Just wanna give a little update that I've got a major operation happening in the wee hours of June 24th and there are definitely some risks involved. Especially since the last one was almost it for me. Everything should be fine but just in case I'm out of action for an extended period of time or worse, folks won't be left wondering why.

Suicide is a Terrible Thing
General | Posted 9 years agoIt is with a heavy heart that I write this today.
On Friday, April 22, my best friend and U.S. Army EOD tech Jacob Clark decided to end his own life. I'll never know what sort of personal demons that he was battling led him to this decision, or what we as his friends could have noticed and done differently. After he returned home from Afghanistan about a year and a half ago, everything seemed pretty normal with him, except maybe his sense of humor had gotten slightly darker and he had some choice opinions of the native population over there. All I do know is that he wasn't too keen on talking about his experiences over there save for some of the on base antics when him and his buds were bored.
The details are still sketchy at this point as the Army is still investigating because this happened on base. All we know at this point is that some sort of minor altercation, possibly with a superior, was the breaking point for him and he disappeared only to be found dead several hours later. Whatever it was that he was going through, he was masterful at hiding it.
I lost my best friend and gaming buddy, his family lost a great son/uncle/brother, and the United States lost one hell of a damn fine soldier. He certainly is not the first service member to take their own life, and he certainly won't be the last. This is an epidemic that seriously needs to be addressed in this country.
If there are any current or former military reading this, get help with any demons that you're battling. Once you're back stateside, the war is over for you and it's ok to ask for help coming to terms with everything. It's not a weakness. It's not a weakness.

THE HERO WE LOST Lost my Dad Today

Today I made the decision to remove my father from the ventilator that was keeping him breathing. His brain and other organs were beginning to deteriorate and so I executed his plans that he laid out to me. Doing this was exactly as he told me when he sat me down a year ago and explained everything that he wanted done if he ever ended up in ICU with a grim prognosis.
I sat down next to him and held his hand when they removed the tube and waited for his heart to finally stop beating. I didn't let go for another 20 minutes.
My father, Don Williams, had his last heartbeat at 1:17 PM on December 29th, 2015. He was 51.
I love you so much dad
I'm going to miss you so much
If any of you can reach your dads right now, go and give them a big hug for me and tell them you love them please.

My dad, who I still live with, suffered from a serious cardiac arrest while I was in Arizona visiting the rest of my family. We couldn't afford 4 $600 plane tickets so we drove 23 hours straight to my home in Washington.
The prognosis isn't very good right now because the lack of oxygen damaged his brain.
I'm a wreck, my family is a wreck.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
