Dick...
I'm going to visit a french friend and visit Japan for 2 weeks, in late june / early July!
I was wondering if there are some furries / events / furmeets, etc. out there ? It could be fun
to meet local people!
PS : I don't speak a single word of Japanese!

Nah, whats evil is killing other people in the name of "decency" just because the people being killed ate a cat or a dog.
"In 2008, Japan imported 5 tons of dog meat from China compared to 4,714 tons of beef, 14,340 tons of pork and 115,882 tons of poultry."
Cat meat would be unheard of, as cats have been seen as sacred animals in Shintoism for millennia.
That said, I've never seen cat or dog served in Japan, but I was in a very urban place. Rural japan might be very different
It is China and Korea.
It is necessary to go to a Chinese restaurant or Korea restaurant when it eats them in Japan.
Moreover, the restaurant where they are eaten is very very rare existence.
Korean and Chinese in Japan are consuming them.
Uncommonly, the tourists of foreign and Japanese eat them just out of curiosity.

And if a video isn't loading in one browser, use another, some browsers have issues at times. I so this sometimes with webpages I have issues with and it works great.
The point is that you wont take a few minutes to watch something that proves another person's point.
Its really not a hard concept here.
The videos are about debunking the conspiracy theories and misinformation about the fukushima accident.

Wish you to have fun!
I've got a couple days of "do your own thing"... have been trying to find a local fur who speaks at least a bit of English, to get together and hangout, see the sights, go places, etc. I'd love to have a sherpa (tour guide) for a day. Could be fun to meet up with folks for a random meal or something too.
How far away is Yokosuka? Looks like it's not a long train ride up to Tokyo.
A lot of furry conventions are held around Tokyo.
However, the furry convention will not be scheduled to be held in Tokyo in June and July.

http://www.furaffinity.net/user/radywolf/ is an amazing fursuit maker there
I used to know a US army guy (furry) that was stationed there, but I think he's back here now.
Enjoy the world's cutest country and be wary of the Kan-cho!
Followed by Kemocon in October-nov and JMoF in jan.
I wish I would visit Japan someday... my sister has... well... she lived there... for several years... she apparently learned to speak some Japanese... she bought back little in the way of souvenirs... outside food... she loves food there apparently...
I know very little with their language and mess up speaking Japanese whenever I have to say anything more than a few words... I can never be able to say anything than the few statements and phrases I've learned...
Thankfully I know plenty of words... but I have no idea how to put them together and speak... I'm basically the worst guy to translate and/or speak Japanese...
and maybe
Learn to say "sumimasen" a lot. You'll still sound like a stupid gaijin... but a polite stupid gaijin; folk like that.
I've wanted to try going there myself, but I am nervous about maybe specific laws and commonalities. Like, what to most people do there? I have to ask myself that and observe. Perhaps if I don't think about it too much, I could fit in just fine..
And there are a lots of styles of furry, like bara and "critter" (Wildcritters and Veebooru content), as well as just plain anthro. So some of the Japanese furries are really into Pokemon/Digimon, which is pretty cool, since I'm into it, too. I can't really introspect any more since I've never been to Japan myself, nor do I plan on going there anytime soon with my own financial situation, but I hope the whole trip goes splendid for you.
I didn't want to make fun of Japan in any way, although I'm sure they really don't care so much if you make fun of them, just don't insult them too much or, oh boy... they can get upset, and you're gonna wonder why. Some of Japan's outside stalls don't use cash registers, and they expect customers to pay for their stuff in like a bowl or something if it's available. Most importantly, don't hand your money to the cashier in that case, unless you wanna be dumb. Not sure if they do that so much anymore, but it's a thing I've heard about. Don't remember where I heard about this, so I'm surprised I know about it.
Yes, having a friend who knows any place you're traveling too is always extremely, extremely helpful. Don't go without your pen pal!~
Said friend will probably know some of the towns, neighborhoods and cities a whole lot better than you will. Lol.
