More like god is... I just watched the building across the street get hit, as well as the residential tower a couple blocks away. There's also hail and a gust front.
Ohhh... Stay safe. Hope nothings happens to you guys >.o
Hey, Foxer.. you probably heard about that project they were working on in Greensburg, I think. Where the whole city was taken out by a tornado and they're rebuilding it green. What do you think about that kind of thing, just wondering.
I think that's amazing myself. I would feel really really proud to be part of something like that. How did that turn out? Or are they still working on it?
In MA it is highly unlikely to see tornadoes because the wind off the cool water tends to choke or weaken them. In any given year, it's not likely we'd see more than two or three minor twisters. Indeed, before yesterday, there hadn't been a recorded tornado in the state since 2008.
oh man... o__o
I thought it was rare over there, Its rare here in michigan, but we get them since were kinda at the tip of Tornado alley.
MA gets more hurricanes, granted they make it that far up the coast and stuff, correct?
What section of the state? I still am not aware of any major twisters in the eastern half of the state. There have been a couple of minor ones ... over my entire lifetime. :P
i live in chicopee mass and my uncle was there on state street heading home from work when that thing hit he's okay but i'm sure he was shaken up my aunt is okay to but there apartment build did get some damage only blown out windows luckily there apartments windows stayed intact but other where not so lucky there there where four deaths and 20 injured i think the tornado was a EF1 or EF2 in the strength level and a few minutes later Chicopee itself was almost hit but it passed us by we spent a few minutes in are basement just to be safe
i'm in a town that was right between two of the big bursts. it touched down in new hampshire north of us, and springfield south of us. all we got was heavy rainfall for about an hour and a really peach coloured surreal sunset sky.
holy crap I can't believe there were tornadoes in Massachusetts! I'm in NY and the storms came through here but they weren't too strong, just some rain and thunder
I used to live half way between NYC and Boston... I hated it up there, NOW you give me another reason to be glad I left new england almost two decades ago.
Of Course, just last week a tornado hit less than a mile from my house, so, well... yeah... storms be bad right now >.<
My undergrad education includes some standard winds training according to IBC, but I have specific training on earthquakes (spectral response, liquefaction, etc.).
Urban design has been dealing with broader issues, although wind has been a design driver in many historical precedents studied, especially in older southern cities (i.e. the Law of the Indies).

a tornado hit Springfield, MA.
There have been so many times I've chickened-out photographing a storm. I seriously admire this guy.
Damn, isn't it really rare for tornadoes to hit up there? o____o;
Stay safe sir.
