I think the shade of purple looks better when the hair is darker than or equal to the fur.
I dug up my favorite coloring done by another artists and used some digital app to pick out a few shades of purple they used. You don't have to worry too much about getting her wrong. I liked how other artists made Miyuki look even when they changed her to blue on accident.
As for your half, I have a Personal Refs folder in my Gallery, so feel free to choose whichever character you'd like!
He's a fatty catty and he's also a grumpy lil Viking. Have fun with him!
