Fursuit Builders and work.

- How many of you fursuit builders out there work either a full time job r part time job AND build suits as a profession,
and how many of you are full-time Fursuit builders for your main income?
and how many of you are full-time Fursuit builders for your main income?
kinda makes me wonder why I'm getting a degree at all... lol
It took us some time to settle on this decision- we were not sure if we could do it long-term, despite the demand being there.
In the end, both of us are pretty happy we went through and decided to make fursuit creation our main job.
We also have 2 as-needed volunteers who do simple work such as fur/foam cutting and 1 part-time machine seamstress.
It takes a bit of balancing to handle everything, but if you got the mind and will, you can do it!
Best of luck on your decision!
I USED to have a part time job and I went to school, but that all ended when I decided that my boss not letting me see my dying grandfather was a problem.
This is more than a job to me, this is my dream. I'm currently looking into school and sewing classes to learn to make other things, and not just fuzzy babies. In the end, I've love to be able to make everything from Fursuits to Cosplay to drapery and more!
plus one fursuit commission at a time. Im still pretty cheap as i do it for friends mostly. Till i feel that im good enough to take on more than one
I, Redd, started Woozles Wonders.
Albatrozs works part time at Dominoes and my husband usually works full time but recently got laid off so he's looking for another job. Making suits is my full time thing and I work an average of 12 hours a day/night on suits and also pull frequent solo all-nighters.
Since we're a relativley new suit making bunch, we're still getting started up and our prices are low, but I'm hoping this can become full time for all three of us.
I've been working at a groomer's, I sometimes take art commissions, and I also enjoy event planning. I also provide vocals for my boyfriend's music sometimes, but he works full time in management. He was a sales representative at Saks Fifth Avenue for a fragrance company called Kilian, but now he has moved on to a management position at Sephora (a store mostly known for cosmetics).
He's doing better financially than me at the moment and he's in a great position with a chance of moving up even higher in the company.
As for me, I still feel like I haven't found my true calling yet. I just don't know, but I know my parents think I should be doing something artistic. But in my opinion, fursuit making and art is kind of an over saturated market within the fandom. I just think it'd be too difficult for me to get enough commissions and make a decent living off of it. Honestly, I don't think it can happen for me. I think I need a career that doesn't rely solely on the fandom.
I'm looking into being a personal shopper for those with higher income or are just too busy or incapable of shopping for themselves. There's a lot of wealthy people in certain parts of my area. I just want to try it out. This may not be my full time "career". I'm trying to explore different options.
keeping in mind. im a bit new getting suit comissions i dont get so much from that yet for my goals. so i had been tryng to get a job while trying to give me the time to work in suits
but i had not good luck with my fulltime job. was complety shit with meindeed i had not time to suits ot drawings finally they never calls me again-
