So, it's been a hot minute since I updated! More changes in my life

For one, I left my previous job. It was...not pleasant. Spent a bit of time re-aligning things and getting myself back in order. Started working with a nonprofit that I really adore, with a team I immediately meshed with and love deeply.

I'm happy, I'm taking care of myself, and the sun is nice and warm and bright in the mornings for me!

So, it's been a good couple of months.

My birthday was this past week. A bit of a big milestone. Spent time with family and friends and those in my closest circles.

The bigger milestone, however, is the shiny new key sitting on my keyring. While I type this from my apartment, the key unlocks a door a little bit further away. I won't be moving in for a short while yet, there's work to be done there. refinish the floors... maybe repaint some walls.. and absolutely clean it up.

But, by the end of this month. I will come home from the salaried job I earned, in the car I bought, to the home I own.

Folks.. I made it. And I love you all for being with me while I got there.

Alright, to start, it's 2020. In the last few months I had my car lobotomize itself and eat $2500 out of my accounts. Joy.
I also bought a new car. Because fuck that old car. I really, REALLY, wish I'd been told the repair would have cost as much as it did ahead of time (some.. minor shenanigans with that) so I could've put that money towards the new ride, but I'm happy with my new vehicle, and the monthly payments are in my budget.

Now, onto the good stuff.

It's MAGFEST TIME.

I took a chunk of time off from work, I've a hotel room, and I'm hype as hell.

This Halloween, I drove out about 150 miles to visit good friends for a wedding. On the way to the afterparty, literally moments after I got on the interstate, my engine died.
I spent the next two plus hours waiting for a tow truck, getting towed to a gas station garage, and then taking an uber to a hotel.

I was safe, one of the small pile of coats I had gathered for costuming was in my car so I had something to keep me warm and dry, and I had a luggage of overnight clothing since I'd planned to stay up for the weekend. Family and friends were a phone call away so I wasn't stranded.
But my car was dead.
I got the call around midday yesterday that they could fix my car- a catalytic converter had gone tits up. It would be between 1000 and 1500 depending on what needed done. I am fortunate enough that my lifestyle and income supported having a healthy "oh shit" fund to cover this. The shop knew I was far from home and stuck in a hotel, and the mechanic said he'd do what he could. So, I extended my stay for another day and night, and waited for his call. That evening he called to apologize- he thought he'd have been done an hour before, but the bolts were rusted and the repair was going to take more time.

So, by 10 am today, I'll know what the situation is .

I spent vacation days for this. I wanted a relaxed weekend without stress and without drama where I could go be there for people I love on their brightest day, maybe help another friend move from a bad place to a better one, maybe go to a theme park and enjoy a thrill or two.

I'm tired. I'm stressed. Hotel waffles are goddamn disgusting and a bottle of water is $2.12 because fuck you, Capitalism.

I need a goddamn hug.
I need my car back.
I need a do-over on this shitshow that my weekend turned into.

It's another year of hyena. I've grown and changed quite a bit since the last update:

I graduated from university (Magna cum laude) - it took me a decade to do that. I fought HARD.

I got a job with a firm paying enough that I could get an apartment with 0 roommates in the historic district of a city I love. My commute is 15 minutes.

I got a lovely road-bike that can ferry me around town to wherever I want in minutes.

My mom lives five minutes away by bike- if that. My relationship with her is something I cherish.

My older brother lives about the same distance away, with his wife and their adorable pup. I started a Savage Worlds campaign with him and some friends and we're still going strong. It's lovely.



Yea, stuff can be stressful for me at times, I feel just how horribly quiet and alone this apartment can get some nights. But, I have a LOT of love and light in my life.

Just got myself more or less moved into a new apartment. I'm excited.

Lots of new watches lately (At least, as far as my perspective is concerned), so, hallo~

Right now I am working on arranging the following things:

Possibly some kind of consistent canon for the character

Synapsid form for  Raipanlong related things. (Have an artist I'm talking to, need to hammer out details I'd want)

I figure at this point I've got a solid number of watchers who may or may not check journal updates.
