Vore Card Game (VCG), Now in Public BETA
Finally it's ready for release! Now I know there's a couple typos and such when it comes to the Card images compared to the data for the program, but I'll be fixing those up when it comes to a v1.0 :3 So, first of all, I'm sure you're all just eager to try out the game, so let's get on with it then ^^
First of all, go to http://www.lackeyccg.com/ and download the latest client for your OS (Currently Linux is unavailable, however). The program is simply packed into a ZIP file, extract it anywhere on your PC. Now before we start the game, let's get the plugin :3 I've posted the ZIP file for the plugin on two places ( http://ericc.hopto.org/VCG%20Plugin.zip or from http://www.zshare.net/download/53879470d98784db/ ). Just extract it directly into your LackeyCCG folder, allowing it to overwrite any folders it needs.
Now we can start up LackeyCCG. Open Lackey, and the first thing you'll see is a Playfield with assorted info on the sidebars. Ignore this for now, and instead click the "Preferences" button at the top of the window. A few sub-tabs will appear, so select "Plugin". The first option here is to choose the Plugin you're using, just press the Browse button and you should see "VCG" shown in the list of games. Click it, then click the "Choose" button. The game will automatically go back to the Playfield screen, but we still haven't finished editting everything yet X3
Next, go back to preferences and select the "Appearance" tab. Firstly, tick the option for "Flip Table Image when in Seat 2". Next, the top option on the window should be for "Table Image", click the Browse button and choose the "VCG_Playfield" image. The game will go back to the Playfield once again, and you're now ready to play a game of VCG. The field should look something like...

Now that you're ready, you'll probably be wonderin' how to play! Well, if you look in your LackeyCCG Folder, you should see a copy of the VCG BETA Rulebook has been placed in there for you. Once you've read up on the rules, you'll probably be wondering how you can play with one of your friends. This is where things may be a bit complicated for some people. For now, we do have a server for people to connect to, but players can also connect directly to one another. This can be done two ways...
If you want to connect to the server, first open a browser and go to http://ericc.hopto.org . The current IP address for the server is shown at the top of the page. Copy that IP, then go to the Server tab of LackeyCCG, and connect to that IP address.
For direct connections, the Hosting Player goes to the Server tab of LackeyCCG and creates a Server. The second player then goes to the Server Tab of LackeyCCG, and using the bottom section of the "Connect to Server Menu", they sonnect directly to the Hosting Player's IP Address. If successfull, both players will now be in a multi-user chatroom with one another. Either player can then create a Game using the options under the list (Next to the current users in the room). If you have trouble connecting to games, try selecting the "Proxy" option when creatting a game. Once connected, Lackey will automatically move both players to the Game Window.
For any other things, including deck creation and some other things to do with lackey or the Plugin, take a look at the ReadMe file included in the Plugin ZIP.
Have fun with the game, everyone ^^ And remember to let me know of any changes or feattures you think could be implemented!
EDIT: Seems my IP isn't static like I thought, new IP address for the temporary server is 59.101.145.7

FA+

Sorry about not doing my part in terms of contribution, it's been a weird couple of weeks...
If not, then sign me up! ... Or, well, maybe I'll just follow the directions. XP
How does one go about having their character added to the game? :3
Looks like it could be a pretty interesting game, but it's certainly a neat idea.
Lackey won't let me save my skins when I edit the colors and such. Not a big deal I suppose, but I did want to turn things orangey-er. Any clue how to get it to save my skin setup?
Well, I'm attempting to connect to that IP you link me to....though it just says "There was an error with connection to the server." I guess what's currently up there is 71.242.119.58:82....I tried that, 71.242.119.58.82, and 71.242.119.58 with no luck.
Still curious if you know anything about the skins perhaps. =P
In the Plugin's window there's a Text Box that shows the name of the current plugin with a "Load Plugin" button next to it. Manually type "VCG" into that text box, then click Load Plugin to force a load :3 That *sould* work if you've installed the plugin correctly
Finally, built a deck and I will finally play it online shortly.
So order to prevent OP cards we need to have your full agreement on all of the cards we come up with since it is your game.
If you don't mind me asking, who all became cards?
Edward, Zayth, Zanthus, Toby, Tiel, Rubri, Reiku, myself, Nightstar, Macbeth, Koosh, Jinsei, Jacobus, Hikaratu, Forrester, Ericc, SolidScale, Reil, GhostDraggy and Roco (Two of his characters)
Do you gain a vore point upon devouring a character.
Can you devour a character who's already devoured a character and still has them in their stomach.
And what are the conditions of victory?
1. You gain a Vore Point upon successfully devouring a character.
2. Character's who have devoured and are still digesting annother character can not be targetted for Vore Attempts.
3. Players agree to a Vore Points goal before the game begins, reaching this goal or succeeding a Player Vore Attempt (Which you can make if your opponent has no Non-Pred Characters in play) wins you the game. a Player Vore Attempt can only be done once per turn, and is a simple roll of a 10-sided Die, needing a result of 10 exactly.
Looks good though, and the rules and gameplay format sound really good too. Definitely have my attention... just... I'm gonna have to steal that attention back until say... Monday ^.^;; After I've got all the last minute stuff done for my contest.
So is there a way to make all the calculations and restrictions automated? (also does the bot work?)
I may need to get on that server and see if you could help me out with a game
Can't promise anything right now but I'm pretty sure a simple card game is easy to code in game maker (gets more difficult with effects)
P.S. Ha ha my opponent ate his own char.
Yeah, that happens a lot... <.< >.>
Very fun card game Ranger, especially in 4 players.
Can't wait to continue the rest of the match tomorrow! ^_^
When a deck runs out of cards does the player...
-lose the game
-keep on playing
-shuffle the discard pile and use it as the deck
I hope all this doesn't annoy you, I just really want to see this game succeed and grow.
Roco, The Gentlemen, may have his information out of order according to the deck editor, as his gender is listed a the number 2, among other things.
Caustic Pills should specify that it cannot be used on a Prey card.
Yoshi Tounge should be spelled Yoshi Tongue.
Belly Growl Should specify that it cannot be used on Prey cards.
The rules should specify how often support is usable. I assume every defense phase in which a player is defending that the free characters who are not digesting something or being attacked can do so.
If pred chars prove overly useful, I suggest taking away or reducing their ability to provide support. Since they already don't defend a player it seems like they wouldn't help in support phases either.
I think there should later on be some prey cards that cost only 1 or 2 AP, and have low evasion, basically being meant to get in the way and be eaten, but also be worth no points.
Trick-Trap-is it meant to only be usable on Character type cards, or can it be used on Prey types as well? Or, does it only work on unique Named characters? The text could mean any of those.
Any cards using 'Character' in its description: should be updated to say creature or something, so that the wording cannot be confused. In the future there could very well be cards that affect a specific subgroup of creatures that cause the wording of these test cards to mean multiple things that were not meant.
Add some specifics on Resist Digestion skill: does the ability up the DP of the pred by 2, or does it make it so that the turn a creature would be fully digested it takes 2 more turns. Additionally, will digestion counters keep piling on anyway?
Ovversized Plushie should be spelled Oversized Plushie. (I noted you add a double Y into 'saying' as well, spelling it 'sayying', I saw 'playyed' as well.)
Tail Sale should specify what kind of die is rolled. Probably a D10.
Substitute should specify that Predator type creatures cannot be made the new target.
Stuffed should specify that it lasts the same amount of turns as the target's Digestive Power, and that it cannot target a Prey type creature.
Rotten Apple should specify that it cannot be equipped to a Predator type creature.
Smash should be updated to simply say item and leave out the equipped wording, in case there are item cards in the future that are not equipped to things.
I have realized that Ghostdraggy is basically immune to physical action cards, meaning the creature itself cannot have those cards do anything to it from any player, even its controller.
Roco, The Gentlemen would not need its ability text if my proposed counter system is put into play.
I noticed Toby costs too much when Hikaratu has the same stats and +2 more evasion, 1 less AP cost (7), and 2 really nice skills to boot.
Ericc is a really good prey card for being only 4 AP. He probably needs an increase of 1-2 AP.
Flavor text of GhostDraggy has spelling errors.
Giant Toad has a grammatical error.
'Man Eatting' Plant should be 'Man Eating Plant'
Character type cards should be capable of making Player Vore Attempts just like Predator type creatures can, so that if the opponent only has Predators left they can try to defeat the opposing player with creatures that would otherwise be useless for anything except predator blockers.
Heheh..I've nearly succeeded in creating a card, as it is it appears in the list, but some things are messed up. If I do succeed I will not tell anyone how I did it however, as that is not information you would want passed around.
That's probably a small error I'll need to fix...Thouhg I definitley set him as Male in the Data.
I didn;t really think this should need to be specified, because it'd be a pretty silly idea putting Caustic Pills on a Prey in the first place.
*Shrugs* Simple Typo, not too important.
Again, same thing as Caustic Pills.
This was actually mentioned in the "Support Characters" section of the Rulebook.
"If you have any Characters that did not make a Vore Attempt, or serve as support, during your last turn, you may use them as Defensive Support after your opponent has declared all their Vore Attempts and Supporters."
That's an idea I might need ti implement.
That's what the idea of Reil's card is.
Trick-Trap works on any Character.
Uh, if there was ever a card that affected a certain type of Character, it'd refer to the "Species" of the Character which is labelled in every Card.
The effects of "Resist Digestion" stack ontop of the Pred's DP, for example a Character with "Resist Digestion 2" is devoured by a pred with 3 DP, therefore it would now take 5 turns for that character to be digested.
*Shrugs* Again, typos, not really too important to worry about, every game has them occassionally.
Whenever the word "Die" is used, it refers to a normal 6-Sided Die. Though when it comes to an effect like Tail Sale, any die is fine really, since it's just a matter of comparing the results. So long as both players use the same Die, they'll have the same chance.
They wouldn't be able to to begin with anyway, dunno if that would be such a confusing issue.
I had someone else ask this too, I didn't think I needed to be THAT specific when it came to some of these effects. Yes, you're right, Stuffed's effect lasts for the same amount of turns as the Pred's DP. As the card says "Treat this CHaracter as though it is Digesting another CHaracter.", so therefore you'd basically treat Stuffed like a Character Card with no Struggle attempt each turn, putting DIgestion counters on it as normal.
Same as the last couple effects you've mentioned like this, it would be a stupid idea to do such anyway, so I don't it's the player's mistake if they wanna do it.
If that's the case, then I'll change the text.
Exactly, the effect prevent it from being affected by ANY Physical action...So the drawback is being unable to have Positive effects done on it with your own Actions.
Possibly, yes.
I'll get around to this, I have a good bit of balancing to do anyway.
Again, gotta do balancing anyway.
I know, I simply copy/pasted it from the message Ghost sent me because I'm lazy like that. Again though, typos are a very minor concern.
Typoes, still minor.
Again, typoes, minor concern.
Uh, where did I say only Predator Character could make Player Vore Attempts? I simply said that if the opponent has no Non-Pred Characters in play, they may make a Player Vore Attempt...The only characters that can not make a Player Vore Attempt are Prey characters.
Though I'm already making up cards for fun and posting them in my journal. :3
