running pretty wild right now. I would suggest lobbing against them but if FA becomes a risk to your livelihood or likely to cause legal problems then I at least would recommenced leaving.
I would however be sorry to see you go.
Warning: Do NOT use Bit Torrent or any other peer-to-peer software. You can never know what other people are using your computer to transmit, and that stuff will be on your hard drive.
Whatever you decide, update folks like me so we can follow. I, for one, do not want to see you go. But what I want and feel is not what is likely best for you.
If you are browsing the internet and some pop up comes up and redirects you to an ad showing content your country deems inappropriate by some whimsical law they passed.... then if they didn't take the measures to block it, they can't prosecute and win. Unless you are in a communist country, which last I saw you weren't.
They passed a law whoopy. So where's this government paid group that does nothing but sniff traffic inside your borders all day? Oh that's right you don't have one. Though they could plan and set one up in the future. The law is there primarily so when someone is caught doing something legitimately illegal they can use that to add to the sentence. It also gives your friend, the one you just pissed off, the ability to report you just because he's pissed.

You don't have any loli/shota art up on FA that I know of.....Or that I at least remember. What are you concerned about, since that's the focus of the law that was passed?
