Yea, I was reading them and was like "Yea, that's true"
And the ones like "Learn to draw anatomy (or someshit) before attempting porn" I kinda agree with even if I can't tell people what they can and can't draw.
Yea it does.. That's the thing I really disliked about it, trying to force humor into it got annoying and honestly made some of them sound rather hostile.
But then again I guess I'm not that hard hearted of a person as I'm easy to upset somewhat. Oh well :U
Krhainos and I don't actually believe in the majority of 'advice' submitted. Like I don't care what subject matter you draw, but the site was never meant to be an actual basis of real art advice. There is some actual advice sprinkled here and there but our intention was never to be serious.
It's stupid on purpose. The amount of people taking it seriously is a bit concerning but it was expected. :P
I mean furry has a lot of silly things going for it but at least be humorous about it rather than nervously laugh at any negative statement in hopes for acceptance from the general crowd
such negative crap does not a better artist make. critique is a process by which good things are pointed out and the negative is given with options to correct and improve. not by saying shit like that.
I am just concerned because such bitterness that is in the ones already on the site could cause some artists to go away before they could be properly encouraged and taught. they usually learn these things later in life as the progress but such negative "advice" seems counterproductive, and seeing as you are talking about the hatorade pouring out of the monitor i guess it did encourage the wrong element. i sometimes greatly grieve for the amount of hate in the world.
also it implies that there's all kinds of rules for art and cartoons which is completely small minded
the only one on there is really like is 'composition is important' and also 'back up your art' but those are just general knowledge things anyway
It really is supposed to be satirical -- and it should be noted that out of the near 400, we only wrote about 10 of them.
Nearly all of them were suggested. It's not automated to make sure a spambot doesn't hit it, and ones that are flat-out attacks on other artists (e.g. "************* is the only furry able to shove 43 dicks in him at once.") don't get in.
NO BIG DICKS!!! NEVERMIND THAT THE ENTIRE FETISH IS JUST ESCAPIST NONSENSE AND THE WHOLE POINT OF IT IS THAT YOU CAN DO ANYTHING, AND NONE OF THIS IS REAL!!! WHOOPS FORGOT MY MISUSED SWEARWORD!!! FUCKING!!!
i was there 6 days ago and it wasn't, just serif text and couple buttons
and neither of you have journals about this ??? or any explicit, visible statements off the site
which is kinda odd since most people would tout this all over the place then back themselves up immediately
i'm not nagging about it or anything don't get me wrong
guess it just kinda got TOO META FOR ME
also i can't believe you both replied to this hahahasdfagh
I think it started out alright, with actual advice phrased with a demanding tone (there are quite a few in there that I genuinely agree with that a lot of anthro artists seem to misunderstand) but with the 'Suggest some fucking advice' button, shit got out of hand. Now there's just a lot of DON'T DRAW DOG DICKS ON PEOPLE. DON'T DRAW HUMAN DICKS ON ANIMALS. DON'T FORGET THE KNOT. SHITTING DICK NIPPLES. I DON'T LIKE IT SIR
Some of the contradictions are deliberate; but with nearly 400 quotes -- it's seriously becoming difficult to remember if a topic has been covered or not. I need to go back and cull some of them.
Honestly I went fishing through the updated suggestions after hearing all the bitching going on from people (not just on your journal) about this little lulz project and I have arrived at the following conclusions:
-I neither disagree with or am in anyway slightly less than completely neutral about each piece of advice I've read.
-95% of them caused lols or at the very least an amused smirk
-A good majority of them are very "no fucking duh" scenarios.
-Anything in the world including the chase scene in the intro to 28 Weeks Later can be played to the Benny Hill theme and be the funniest fucking thing ever for about 5 minutes.
If I were to be completely a-typical and buckle to the majority on this one I would consider myself a miserable sadistic dickweed who thrives on negativity and gives the fandom a black eye.
Actually I do agree with that last part but alls I'm sayin is, come on mang, you can't actually take this shit seriously.
This was made for the lulz just like everything else on the net.
Not saying it hurts my feelings or I'm dwelling on it or anything, I just think it was meant to be funny, and I find it unfunny! If other people think it's funny, more power to them.
P.P.S. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zRT-LvJUuQ one of the first things I got on a google vid search for Benny Hill. o0

Those faces are the faces I make while refreshing that page.
But since people just had fun with the "Suggest Advice" button, I Think it's getting stupider
And the ones like "Learn to draw anatomy (or someshit) before attempting porn" I kinda agree with even if I can't tell people what they can and can't draw.
I don't know.
Also, some of them hurt my feelings ;^;
But then again I guess I'm not that hard hearted of a person as I'm easy to upset somewhat. Oh well :U

Ones that had names were rejected automatically (save for "Dragoneer is a fucking Digimon.").
they were all actual art advice with a surprising lack of the word fuck :)
But yea. Some of them were seriously angry. The hatorade was literally dripping out of the monitor onto my desk.
It might sound amusing, but we tried to maintain a consistent level of tone. This site really isn't meant to be taken seriously like http://www.goodfuckingdesignadvice.com and http://www.wtfshouldidowithmylife.com
NOBODY LIKES LONG FUCKING TAILS
i guess it's supposed to be kind of a joke? but most of it is just so jaded and mean spirited that it aggravates me
the only one on there is really like is 'composition is important' and also 'back up your art' but those are just general knowledge things anyway
When I first saw it, my reaction was leaning towards the negative side, cause a lot of them felt kinda arrogant, imo. >.>;

FUCK
Except maybe "Fucking Learn Perspective". That's an important one: I WOULD KNOW ROM TRYING TO DRAW :<
Also, I nearly typed "importland" before.
learn the rules voln
'Don't fucking take this site so seriously. It's satire.
You wouldn't take Couragewolf seriously. This site shouldn't be taken seriously either.'
that wasn't there before
neither was facebook/twitter connectivity
is this one of those things where someone does something, gets negative feedback, then suddenly O IT WAS A JOEK LOL
i bet it is
The courage wolf thing is a new.
I also discovered someone made a couragewolf for us -- so I linked that as well.

haha. well. we sort of did this for shits n' giggles. I put it out on Twitter, but that was it.
I really didn't think it would get as much attention as it did.
It's like -- simmer down people, it’s just for fun. We’re not representing the fandom or god forbid, trying to lay down some furry art rules.
Ahh well.
Followed by
Furry art isn't just revolved around fucking drawing.
Dragons don't fucking have boobs or balls
Thank you, Dragon Expert.
some of them are ok
some of them are not
with some i agree
with some i dont
but i still think a lot of them are pretty funny :3
Some be funny :B
