Really doubt it. Split-screen has been on the way out for years.

A lot of games don't have split screen, which is pretty shitty in my opinion (I love couch co-op with my hubby). The only real fix is using a second TV and console for games that lack a split-screen. Unfortunately. :C

My BF and I got away with it playing Destiny because we literally just parked our respective consoles and TVs right next to each other. It worked, but really, how hard is it to put split-screen into any given game?
That being said, they'll never do anything about it if we don't demand it. Only thing is, I dunno how to do that.

Gears of War is over the shoulder third person shooter, and it has split-screen. So there's literally 0 excuse not to include it in any games today. But, honestly, it's likely because a lot of gamers are loners, and because of budgeting/time constraints.

There's also this funny excuse : "Yeah, well, our game is beautiful! Really amazing. But we can't have 2 players on the same console because it's not powerful enough."
I had this problem with halo 5, and I do think it sucks. Like, a lot.

I can see that being a problem in truly massive open world games (I.e. Skyrim, Fallout), but hell even Borderlands is able to be played split screen and it's open world (not to the size of the other examples, mind you, but big). :/ That's such a stupid excuse.

That's one of the most disappointing things with new games coming out!! Like, I had the same experience when my bro and I tried to play Halo 5 together....no split screen co-op either!

SOOOO upsetting! If you want to have gaming parties anymore, you basically have to each have your own tvs and own systems and own games and it's such a headache!

I got a PS4 yesterday with Fallout 4, and I chose not to get Battlefront (because apparently you can't get a new console without a bundle?). Mostly because I'm not hugely interested in playing. If it had a single player and a good co-op, I might have considered it.

Game itself is just shitnin my opinion...I'm a long time starwars fan, and I loved Battlefront one, two, and the PSP versions.....but that game? That game is a total waste of time...

What is especially egregious about this is that newer, larger flat screen monitors are actually way better suited for split screen action than older, smaller CRT monitors. I remember playing Goldeneye 64 back 98-99 and while it was amazingly fun it still couldv'e been better.

This is what pissed me off with Halo 5. I've been playing the Halo games with my guy since Reach, but we found out about the lack of split screen co-op the weekend before release day. Dunno about with Battlefront, but Halo claimed it was in order to keep 60 fps. I think they should have been more concerned with the fact that some of the multiplayer maps have textures that look like flat shit XP

Games are sadly becoming an online thing, the exact same thing happened with halo 5, the only way to play multiplayer is through the internet... it seems split-screen is sadly dying out

My boyfriend works at GameStop and is a huge gamer nerd AND StarWars nerd.
They are getting rid of multiplayer on purpose. He's been bitching nonstop about Battlefront for months because he heard they removed splitscreen multiplayer last minute, so they wouldn't have to deal with fans complaining and them having to re-input it into the game. They're using excuses like it affects the frame rate so it 'can't be done now.'

They are pushing the notion that every gamer has to buy their own separate consoles, tvs, game copies, and NOW to even PLAY ONLINE AT ALL with friends, you have to buy a gold membership or PS membership.
It's their way of forcing you to spend more money if you ever want to play with anyone. We were super hyped for Destiny, but you cannot play with friends period unless you have an online subscription account and you both have to use your own consoles, game copies, and TVs to be able to play. It's really ridiculous and a huge disappointing future for gaming :(

Thank you, sorry if I didn't clarify but we did not buy Battlefront for that very reason. We research all games we want to buy to make sure it is a smart purchase. We were aware of the online play before getting Destiny though, I'm just saying it was a disappointment. Me and my boyfriend did not buy Battlefront because we were aware of all the things they took out. We follow all games we're interested in and research them before deciding to buy them. I just find it ridiculous I need an online subscription membership just to play with him, where if I play without one, I can still play the game, but he can't be on my fireteam. We also were expecting the DLC for Destiny to be free (My bf says Bungee has done this before) or at least cheaper, to make up for how big of a flop the game turned out to be story-wise. (Frankly, I still enjoy the game quite a bit, it's just the constant connectivity issues that are bothersome)

I just feel like the frame rate could have been fixed had they decided to look into it, but these companies are looking to get as much money as they can and they're forcing it by making it so each person has to have their own console and game and online membership just to play with their friends. These are all amazing consoles, capable of so much, I'm sure they could have found a way to include multiplayer, all the previous games in the StarWars franchise (from what my bf told me) always had the option.

then they are seeing faster then their minds can react to anything they see (the average reaction time is almost 215 miliseconds or .215 seconds) which means on average a person would react to their vision after almost 15 "frames" worth of time has already passed, with the fastest reaction time recorded being almost 101 MS (or almost .101 seconds) which means the fastest any one person has ever reacted was within about 10 frames of the 100FPS seeing time, or only one tenth of that vision speed, why would anyone need something that can move faster than they can even react XD (this BTW is for something they KNEW was coming)

anything reacted to in real time is processed a "bit slower" which could mean up to twice the time depending on if you have a natural reaction to it or not (anything naturally reacted to can be done faster but requires little to no brain input)

I guess the framerate makes sense. I'm pretty oblivious when it comes to that technology. What a load of shit though. I love playing with my boyfriend and we went in a few weeks ago to find a game to play together, and the only thing we found that could actually withstand multiplayer splitscreen or multiplayer co-op was fucking mortal kombat??? what a shame *tear*

I heard before release that there wouldn't be a campaign mode. Kinda lame, it looks like it could've had a great one.

I'll get Battlefront eventually when the price drops drastically. I followed the game development before it's release, and knew that the entire thing was flawed from the beginning. No campaign, no split screen, no instant action, no galactic conquest, no prequels, no space battles (hell, I was worried if you could switch from 3rd to 1st person like you could in the previous games). Pretty much, all it is is just Battlefield 4 with a Star Wars skin. Sure it looks pretty, VERY pretty, but the lack of content is what killed this game for me. I am not spending $60+ on a MULTIPLAYER game with little content. I will however spend $60+ on a game like Fallout 4 because there is soooooooooooo much more content for the price. Congratulations EA, ruins another franchise.
