Did you know, that back in the day before they had proper medicine for it, people had an interesting way of getting rid of tapeworms. What they would do is starve the patient (and ultimately the tapeworm). After about 3 days without food, the patient would then go to the doctor and stick their tongue out as far as it could go. Then the doctor would place a piece of raw meat on the edge of their tongue. The tapeworm would be starving, so it would slowly crawl up out of the patient's mouth to get the meat, after which the doctor would grab it and yank it out, thus curing the patient of their tapeworm.

Neat, eh?
