So were able to have Jack put through surgery to remove his growth(s). I was stressed out through the weekend worrying he wouldn't survive surgery, but his bloodwork came back good so the vet said he should be okay. HIs age still makes it a concern, but he's doing good!
He has stitches on his neck and paw (he had a growth there too, but wasn't infected, just.. annoying him), and I'm having to watch him a bit more diligently for a couple weeks as they heal. I have medicine and a spray to help keep him healthy. Overall he's doing very well! He doesn't like the taste of his pills... but I find ways to get him to eat them, including having to close his muzzle until he swallows if need be. He spits them out if I try to hide it in soft food. -_-
He's been a bit loopy, but still eager to eat and mosey around a bit to sniff, explore, and get pets when he's not sleeping.
Thank you everyone for you help. Jack appreciates it, I'm sure. :)

The best way to "pill" an animal is to squeeze their jaws at just behind the juncture of where the lower jaw hinges to the skull. This causes the animal to open their mouth to try to relieve this uncomfortable pressure. Once their mouth is open, you put the pill in the back of their throat and quickly push it as far down their throat as practible with your index finger. Remove your hand and then stroke the front of the throat from top to bottom a few times which will trigger the involuntary swallow reflex. If all went well, the pill is now in their stomach.

I've figured a good method with my roomate showing me something similar. So far so good, he reluctantly consumes all his pills! :b
