Reflecting on top faves
I'm no fav whore, but I do love to observe faving trends through my work, both to gauge what people like but also who likes it, believe it or not but I actually check out the user page of every single new person that faves my work, both to see what they do and to learn about their interests by seeing what other works they've faved, you can tell a lot about a person from their fav gallery. I especially get delight from seeing faves of personal work by people who have their fav gallery hidden, it's like I'm getting scandalous clues to the more esoteric interests they may be trying to hide.
anyways, lately I've been observing some of my top most faved works on this gallery, and I'd like to talk about a few of them.
Starting with #1, "Tight Game of Poker"
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/12336342/
Standing at 202 favs, this has remained my most faved piece ever since I first created it. it was also one of my first commissions, done for
golddrake ; I took the artistic liberty of interpreting his underbelly as shiny and reflective like gold material would. I was definitely a lot more bold with how I handled things back then but at this time it payed off, the benefit of that decision was how it allowed me to show more of the setting while still having big, balloon dragons take up most of the scene.
I think with where I am now, I could definitely improve on this piece, and I may one day redraw it, but it does also serve as a constant reminder that nowadays I tend to be in too much of a rush to get something done, as a lot of my recent work doesn't usually have this much level of detail.
#2, "Dig dug is odd"
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/23280974/
a piece done during the height of my still-going fixation on fygars, This comes in with 190 faves. now the idea behind this image actually drew inspiration from an old commission plan that
tyrannozilla had, this one in particular: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/16244035/
if I can get the inspiration, I'd love to try another one of these, I just need to keep it within recent memory.
#3. "Jumbo Floatzel Balloon"
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/24654445/
a huge, inflatable weasel raft, what's not to love? maybe that garish screen toning look I was dabbling with at the time. anyways this piece clocks in at 159 faves, which is quite impressive for such a simple piece.
#4. "Mole inflation"
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/24542048/
This is another piece that really took me by surprise with how popular it got. not sure if it's because of it being an animal few people have done, or if it's the particular body shape, or if there's just an untapped market for inflated moles here. either way it has 150 faves.
#5. "Yooka Laylee themed Donation expansion"
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16619358/
well... hate to have to end this on such a sour note but this was a donation drive piece that I did as a last ditch effort to try and get rent paid to avoid an eviction.
the turnout didn't go so well, and I vanished for a while due to homelessness, I deactivated my account out of stress and frustration and only reactivated it temporarily to check out a note that I got. at the time I just wanted to disappear and fade from people's memories, so I left without any fanfare and hoped that people would just forget about me, I was in better standing when I did do this temporary reactivation but people saw it as me returning.
regardless, I'm still here now. and this piece has 145 faves.
sheesh, I really don't want to end this reflection on that note, let's look at the 6th one.
#6, "Dig dug is a bit weird"
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23295440/
a followup animation to the other one that I did as a birthday present to myself, as more of the kind of thing I'd do in such a situation. I know everyone wants to pop things or inflate it forever but for me, the highlight is the inflated subject.
honestly, it's why a lot of my work is set in the aftermath or near end of the inflation process.
This piece came in with 127 faves, and I'm wondering if the people that faved the other image but not this one were hoping for the fygar to pop or get bigger? maybe someday.

You're stuck with us. :| (... Unlessyoureallydon'twanttodoartanymore,inthatcasepleaseconsidergivingusclosurebutiunderstandnotwantingtocreatestuupiddrama *gaaaasp*)
for quite a while, I have been trying to find quicker methods towards creating work, a part of why my art style fluctuates so wildly.
And I like an art chameleon-tiger like yoou~ ;)
