Selection for Wednesday January 23rd 2013.
Artist name

Image type and characters - Type B digital maw shot of an otter appearing to be in mid yawn.
Why this image was chosen - I could tell from the thumbnail that this image was going to be very good. When I clicked on it there was instant Wow! factor when I got my first good look at this wonderful artwork ( or should I say doodler!) This is one of those images that doesn't need a background at all, it stands out quite well by itself as one of the best maw shots I've seen in a long time. To start off with the detail is amazing, the tongue, the teeth the fleshy interior of the mouth looks very good. The throat entrance and the shading that has been done outside and inside the maw makes it look more 3 dimensional and awesome. The attractive light grey and white touches inside the mouth hint at saliva just waiting for you if you should end up in there. The ridges in the roof of the mouth, the way the tip of the tongue is lifted up and the minimalist representation of fur outside this handsome maw fit this picture very well. I like the addition of the whiskers as a final detail and because this image is so well done I have decided to add it into the group's hall of fame.
Well done T.K.G. on an excellent piece and congrats on getting your image selected not only as the picture of the day but for entry into the D.A.F.F. hall of fame!
