Fursuit Poll - I need your opinion!
Hey all! I have a simple poll for you...!
A. Would you consider buying a partial fursuit from a dealers table at a con?
B. What species/breed would you more likely consider?
C. What price range would you consider?*
*It would include a head, arms, attached paws, and a tail.
Thanks!

B. Lucario. Just because it's my sona.
C. $600-$800. But I already have the tail, so cheaper.
It would be an impulse buy more than anything, though. However, getting a suit into your hands immediately means you see what you're getting straight away and don't have to worry about shipping etc.
B: A rabbit perhaps, or maybe a cat. I'd be unlikely to buy a dog, wolf or fox.
C: $500 max.
B. I would try a lesser-made species!
C. Anywhere from 600-1000 I'd think.
B. something very unique
C. $900-$2,000
B. A canine or a cute looking feline even as long as they look good and catch my eye. Markings would have to be unique yet not be too crazy. To sell the best id imagine they would have to be this way.
C. $300-$600. Its a convention, I, like many other people already have to pay for everything at the convention so it would have to be a good deal.
B. Skunk, depends on A. Maybe a raccoon.
C. 500 - 800. Depends on A. Also for a skunk, the price of how the tail looks is a big plus. Most skunk tails always look flat and lifeless. One that is lively, animated and fluffy can bring the price up even higher.
B. If I were to break that and consider it, it'd have to be unique. Not a fox or a wolf or something generic (though in thinking, that might be pretty good for those people with characters like that lookin for a suit) that I see all the time. Something unique, maybe a hybrid, or a monster.
c. Hrm..for a head, arms, handpaws, and tail I'd pay upwards of about $1000 depending on the maker? Maybe a biiit more.
D: my answers are all pessimistic. I hope it helps though
B. Sounds like people, who would buy one, would want something unique that stands out. So go from either brightly-colored costumes or rare, but interesting animals.
C. I think you're best bet would be to use an auction format here. Take 3 or 4 partials to a con, try to sell them auction-style. But I wouldn't short-change yourself.
Depends, but i know people like canines and felines most!
$800-$1200
B. A species that isn't rarely seen in fursuits. East African Bongo or a Fossa? I don't think people would be interested in simple canines or felines anymore.
C. $600-$1000
B. If feet (or hooves) were included, my Unicorn fursona Spellbound. If not, my purple Fox Fursona Art Vulpine.
C. Depends but I'd say no more than $600. (For Art Vulpine, I have a tail for him already, so it would be less because of that.)
B. Canine or feline
C. between 200-500$ maybe donate some of the money to a charity?
A. No, because I am the type to buy the whole thing, not a partial. I would feel I would have to make the rest on my own. Plus, I don't wear fur suits.
B. Cat, but with fun colors like Lisa Frank spots and stripes.
C. I agree with
B Foo Dog or monster Character, something really wild
C 750 is a good partial price, however, at a con i would be looking for something in the 300-500 range. (which is kinda low saddly)
B. Lapine
C. $500-$700. MAYBE $1000 is the head is super realistic (I saw some very excellent and realistic fursuit heads priced at $2000+ at a con and I can also tell you those people did NOT make any sales at the con.
B. Something different. Not a canine or feline. Maybe a really cool avian.
C. 600-800. It would really help to see teaser pics right before the con, because that's an awful lot of dosh to spend on first glance.
B. Something different. A kirin or avian of sorts would be interesting
C. If it's a good maker, 600-900.
b: wolf/fox mostly
c: just for certain parts? like $100 a peice depending on size?
B.) either a generic suit like a fox, or a wolf, something simple and cheap that people can own, or something really original and out there so,mething thats not a suit species you see often, something eye catchy is always good
C.) id say cheap as possible as people can commision suits if they want to, if there buyiing a premade one its never going to fit perfectly and there buyoing it just to own a fursuit, so id say very cheaply
B: Ferret, 'cause my bat 'sona wouldn't really be a partial, or practical to make due to wings.
C: I sadly have no idea on price because I have never owned or made one. ._. It's just sorta a fantasy of mine. Heh.
B. I say go with something like deer fox horse if want to do semi common but a bit less common
C. 500 max for a con and I do sortof like the OC poster idea about partial charity donation if that was the case id be willing to go a bit higher
(my reserves, how i'm feeling, and phases of the moons of jupiter)
$ enough to make it worth your time and while. if i can't afford it someone else can. there's enough people out there who can and will.
something felid or mustalid, with interesting colors and markings, browns and greens and oranges and turqouise, no red reds nor clown primaries, (but markings like a red panda are good)
also more realistic then toonish. but alien realistic. not realistic by being too familiar, but realistic by not being toonish.
2) Red Fox, Grey Wolf, German Shephard, Doberman and/or Husky
3) $290-$580
Reasoning:
In the initial excitement of your first convention where you see fursuiters interacting playfully or get your first fursuit hug, many like myself are compelled to join in the merriment in the most visceral way possible; donning a suit ourselves. So having a pre-made selection at costs not exceeding one-two weeks' pay at minimum wage, you'll be able to capture a lot of impulse buyers.
Canines are far and away the most common category of fursona and of them the five I listed are not only simple, being two toned and capable of being cast in two molds (short and slender for fox and doberman, long and broad for the others), but they are also the most common in and out of the fandom; just look at the rubber/leather community masks.
In this way you can appeal to the largest subsection of potential buyers and keep production costs down. Plus, if they want something unique they have a sense of your build quality and you should have a portfolio on hand detailing your more elaborate work so you don't lose the high-end or picky customers either.
But those are just my thoughts,

B: If you go with a relatively generic grey wolf and orangish/redish fox, I would imagine they would sell better then a neon green dragon/yeti hybrid or something.
C: If you just wanted to sell heads, I'd say $150-$250, for a partial... er... $350? maybe do a silent auction with a 'buy it now' feature for $700 or something? I dunno. there's alot of variety in time put in and quality out, perhaps your work is worth way more then my quoting, but I wouldn't know.
I have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm no artist. sorry.
