An Enlongated response to thie Jounal Entry: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/15276/
You know, thist could probably explain why since I've started posting my art here, I have about 100 favs, but very few comments about my art in comparison. I've never understood the whole holier then thou attitude of some people I've talked to. Not gonna single out artists on that one cause trust me, plenty of non-artists can act that way too. I understand the art theft deals but think it covers too broad a range of scenarios. I'm sorry, but if you post a picture on the net for free and someone reposts it elsewhere, it's not theft.
It's a true shame cause I do like to meet the people that like my work. I like to hear what people like about my art, and what people think I could fix. I know I come across as rude half the time because I don't use smileys. If you go through my previous journal entries and submissions, I did use them then. But I decided that I wanted to be taken a bit more seriously. Can't get that effect if I'm all smiles and googly eyes.
So please, feel free to comment on my art. Praise and critisize. In no way do I mean scour the picture for every little thing that could be considered a mistake and point it out. But if you notice something you think I overlooked, then please, by all means, let me know.
PM me if you you wanna ask me something or even just chat a bit. I listed my AIM, YIM and EMail so you guys could use it.

I admit that I can go a bit overboard when it comes to receiving comments, but that's usually because those comments are shit like "OMFG U SUXORZ U SHULD DIE & NOT DRAW ANYMORE!!!" or something. I can handle constructive criticism, but I refuse to listen to people who bitch for bitching's sake. It's because I can tell those apart that keeps me from secluding myself like some other artists do. Such a shame that they can't tell the difference, either.
I like recieving comments, and I try to respond to all of them that are more than just "cool pic", and I even try to respond to at least most of those as well. However, sometimes I will respond to a comment, and the person will reply back, and in very short term, the user begins to try and turn the conversation towards 'lets chat on AIM' or mirc, or something more extensive. At this point, I am presented with either saying no, and looking like an ass, or getting on to chat with someone I might just not have time or desire to get closer to.
Sometimes I do move the conversation to chat. Sometimes I don't. I've made some good friends this way, and I'm sure I've missed out on a few too. But if I tried to give EVERY new person to message me the full attention they want, I would have to ignore the friends I already have.
And that isn't fair.
So people get their feelings hurt sometimes. They wanted to be friends, or at least hold a long conversation, and I simply didn't have the time. They might see me conversing with another user elsewhere and think I singled them out to ignore them. This isn't the case, but still, it might make them sad.
This makes me sad, and I have considered not responding to ANY comments rather than risk hurting the ones I don't reply to. I know some artists who ARE reclusive and unresponsive BECAUSE they had one too many person take their simple declining of the offer of friendship as some sort of personal offense.
But then some people don't just get sad. They decide I'm an asshole, and feel the need to tell me so. They might feel the need to speak to me like Synjo here spoke to Garyu.
This does not make me sad, it makes me, and most artists, angry. Because at this point, the user has been an asshole, and is kinda deserving of it if they get treated as such.
Look at Synjo's comment right here. In the second sentence, he calls the people he was so "polite and courteous" to, idiots. His manner of speech right here is not in any way even or calm, it is openly hostile and condescending. He might not MEAN it to be, but that is how it will most likely be seen by the people he is speaking to.
And, just as a general rule of thumb for Synjo: if it is your personal opinion that anyone who wishes to have control over where their work is seen is a whiner and an idiot, you are very likely to not ever have good experiences with many artists. A great deal of artists are really nice and great people, but take their work seriously, and personally hold value to it, and consider it offensive and disrespectful to do with their work what they expressly ask not to be done.
