Rabbit help?
I have a rabbit who I recently got. He's sweet and lovely when you're holding him and when you let him run around but when you try to take him out he's against it.
I really want to get him friendly enough that if I open the cage he'll want to come out. Rather than me having to take him out.
Mostly because I know it'll be better for him and me. I won't intrude his personal space and I'll know when he really doesn't want to and when he would rather be left alone. Rather than GO AWAY all the time and not getting any outside cage time.
He just accepts it when you pick him up though and doesn't struggle. I've sat near the cage for hours only to have him sniff the open door but never really going out or letting my hands near him to sniff before I pick him up.

Sitting near the cage to let him get use to you was a great idea as well, it lets em get use to smells and noises, especially since he is a new member of the family. My suggestion would be to continue to let him get use to seeing you, so he will learn you are not a threat, and as far as him coming out of the cage on his own my suggestion would be to possibly search up a healthy treat for rabbits, something he doesn't usually get and kinda use that to try and coax him out. :) Weather you just place it on the floor outside of his cage of hold it yourself. Hopefully after awhile he will learn outside the cage isn't a scary place ^_^
Just make sure you don't always use treats either. As with all animals they get use to habits and we don't want the bun getting to be a chunker =3 Good luck to you!!
