I wish I had some awesome words of wisdom, but I'm a local when it comes to FC, so it doesn't cost me much apart from admission and lunch money. The only useful advice I have is to do what I did when I was planning out my Florida trip earlier this year: pinch every penny where you can. Eat cheap. Avoid frivolous spending (in my case, that meant going without movies & nice dinners out). Don't use your credit cards except where necessary, and pay them off ASAP instead of carrying a balance.

You're also in the position to pick up some spare cash from taking commission work... if you do so, I would set aside any such earnings in a "con funds" pile and not touch it until needed. One thing I've found very useful is the concept of setting aside a small portion of my paycheck each month for future spending, a sort of slush fund for something I know I'll need it for later. Even just $20 or $30 over a few months can make quite a difference. :3

Perhaps pack some foods items to reduce the amount of times you'll need to pay to eat out. Generally, food place in and around large hotels tend to be a bit expensive, and if you can reduce that by one meal a day, it can save you some money. Pack some apples and oranges and maybe a loaf of bread, and some peanut butter or Nutella. That could be your breakfast each morning.

Avoid buying anything at the convention that you could buy elsewhere. This mostly applies to commercial items like plushies and such. I've seen people paying $40 for a small plush that they could easily buy elsewhere for $10. They do it because they are at a furry con, and their money is just burning to get out of their pockets.

This might be a bit late, due to my job and such, but from my life on the road, i found out that the cost of buying food can add up quickly. You should shop first and stock up for the trip, therefore you will spend less at gas station's and other markets.

That money save down the trip can then be used for things you really want to do, or buy.

Is the airport parking really needed? Could you have someone drop you off or taxi? Also how many are room with you? The more in the room the cheaper the cost

Actually, it was suggested to me that someone drive me to and from the airport at home, so I am taking that into account.
Also, a friend who lives 10 mins from the hotel offered to put me up, so that bit is taken care of. ^^

Ah ok great, From all my times going to cons Flying and rooming and Reg is what going to take the most of your money. If you buy badges and stuff that would be your second biggest cost. After that Food you can spilt bills your buddy. There been one or two cons where i did not send more then $100 for the whole weekend (excluding flying and rooming)
