Patreon question

So I'm curious (to those of you who currently support people, and those who don't) what is it that makes you want to support artists via Patreon?
Like, do you collect hires files, psds, etc?
Do you like exclusive content? (I currently don't plan on exclusive stuff, other than first come comm slots, which I haven't implemented)
Do you like putting input on polls, etc?
I'm just super curious, even if you don't support anyone on patreon - is there something that'd make you go "oh hey i'll maybe support for a month or two".
You can poke me here on this journal or on my patreon post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/so-uh.....-would-9264248

I do enjoy exclusive content, but that's not the reason I support, it's just a nice aside.
I don't usually put input in polls.
The two people I support I support because I really like their work and feel like they deserve a little kickback.
I don't have a lot of money to support people, my comfortable budget for furry is like $10 a month, which I have to split between two people. At the start it was people A and B, I eventually bumped off B to donate to C because B wasn't putting out anything, it was basically a tip jar which I'm fine with, but the project I wanted to see completed never had any progress whatsoever and there was another artist I wanted to support.
Person C had a comic going, they had some exclusives available on Patreon (I wasn't a supporter at the time), someone leaked them to u18, and I read ahead there. They put out a journal pleading how shitty a thing that was, and how broke they were, and how when that happens, paying people stop paying because they know they can get it for free. Made me feel god awful for doing what I did, so after that I stopped going to u18, and started supporting them on Patreon. A buck a week, basically nothing as I can't afford much more, but happy to support them anyways.
If I had more $$ to donate I'd probably do a little each for a lot more people.
I'd mostly just be payign to help a friend out at a cost within my budget (And as a friend I wouldn't be surprised if I could get the highres if I asked politely enough.)
I don't want to influence what you do - to me, patreon is a means to clear up space for you to do your own stuff instead of focusing entirely on commissions. If I opened up a patreon, it'd be just to give myself funds so that I could fund my own art/writing combos instead of relying on others. That's me, though. Still, I'd be down with putting myself in raffles to be in YCH stuff or somethign to that effect (Some people do this, depending on what tier you're at, you get a certain amount of raffle tickets per month, and a YCH is drawn with 2-3 characters you pull from a hat.)
That said, if I am being a patron, highres art packs are...absolutely crucial, the very bare minimum. PSD/Sketches/WIP stuff is next up, followed by everything else.
and let's be honest, even if you weren't my friend you're one of like a dozen artists in the entire fandom I'd throw 5-10 at every month.
But yeah, The only thing I'm really not into is giving me power to control art/commissions/YCH stuff I'm not a part of. Like I said, I firmly believe that Patreon should be there to give you MORE power and MORE Freedom, and MORE cotnrol over what you do, not tie you down more. That's just my 2c though.
I usually like getting input on what to do next, what people like to see, or see me do more of when I work on my own time. (Lately my creative mind has been blank, per recent events, so lately the input has been helpful.)
It's still in it's early stages, I think I've only put out 3 months rewards so far. But I've been including sketches, hires files, and all my psd/sai files. I'd like to also compress the lineart into workable coloring pages or something if people want to play around with it.
I really do like the idea of raffles though, but I heard that Patreon kind of looks down upon doing that? But who knows, I can always give it a try once or twice lol.
Thanks for replying!
As for the reply, sorry my words weren't more refined, I was loopy last night, trying to get a lot of writing done and this was after the whole ordeal, so if my response was a rambling mess, I apologize!
In the end I only have a few people I can afford to support sadly, I only make so much myself so I can't help everyone I want to. More often than not that's what gets me to support someone, if I think I'm helping them with something. It makes me feel like I actually might be making a difference in this world for someone, and not just being a convenience for them at work.
But yeah, I'm totally down with supporting favorite artists, or artwork I truly admire. Thanks for your input!!
Where I do think it makes sense is whether as a direct tip jar for personal works (e.g. ongoing comic or game development) or with a clearly outlined goal the funds go to (other than "support me because I want to be supported") if that makes any sense?
I hope that helps a little owo

Yet, my point still is valid in this scenario as well I think? x3. If it's the case - why is it not clearly stated in the rules somewhere officially? But instead is passed around somewhere in the background?
If I pledge with Paypal and are aware of it's own rules towards adult items (which seem to differ a bit in each country by the way) it lays in my responsibility to not pledge for any NSFW items, including Patreon, unless I have an official statement it is an acknowledged exception ;w;
I'm sorry for my mostly contra points about it. I do think it's a nice idea and a neat platform and everything (basically something I'm still surprised fA is not doing as well).. but nothing for me at this point ^^;
and I'm not sure where to find it on their site, don't have a lot of time to hunt it down at the moment since I'm working on a deadline, however i took screens of the email about nsfw content and paypal :3

If i find an onsite statement in the future, i will happily link you :3
I'd really like to delve into more personal work, I think it'd be a great way to escape. I just need to settle on a decent idea I can run with. XD One o' these days. Thank you for your input!! <3
Being able to give input on poles/future content and seeing exclusive/behind-the-scenes kind of stuff is mostly why I've supported the few artists I have. That's not to say there aren't more great artists out there to support the work of, I've just set-out from the beginning to control my 'investment' (hate calling it that) at Patreon so I don't end-up digging myself into a hole.
Art-based 'perks' such as dibs on YCH and sketch-stream slots (if that starts-up) are like cherries on top. I can afford coms and such, but discounts on art or having a 'higher chance' of getting an idea quickly sketched-up in a stream are just nice to have too.
