Thinking about rebranding eventually maybe
Posted 7 years agoI've been known as '9aia' for basically 7 years.
Many times though, even despite me displaying my name as Angie, I still get called '9' or 'aia'. Is it really that hard to tell that the 9 is a g, and my username is 'gaia'? I guess so, I can't blame them. Even with 1337speak was popular, i never saw the g being switched. I don't know.
I've been hovering over other username ideas, something where i can remain consistent over various art platforms and such. 9aia is hard to do since many new places want more than 4 characters or don't allow numbers at the start of the username.
But..
I've worked hard to build especially this FA account to where it is. I feel blessed that I even get semi-regular commissions, even new customers every so often. To build that up again from scratch would be difficult, especially with new rules FA had placed since I first made my account (the free art raffle rule in particular, which helped me a lot in my early years, unless things have changed since then.)
But, I made a new years resolution to take my art more seriously and more professionally. Being consistently known throughout various platforms seems like an obvious thing, right?
It seems so trivial though, doesn't it? Wanting to change just because I don't want to be called 'Nine-Aia'.

Posted 7 years agoHappy New Year everyone! I hope you guys had good holidays. I had a nice rest myself but now its back to work for me! Do YOU have any new years resolutions? Mine are to cook more and better, take a trip out of state sometime this year, and to be more professional with my commissioning work. I'm thinking about opening up a trello so you guys can know where I'm at. I'm also thinking about streaming via twitch if I can figure that out!

Looking for more players for PKMN pathfinder adventure!
Posted 8 years agoyou've seen my pic posting lately for a pkmn pmd-like pathfinder game, i hope. Well as it stands, its just me (Cubone) and my friend (Eevee and the DM), and possibly one more. But the more the merrier right? I'd like to get one more, maybe two if there's enough interest! Heck, three would be mindblowing.
The basic premise so far is that we'll be rping ourselves. Humans who turn into pokemon in a fantasy land like the PMD games. Context-wise, as humans pokemon were just the games.
Fights and spelunking and such will take place on roll20. RPing and everything else will take place on discord.

Tablet Monitor Blues
Posted 8 years agoThe past few weeks have been.. ugh, irritating to say the least. >< from my last journal, my computer IS better. I had to get a friend to disable some usb slots which sucks but alas. better losing four usb slots than no computer at all. until i got it back i almost completely beat the main story of kingdom hearts 1 (ps4). thinking about pushing for the ultima weapon but idk! i hate dealing with those mushroom heartless haha
A friend was really nice, selling me their yiynova tablet monitor for shipping - 30 bucks. and i do believe them that it worked for them too! i just couldn't for the life of me figure out how to make it work for me. i tried different drivers, i tried tweaking, calibrating, fixing what i could. but it only seemed to work on the tablet settings window and -only- on my main montior rather than the tablet itself. weird! and frustrating.
not that wacom cintiqs are guaranteed to work flawlessly either but damn! is it worth dropping at least 800USD+ on a known and trusted (dubious, i know) brand name? Its not like my bamboo hasn't been reliable either. I love the darn thing for how old it is. but i was hoping the tablet monitor would help me feel more professional about what i try to making a living from. i know you don't NEED a tablet monitor to feel professional. many professional animators use regular tablets. Bleh, i don't know!
So, frustrated, I finally am giving up on that yiynova. maybe if i save up i'll bite the bullet on a cintiq. someday. but until then, its back to work.
also. i've been using clip studio for my art lately for the past year or so.. but now i'm thinking about going back to sai. Hrm.
oh well.

Attention Commissioners! Unexpected Computer Problems
Posted 8 years agoAfter what i figured would be a routine graphics card update ended up doing something weird to my computer. We think its the usb wiring to the mother board is all mangled. Worst case scenario, I might need a new motherboard? Not sure. I guess better that than the hard drive? D:
