Have got Shinies working on my account here. (Cus I AM a shiny so I figure if anyones gunna get hoarding em, its gunna be me, right?)
However.... how I'll use em is to give you lot, my watchers who have been following my artwork all this time, a way to vote on what pinup I end up drawing (or SFW if the desire is there) To iterate, not using this for cheap commission work. Ill be running a vote system for 4 or so choices and tippers can vote on which one ends up getting drawn at the $50 mark.
The choices for this round will be:
- Gryphon sunbathing on a cloud (SFW or NSFW)
- XO-295 (The big-boobed Xenomorph) riding a spaceship (NSFW)
- Wartortle Firefighter Pinup (SFW or NSFW) -OR- Arcanine Firestarter Pinup (SFW or NSFW)

Docs got back to me on the "Tumour", its a cancer, and theyve removed most of it which will buy me some time, but Im lookin at 5 years, give or take.

Posted 6 years agoWell that was a jolly good feeling while it lasted :P
I was having an average week, hanging out with mates, doing my usual fares, and then outta nowhere things got blurry, and then all of a sudden I was in hospital going through the MRI machine, with no recollection of the week before it. I'd had a seizure at home, first one Id ever had before, and wasnt found til hours after it, in the time my kidneys went into rhaphtodialysis. Theyre healing now, didnt do any permanent damage there, but the doctors did locate a frontal lesion (a type o tumour) on my brain that had lead to the seizure. They can fix it! But Ill be on anti seizure meds in the meantime, aaaand Ill spend the entirety of FurDU recovering from the surgery, so it looks to be a hard miss for that this year.
Artwork is gunna be slow in the meantime, while I get adjusted and come to terms with everything going down, but its still coming along. Just bear with me as I go. If theres anything that I do wanna ask, its of the FurDU attendees, and thats just to have a fuckin blast while youre there. Its the big 10th year shindig, make the most of it and have a hell of a time.

on the case, Im set to have my Skyder suit this year! Gunna be a tough job gettin Ol' Beakyboi into a full suit, but this is the same maker who made Shush, so I know she can pull it off.
In other news, spent my last Thursday at the Gold Coast helping produce a short introduction video for FurDU's 2019. Editing it is gunna be... interesting. But if you be attending the con, be sure to be at the opening ceremony, for a splendid scene of... me getting monopoly money chucked at me.
On the art front, Ive been studying a bit, working on stuff like hard shadows and studying composition, trying new things, and refining old ones. I got me a whole bookshelf of art books. This years the year I put em to good use :D

Neonfur was the second time Id ever dealt at a con. I didnt do too well, mostly because I brought art to sell at a con where everyone wanted merch. A failure of perspective on my part, and I didnt break even cus of it, but at least I got to hang with my friends Pye and Showtime the whole time and we still got to have loads of fun. Next year though, Im just gunna be doing photos instead, let someone else take my table and still be productive.
Ill be honest, I've been rather bummed out lately. Not PCD, my heads been in a tarpit for a few months now, this bogpile of inadequacy about the art I draw. The worst part is I keep so much tutorial material, a whole bookshelf of art books and a hard drive brimming with videos, and I know that if I wanna improve, and I do, its just getting into it and studying. But I cant drum up the motivation, or the discipline. And then I feel bone idle and lazy, and so goes around in a circle.
*sigh*
I didnt write this journal to complain. I hear so much complaining, I dont wanna be contributing to the problem. I just dont know what I need, some time to work my problems out or some drill sergeant to shove my head in a book and start learning. But somethings gotta change.
Better end this on a light note. I been in talks with suitmakers, hoping to get a Skyder suit made next year. Trying to save up to get that in the works, and working on a design ref, looking forward to seeing that become a reality.
So yay.

Well, the LED badges sold incredibly well, with lots of people hankering after one. So many in fact, when paypal saw the influx of money going in, they demanded I provide my details, including proof of ID and residence. Apparently a water bill, phone bill and bank statement dont quantify as sufficient evidence, so Im locked out of my paypal account until July when I can get a tax assessment. For those that purchased a LED badge, dont worry, I put in my own money to purchase the LED panels and materials to make them so theyre getting made, Im just irked and likely to limit my use of paypal after I get access back.
In lighter news, as many folks can see, Ive taken to using a lot of copic markers for illustrations lately. Ive taken to heading in to the city on thursdays to visit the art store and pick out more for the collection. Can totes recommend em for artists looking to persue traditional work, because theres a huge variety of colors and they can blend very well on the paper for impressive effects. I will point out that people looking for commissions with them, I do live in Australia, so mailing them out gets finnicky. Not impossible, but finnicky.
Aaaand suiting! Ive been taking Shush to the local meets on occasion, to hang out with muh furry friends and plot world domination (which amounts to shaking a blender at passers by). Unfortunately the poor robos a bit broked, since some kids at a playground got too rough with their tugging, and as a result, the cable to his left arm lights got tore out. Also all the booping! people dont realise that the voice modulator is pressed against my nose when I wear the head, so theyll boop his snoot and shove the VM up, which hurts. Been telling people not to boop but it keeps happening, and Im worried someones gunna smack one day and Ill end up with a nosebleed, or a broken nose, which would put a dampener on the proceedings <.<

Posted 7 years agoConfurgence 2018, 10 year anniversary, the big big one. Aussie furs from all over the country came to attend, to deal, to suit, to see the GoH's and to have fun, drink and be merry.
And this is where this journal gets hard to type. Did I have fun? Hells yeah I had a blast, but I was making an active effort to do so, which is hard when being social takes energy. So it was great, but it was also exhausting.... kinda glad I was in a hotel room with a spa.
Other than that, the con was great, the panels were informative and actually useful. Ino's suit panel gave me ideas for Shush (including how to better maintain his fluffy bits), Joaquins photography panel has me looking for new lenses to take much better pics, Silvixens panel I came away with tons of notes to help my artwork, and if you ever get front row on Kage's story hour, dont use a camera. Legit. Just take a selfie to say you was there, put the phone away and enjoy the show.
Just wanna give a shoutout to
, cus Ive seen plenty of furs that let their ego get to em, but she was honestly a lot more down to earth than I could have given her credit for. Was great to see her here in Oz, and I do hope she had a great time. I know plenty of furries here had one cus of her.
Only critique I could really give would be that the fursuit walk could have been better scheduled. Need more time between walking around in suit getting all hot and sweaty, and sitting in a crowded tent trying to frantically bid on art prints. At least enough time to get in a shower.
So yeah that was confurgence! Now with that all over, I gotta get ready for FurDU. Got some badges to start on and promote. (So if youre going to the DU, stay tuned, should have an ad out in the next week or so for playing card badges, FurDu exclusive)

The Updatening + 500 watcher giveaway
Posted 8 years agoSo, thing have been goin good. Toxi and Ronyo have been awesome housemates and its great to finally be in a house with a creatively conductive atmosphere.... also its much better than the broom closet I was living in before. We even get to host art jams every now and then where lotsa furs hang out, eat pizza and draw.
Work has been going alriiight, in that I'm a lot more appreciated than I was in the old store. However I'm on a lot less hours, which reflects in my salary. 380 bucks a week is easy enough to survive on though, and I keep money set aside for any bills that come knocking my way. Also saving money to attend Confurgence next year. 10 year anniversary, that's set to be a helluva time.
Now, to bizniss: I checked my fA watchers and noticed that the big 500 is nearly comin up... sorta.... well it will be for as long as this journals up. Point is, when I first got here, I didnt intend on being a big deal on fA, it was literally an account for accessing the adult artings in this manor. But its become so much more in a short time, and now its become my primary art gallery. Sooo, oughta celebrate in some manner, which imma do with a giveaway. 500th watcher, if he sends a note my way with references, can score an artwork for free. Nothing massive, but an artwork none the less.

However I'm on a lot less hours, which reflects in my salary. 380 bucks a week is easy enough to survive on though, and I keep money set aside for any bills that come knocking my way. Also saving money to attend Confurgence next year. 10 year anniversary, that's set to be a helluva time.
Now, to bizniss: I checked my fA watchers and noticed that the big 500 is nearly comin up... sorta.... well it will be for as long as this journals up. Point is, when I first got here, I didnt intend on being a big deal on fA, it was literally an account for accessing the adult artings in this manor. But its become so much more in a short time, and now its become my primary art gallery. Sooo, oughta celebrate in some manner, which imma do with a giveaway. 500th watcher, if he sends a note my way with references, can score an artwork for free. Posted 8 years agoWell, the work transfers gone through, the rental application got approved, my stuffs been transported and here I am, now residing in the comfy suburb of Algester (18km down the road from Brisbane), sharing a huuuge house with 
and her boyfriend. Couldnt have asked for a better state of affairs.
Now with this step forward, I want to take a more active approach to my artwork. First step to that is to streamline and organise it as a business. Ive been working on my terms of service, drafting up a business card and making adjustments to my commission prices. Toxi has been a big help in that regard, and I'm hoping by October I'll be set to taking on my first Dealers Den table at the new con Neonfur.
I'll keep you folks posted as changes occur, and hopefully this pans out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed all the same.

Well FurDU 2017 is just around the corner, and I'm getting stuff underway, 3 milestones this time round: First time staying at the hotel, first time as a sponsor, and first time with my own suit! Shush will be making his debut appearance this year, fingers crossed I can get all of his cybernetic enhancements made in time. I'm nearly finished as it is, just getting details made and then they're all ready for sealing/spraying... so shiny, so chrome.
Work is... being well, work. shifts are shorter now and I get the afternoon to myself, buuuut I get run ragged collecting trolleys when the store opens because my night-time counterpart has better stuff to do than his job.... which I cant fault him for, god knows theres stuff I'd rather be doing, but I shouldnt have t- ill just stop, otherwise its just gunna be me complaining
Other things! Art! I'm.. still drawing! My ipad can testify to that, loads of doodles on the thing, some just scribbles, others are studies. I actually managed to get some art made for FurDU's con book... nothing special of course, just a background piece, but if you open a copy of the book and come across a page with a lil kookaburra, thas the one I drew :D
Thas it for me. Keep an eye out, I got stuff coming along down the track. Ta ta for now!

Shush Suit II: Attack of the Update
Posted 9 years agoJust a heads up on how things went down with the amazon list idea. It pretty much fell apart on 3 key facts Id forgotten:
1) Xmas. Friends of mine saw the list, took it for what it was (a wishlist) and attacked it with their wallets... which lead to
2) Shipping. Getting stuff on amazon, dirt cheap! Getting it sent to Australia... cost about 4 times more than the product does. For real, it woulda cost $50 for one metre of that vinyl, which was priced at $8.97/metre. That was okay though, because of...
3) Bad choices in materials. Turns out the cosplay community has loooads of different alternatives to lining foam with leather. So although majority of list has in fact been purchased (by friends in 1, through alternative measures because of 2, the leather was deemed no longer required. Instead, foam is being sealed with PVA and spray paint and polyurethane!... soon as I can figure out how to do it.
So what does this mean for the rest of you folks? ...Brainstorming time
The items I listed in my list were essential for Shush-suit's design. However I am just one guy, and my ideas for Shush have only been my ideas. If you can think of anything thats blue, flashy, and might look good on a cyborgy dutch angel dragon, speak up! Im espeeecially looking for any blue LED gear, and I been prowling the online stores just in case.
And dont forget, all commissions sold from here til June are getting their names placed on a panel inside Shush's head as a dedication to your help, as are the folks who bought pieces from the list. Getting to be a pretty big list right now, and you better belieeeve imma show it here before it gets sown in. My heartfelt thanks to those who have contributed to getting this underway, I hope the end result wont disappoint you.

Shush suit - Update!
Posted 9 years agoSO, things are very much underway with getting Shush made into a suit. I got a reference sorted out, and the funds for making the suit are about 60% saved. Howeeever, the plan in motion needs to be explained, so that what comes next makes more sense.
Shush, is part robo, part angel dragon (well actually hes a normal angel dragon wearing robo parts but thas not important). , the incredible suitmaker I've talked with on this project, has agreed to make his angel dragon parts in a partial, head, paws, feets and tail. Was even nice enough to propose getting his blue markings to glow with the use of LEDs sown in to the fur (which in all honesty I hadn't even considered, but it sounds AWESOME!). My plan is to make the robotic components myself, using my limited knowledge of propmaking and my even MORE limited knowledge of electronics, which will entail making his mouth thingy, glasses and his arm and leg thingys.
I'm in the process of collecting components of the robo bits now, a piece here, a unit there, whatever glows blue or looks metallic. At this point Shush will currently have a (somewhat) effective Voice Modulator, and glowing panels on his arms. However more is required to see it complete, and that's where you folks come in. I mentioned in my previous journal that commissioners from here on would be acknowledged via inscription inside the head. Thats one way to see this made. The OTHER way is if I maintain a list of the components I need via an amazon list, and allow people wishing for artwork to pay for it by purchasing items from it. The more money you throw at the list, the better art you can get!
I wont lie to you, I am gainfully employed, and although monetary help is much appreciated for this suit, its by no means necessary. But since my commission money is going to this suit anyway, Id like to offer a means to decide how you contribute. If you cant pitch in, feel free to offer insights, or even ideas you think might make the end result even better! Some glowy thing you saw an ad for, or a new fursuit innovation you saw on youtoob. If you reckon there's something that will make this robo-angel dragon look cool, nows the time to speak up. (If the ideas good, you might end up on the inscription list without spending a penny!)

So! Work has been... work. Cleaning seems pointless when even staff cant be bothered to pick up after themselves, and customers complain about lack of "little trolleys" (aka the smaller shopping carts) as though Im the one taking em from the bay and off to Mexico. The bright side is Ive been able to negotiate shifts to allow for a weekly trip to Brisbane, so I can attend the local fur meet! Finally!
Those meets have been fun. Taking pics of all the awesome suiters there, hanging out, getting to hear from the other locals, eating bbq'ed sausages, amaaazing others with the size of my colossal iPad.
Seriously guys, ish an iPad pro.
On top of all this, I've been in talks with a local suitmaker, even got to flop about during one of the furmeets in one of her angel dragon partials. Many lols were had. Most of em at my expense.
Nevertheless! As a result of these talkings, Ive been able to secure a slot on her queue. Fingers crossed, by next June I SHOULD (.':"should":'.) have a partial fursuit of Shush, that quirky roboty angel dragon I drew up a while back. Fursuits are a luxury, and this is gunna be an expensive endeavour, but oh sweet mother of bacon its gunna be worth it. I just, I see how its gunna look when its all done, and I swear, thats well worth the price.
So, keep your fingers crossed everyone.
To offer some transparency, all art commissions bought from me from now til June will be saved towards the cost of that suit. I'll also be keeping track of those who do commission me, so that I can write their names on some sorta panel on the inside of the head, an acknowledgement of your contribution.

Well with pokemon GO being a thing I've gotten to walking a lot more. Even managed to rig a battery to my phone so I could hatch eggs as I collect trolleys. Aint gym-level good yet, but getting there.
Work... is the same amount of bullshit as ever. I got cut off my friday shift, which to be fair was only 4 hours, but thats $80 i'd rather haaave, and the store I work at has been at a huge convinience shopping trolley deficit for over 3 weeks now. Nonetheless, I've found a couple of places near where I work, such as an awe-inspiring bookshop that has sheeelves of art books, and an art school down the road that does open nights for aspiring artists. Lady running the place says I'm more than welcome to bring my iPad Pro along for some art jam sessions, cant wait to give that a go. Sort of attempted to hand in resumes at these places, but Im not sure that would go anywhere.
And well... art. As some of you might have seen my art has taken a weird direction, looking darker in tone. This has been because Ive taken to using the darkest tone of the subject as the starting point, as opposed to the mid tone. It means I dont so much paint as sculpt, applying layer on top of layer of lighting until the form is built. Seems to work well, but I need to tweak my application, be less dark and more voluminous.
Open for occassional commissions, if anyone is interested, fire a note to let me know, and I'll see what I can do.
