Developing new style

General
Since I decided to try myself in semi-classic 2D animation I am trying to develop new style. Now, when I make a character, I have to think that I should be able to draw it like hundreds of times and have around 2 to 10 minutes for each picture. This is Hell for me, I tell ya'... But also best practice I ever had.
Also I tried OpenToonz already and it kinda works except that part when it crushes down without any notifications when it's time to render a final file. So I can do what I want but I can never show it to anybody, mwuahahaha
I will probably buy Toon Boom Harmony after all. TVPaint is a bit too expensive for me. And in terms of +500 euro prices I would update second half of my hardware first. My 6 y.o. AMD Phenom get close to overload by simply streaming =D Damn... I wanna be one of these classic european kids who are always whining about constantly being broke and having shitty jobs or no job at all... but still somehow have top gaming hardware, expensive haircuts and tattoos! Because I never broke but I also never have nice things =(
So... yeah. New style. Soon!
And probably more streaming! Even if Russian furries are usually using my channel as a private chat, but hey... that's our classic post-communistic thing to do! XD

I say this with little-to-no animation experience though, and from what I understand Krita currently only allows for Raster-based animations until they work out the kinks with their vector layers and text tools... so Vector-based animation is a no-go until either late this year or next year with Krita ^o.o^
Just thought I'd say something about it in case you're looking for a free animation tool within a workable application ^o.o^
You're starting to animate! Believe me, soon it's not being broke you whine about. It'll be having no
time for yourself and no more sunlight. :') That's the harsh life of an animator. Holidays? Nope, we
don't have 'em.
I get why TVPaint is too expensive, I mean heck! I pirated TVPaint for my schoolwork and stuff... It's
what we get taught in art academy. For the time that you're still studying it's okay to pirate stuff,
because companies expect you to buy their products when you're finished, since you know how to
work with their products. :P Hahaha! Which is pretty clever.
Anyway, I wish you all the luck in making those classic 2D animations. :D I know that I find it a lot of
fun, so I hope you'll find the same joy in it as I do. :) Cheers!
You know my suggestion would be to just crack TVPaint
I only animated an arm so far haha http://www.furaffinity.net/view/20044719

I've been doing all my artwork in Open Canvas, for the past 15 years. The downside to that is, moving to newer and better programs feels like learning to draw all over again. Like you are finding with learning a new style.. it can be hard.
I need to bite the bullet though, and once I have a new rig (and dedicated work space, rather than a desk in my bedroom) I need to move up to newer programs. I think SAI will be my go-to, the stabilizing feature should really help my inking.. It's a little squiggly *laugh* Probably my old tablet's surface too.. it snags a little.
Still learning all the time, I think that's the important part
(Still I love Tvpaint! It's the easiest program ever what I had to use at the university. Easy, close to "real" paper animation.)
ToonBoom is fine. Vector animation. Can rig the character (like in AE if use something jpg picture whats cut in parts, or, in Blender) but for me, because of these things its far from classic animation. Rigging is help for sure, but its not my thing. Yeah, I do love to hurt myself to draw somthing tons of a time again and again!
And, the newest is Adobe Animation CC. Try out this one too if you can. Maybe will like it. :)
Can't wait to see your new style.
idk if you already do this or not but story boarding and setting down your key frames before getting into the good stuff really helps!
This is free, and is still developing, but now uis pretty full featured. You may want to give this a try. ToonBoom harmony is what most of the studios use.
as a (hardly) working animator, I can give you tips and advice if you need them.

If you need any help, let me know! Hope to meet again at EF! :)
Cheers,

TVPaint does have built in story boarding tools that Harmony doesn't because TB has a separate product called Storyboard Pro that it sells.
I Look forward to seeing your new art style!
Good luck!
