Good money says there's a story behind that...

Several stories, actually. I think we all have our tales of getting screwed by someone we helped.

I was thinking up the ladder when I thought of it. Example, if some site like "FA" offers a service that most of us don't have to pay for to show off and to promote our works, why do so many bash it? No one thinks of how much it must take to keep the site up and running.

some people are never grateful.I think they learned (erroneously of course ) that the world is there to entertain and provide for them and thus are always pushy and asking for more.

I think that most people love free stuff, and many take advantage of it. Like a wealthy person going to a soup line on Thanks Giving Day to get a free turkey dinner. "I actually saw it happen." Then they turn around and complain that it wasn't cooked right with out realizing all the money and effort that others put in to make something nice for those who have a hard time putting food on the table.

As for the little FA pole that's going around about weather artist should get paid by imvu, for using a banner that they drew, I answered "NO". To me that's free advertising and promotion for their works, and we aren't charged a membership fee. Now if we getting charged, then I would have answer "Yes".

why would people do that?

Because they do.

obviously that thought is quite alien to me...

I imagine the horse would rather be looked in the mouth than slapped in the face. Neither is a good thing to do.
