I mean, art has the implicit freedom of being able to draw something and not have it have consequences or behave in the way real life does. If you set up rules that let everybody know that a character can be absolutely fine being bound and gagged for weeks or days, I see not reason for it to not be that way >:3

I honestly adore the idea of at least a pair of days <3 Of course with the power of imagination, in a world with characters that have an incredible endurance to pain or where they barely feel any, it can stretch to much more.

But RL even just a few hours, beign all bound maybe while your partner enjoys a few episodes of a series on Netflix is the best of the best <3 All while cuddling up of course.

A couple days to a week or two is ideal for me, depending on how restricting it is. Typical bondage materials like rope should be only a few days to a week. When it comes to stuff like straightjackets, those can be good for longer. Weeks maybe. And if you want to take it to the extreme and take the proper precautions regarding things such as feeding and waste, why not go for a month or two with some technical or more sci-fi bondage?

It'd depend, if you were to recive isolation and 0 contact from anyone whle in long term bondage; that's actually straight up terrifying for me; however if it's something like ''pseudo-slavery'' with someone actually looking after the guy and all; surely sounds like a fun plan

If there are no consequences, then a week or two is alright. But ideally there would be breaks to eat or use the bathroom or stretch because I wouldn’t want the sub to die. Irl I think a night is long enough for someone to be tied up. But in fiction if the basic needs of eating and using a toilet are not necessary and won’t harm the sub, then implied permanence is good too

I think it always depends on the person in bondage and the scenario how long it should be. Some people are more sensible to long-term bondage, others can't just stay long enough in bonds. But generally you can say, if your "victim" is in stationary bondage and fixed somewhere the session shouldn't be too long to avoid health risks. But if your subject can move, for example in a straightjacket and muzzled in a padded cell, like you described, you surely can let him there for quite a longer while, even days, if you take care of food, water and so on here and there.

But in fiction of course you have no boundaries, so it's pretty fun to let them squirm and moan for a long long time.

I prefer the scenario where someone is sentenced to spend the rest of their long life to an insane asylum and forced to wear a straightjacket and muzzle in a padded cell 24/7. They will never talk nor move their arms ever again.

I love that scenario too! Especially if they're all angry and thrashing around, trying to get loose but only getting frustrated and exhausted

For me, it's even more enjoyable if the 'patient' isn't insane and the whole case was a misunderstanding or was locked away to 'keep quiet'.

LOL yeah, same here! He was totally innocent, but they keep him locked away for life just to avoid embarrassment. All tied up and muzzled tight in his tiny padded cell where he won't cause any trouble for his captors

Oh, and I like robbery scenarios where a single occupant is bound and gagged in their own home while they are forced to watch their possessions being taken away and the robber leaves them bound and gagged all alone for dead... or at least until the victim can free themselves or someone rescues the victim, which could take days.

In the topic of bondage my preferred scenario has to be a loving one. Between two couples (for ex. male/sub - female/dom role playing) I love the idea, and this is what I desire most in life, of a man tied up (in his birthday suit so..naked) tied up in nylon ropes or even in ribbons. Putting some poor victim away in long-term storage is just -fantastically- hot to me. Gagged, bound from head to toe, and casually tucked away somewhere for an undefined amount of time. DEFINITELY pushes a fair number of my buttons.

Echoing what some people have said (and it's not meant to be cop-out), but honestly it depends on the people and the situation. What may be consider a long time to one person might be a 'quick dip' by someone else. Everyone's tolerances are different, and then of course there's the difference between fantasy and reality; for myself, I fantasize about indefinite bondage sessions, but I know realistically any strict bondage would probably last no more than 12-16 hours for me before things like, oh, cramps and severe pain would begin to creep in.

Regardless, when staying strictly to fantasy, the longer it is, the more I enjoy it. :D (Heck, my last story had nearly "eternal" bondage... gah, I'm a sick puppy.)

In real life it is a matter of great responsibility, depending on the person that is tied up and about the rules that were set for the session. If the rules are set and clear and ok with everybody involved, the fun can go on as long as they wish it to last^^

Up to a week with semi-mobility. Like locked in a room with an attached bathroom, or allowed to roam the house but with a straitjacket so you can't use doors. That way you don't need a caretaker to take time off work too. Those jackets are expensive after all.
