Still sick. Also Patreon maybe?
So it's been a fairly interesting couple of weeks. Apparently I have asthma? It just so happens that it's never been a huge hindrance to me so it never came up until whatever cold/virus/curse I caught over Christmas triggered it. But I had a few days back where I just couldn't breathe easily, throat was wrecked, and couldn't stop coughing. So went to my doctor where he presented asthma hypothesis and gave me a temporary inhaler. Only problem was I still had a bit of a respiratory infection and the inhaler was a steroid, and mixing steroids with infections is bad news bears. So within 2 days it was 10 times worse, wheezing and constant coughing fits and choking on the chunkiest phlegm ever. It was to the point I couldn't sleep, partially because of cough but mostly because I was too afraid of suffocating in my sleep. So I went to UC clinic on Sunday where they did all kinds of tests; chest X-ray (that was my favorite cuz I got to see my insides), breath tests, nebulizers (where to the dismay of the nurses we learned that Albuterol gives me panic attacks, which sucks extra hard when your lungs are already rebelling against you), and a whole lot of fancy stethoscopes. Docs corroborated asthma diagnosis and gave me a bunch of tasty new medicines. I'm on sky-high dosage antibiotics, narcotic cough medicine, and muscle relaxers to stop my lungs from spasming. YAY! Here's hoping some good will come of this. I'd love to be able to breathe normally without throat sludge and not have a voice like someone shaking a bag of gravel. Never take this shit for granted, kids!
Otherwise, things are moving along. I've been contemplating starting a Patreon. I'd like to have that to help me feel comfortable moving on to work on personal projects and having real deadlines to finish the stuff I know everyone's been wanting to see. It's hard though, trying to figure out exactly what my goals would be, what I can tangibly promise my patrons, and what I specifically could offer them. It's just weird coming at it with a non-commission mindset. Like I'm used to thinking about it as if someone gives me money because they want a certain thing. This is more abstract. I worry I won't give them what they want if it's a general patronage. But then again I know that's the point and ultimately the call of the patron to decide what they invest in. I just have to do what I do and leave it at that.
I'm sure I know at least one answer (GG and all the following chapters) but if I were to start a Patreon what kinds of things would you guys want to see most? There are other original comic ideas I have, short story sort of things, animations/music videos I know I've talked about but would love to actually get started on.... Lots of things. What would encourage you guys to invest? What do you like to see? What sorts of rewards would be interesting and worthwhile? After all, it's you guys I'm doing this all for so I'd love to get your feedback.
Also, just noticed the "featured journal" thing. What's that about?

Get better soon, I'll be crossing all my fingers for this to happen because all your situation doesn't sound pleasant at all. ^^'
Now concerning your Patreon idea, as a Patreon user and possibly interested on becoming one of your patrons I can tell you that comics might be a good choice. ^^
What I'd love to see from you on there would be :
- Greener Grasses.
- Other Comics and stories from you.
- So you have animation/music videos ideas/projects ? Why not I'd love to hear/see more about them. ^^
- And some other doodles and personal art.
Now you should set your goals according to a certain amount of money ? Like "If I get $** I have to draw one page for one of my comics". If you reach this amount, that's what patrons will have the right to expect from you this month. And you could fix goals according to this system ? Personnally, that's how I'm working myself ^^
(If you're worried about some lack of time to respect your goals, make them high, then patrons will just be happily surprised if you show them more than what you promised them to create. ^^ )
Now concerning rewards, it's totally up to you. I chose some doodle rewards and cameos.
But I realized that, the more you gift your patrons, the more they wait for. So... avoid making them too many gift-rewards.
Last thing I want to say is : I'd love to see you trying your hand at a Patreon ! ^__^
Personally I like the way you draw more Human-like creatures or Humans. So, concerning that point, there would be no problem for me. ;)
Just try to keep some secret protected garden for some lil' things of yours you think people might not like somewhere at least ?
