Trying to Revive
Posted 2 years agoMy FA page has been mostly dead for a while. I'm getting into a routine in our new home in Colorado. The good news is that I'm going to be able to spend more time in the studio.
I'm also preparing a bunch of old art I never posted while I'm organizing my files so look out for that.
A few things to note:
Vtuber streaming schedule upcoming, tune in if you can. Seiya needs more viewers to chat with.
New stock is coming to the Etsy store before we finish setting up and migrating to the main website.
I'm aiming to publish my first novel this time next year.
I hope you all are well. I've got more work to do and some brain rot to scrub.

General Update
Posted 4 years agoI know I've been really inactive, but I'm doing really well in school and I'm actually really enjoying it. We also just bought a house and will be moving on June 10th so I'll probably remain pretty inactive for a while. When I'm not doing schoolwork or decompressing with a video game, I'm working on project stuff that I can't post. I'm trying to make big plans and schedule my time so I can also be more active online, but that's still in the works. I hope I'll be around more after the move since everything will be on one floor, I'm hoping I can work in my office and still keep an eye on the kid. She's not ready for preschool yet and we won't be able to afford daycare.
I hope the start of everyone's summer is going well. Stay healthy, lovelies!

Goin' to School
Posted 4 years agoI'm enrolled in SNHU's business admin course. I'm paying mostly out of pocket so my comms and etsy are remaining open.
I don't get much engagement here, which is a little sad, but I wanted to update you all anyway.
Love to you all.

Moving Update [Small Hiatus]
Posted 5 years agoWe're moving next week, starting the 25th. David gets home on the 19th and we're starting the major packing after.
Commissions will be closed for a hot minute. I'll be on hiatus from the 18th forward until we're settled in San Diego, then I'll be back and hopefully a little more active since Ill have the hubby helping out with the kiddo.

Moving again (but not for a min)
Posted 5 years agoMy husband finally got orders so it looks like this fall, we're moving to the San Diego CA area. I'm not looking forward to it.
I moved out lmao
Posted 5 years agoSO I moved out of may parents house because SURPRISE my dad is still awful. I moved myself and my daughter to an apartment an hour away. She'll be two years old on saturday and is a hell child. I love her to pieces but she's a goblin. I'm still furnishing and building furniture and since the daycares are still closed, I'll be slow to update.
But HEY, I'm here, I'm happier and hopefully my daughter will chill out a bit over the next year.

Commissions + General Update
Posted 6 years agoI really just wanted to make a journal to remind folks that my commissions are open. Trades are currently only up for books or copics.
In other news, I've been having migraines over the last few months, and as it turns out, my car accident left me with whiplash that went untreated until last month. I had an MRI that revealed two bulging disks at the very top of my neck. They've been putting pressure up into my head, mimicking a migraine. They flared up again yesterday after getting a bit better so I've been struggling a bit with that, but I'm keeping on the meds until I see no symptoms.
I'm also beginning the first draft of my first novel!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween. Munchkin was Cookie Monster this year.

My car accident
Posted 6 years agoSo
Monday morning was a hell morning. I had an open shift and I'm not a morning person. Two 16oz coffees on the way to work after getting up at 3am. I worked 4.5 hours and then went home, normal Sbux shenanigans. Had a bitchy customer verbally abuse one of my younger coworkers over nitpicky complaints about her iced coffee.
And then I left. I had snack, got a coffee for the road. I made it most of the way home before I start getting tired but I was so close to my turn that I decided to keep going. I was just 10 minutes out from the house. I didn't feel myself nod off. I woke up already off the road just as I hit a stop sign. My air bags deployed, preventing me from properly slowing down and correcting my course, though they did keep me from further injury, I couldn't see what I was about to hit. I hit a telephone pole next to a small tree and surrounded by brush. The pole snapped and fell on my car, caving my roof in. I couldn't open my driver side door and my passenger door had to be cut to get me out. I was trapped for 40 minutes, 30 minutes it took to cut my passenger door. The EMTs dragged me out of the vehicle while I held the gash on my head to stop some of the bleeding.
By 3:15pm, I was out of the hospital in my mom's car on the way home. I have 9 staples in my head, my phone is gone, my daughter's tablet and car seat were damaged, and my car is completely totaled beyond any hope of repair. My daughter was not in the car and I got very lucky. The stop sign is what cut my head but it moved in such a way that if it had been even slightly off course, it would have killed me. If I had left the road a minute sooner, I would have hit a big oak that would undoubtedly have killed me too.
I was incredibly lucky but now that the adrenaline has cooled and I'm home and on the mend, I have a lot to do. I'm working with my insurances to replace the damaged items, replace my car and phone, but I have yet to get any numbers. In the mean time, I'm trying to raise money via kofi, Etsy and commissions to help cover some costs. Please consider buying or donating to help me get my life under control.
Luckily, I have a rental policy on my car insurance so I won't be out of work, but I will still need a new car soon.
UPDATE:
My phone survived with no damage!

Life Update!
Posted 6 years agoI wanted to share a few updates since I haven't been posting much and probably won't post consistently.
First! My daughter, Morgan, learned to walk and is now super active so working while she's awake is super hard. She's got WAY too much energy for a not-even-10-month-old. She'll e 10 months on the 16th.
Second! I'm working on concepts and scripts for 3 major projects that I've been sitting on from about 2 years to a few months, respectively. You'll be seeing works from these soon, just without a lot of detail or context.
Third! I've gotten a good response to one of my job applications so I'm hopefully starting a full time position soon.
And finally! I've had consistent trouble in trying to learn to drive but I'm persisting and trying again anyways. I'm hoping I have better luck this time.
FINALLY
Posted 6 years agoWe finally got the denial from the EFMP guys so we can push or my husband to get new orders and get back to the states. It'll still be a few more months before anything happens but we can at least start getting serious on house hunting.
And FINALLY GET OUT OF MY PARENTS HOUSE I CAN'T STAND IT HERE

Blessed Yule and Happy New Year
Posted 6 years agoI and the munchkin are both sick this holiday season and it sucks but I'm always sick around this time from the unpredictable Southern weather. Gran gave the little bit a cold and naturally, because she's my child and coughs directly in my eyeballs, I caught it too.
I'm still working on things and existing like usual, even packaged 5 Etsy orders!
I'm trying to get to a point where I can do art more regularly but with a very mobile 7-month old, it's not easy.

SURFACE DIED | I'm back
Posted 7 years agoSo my 3d Surface pro died. I'm never using one again.
But it's okay! I'm back. I got a Lenovo for less than half the price and I'll make it work until I can get something better. In the meantime, I'm getting back to work and taking care of my by while I'm waiting for this paperwork to go through so I can get out to my husband in Japan.
Stay tuned, I promise I'll post some art soon.

Crowbrat FAQ
Posted 7 years agoFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What payments do you accept?
I have a paypal, venmo and zelle account to accept payments. I can also take payments in person at shows and cons with a Square card reader.
What programs do you use?
I typically do all my drawing in Clip Studio Paint, sometimes do my coloring there or I'll use Photoshop CC.
What brushes do you use?
I use the basic EX brushes in CSP and use Kyle Webster brushes in PS.
What tablet do you use?
I work on a Lenovo Yoga 720.
What traditional material do you use?
Here's a list of what I typically use.
Ink: Holbein or FW
Watercolor: Reeves
Gouache: Reeves
Pens & Markers: Microns, Copic Sketch Markers
Brushes: Windsor & Newton series 7 kolinsky sable, Escoda synthetic sable
Gold: Liquid Leaf
Papers: Strathmore bristol or watercolor paper
Do you stream?
No. Sadly, I lack the bandwidth needed to stream in good quality and the strain on my PC is too much with my file sizes and makes my programs lag.
Will you draw [x person/character]?
If I'm not already planning to, probably not unless I'm commissioned to draw them.
Do you do tattoo commissions?
It depends on the subject, as with all of my designs. I've designed my own tattoos. I won't do anything with text or any subjects that I'm uncomfortable with, so there would be some discussion before I agree to it. But I will if I like or am comfortable with it.
Do you accept comic commissions?
Yes! But I won't write your script for you.
Do you do adult commissions?
No explicits, but I do accept lewds.
Do you draw [x fetish] if it's clean?
That depends on the fetish. Things like inflation or hyper make me uncomfortable so I wouldn't draw those, but some I would, so you would need to ask before I can agree to it. I always discuss commissions before I agree to them just in case I'm not comfortable with the subject matter.
Why is your post schedule so wild?
I'm a parent with a small baby and an adult with responsibilities and disabilites. Sometimes I just don't have time or I'm in too much pain because of joint swelling. I may also be working on manuscripts, pitches, or contracted work that I'm not allowed to post yet. Also, my daughter throws a horrendous fit when I don't let her play with my laptop or supplies.
Why are your prices so high?!
I charge professional rates. I deserve to be paid a proper amount for my work just as much as any artist. These prices aren't decided arbitrarily. I understand not everyone can afford them, but saving is a possibility and I can't undercut myself or other artists by charging inappropriately low. Traditional commissions are higher because they have the added cost of materials and anything used for business or promotional purposes have commercial fees and licensing fees attached.
Where did you go to school?
I graduated from Savannah College of Art & Design with a degree in sequential art (vis. storytelling) but I'm going back to school next year for a degree in fiction writing at Southern New Hampshire.
Where are you from?/Where do you live?
I'm from Alabama and currently live there but I'm moving to Okinawa, Japan soon.
Can we be friends?
Absolutely! I'm always looking for friends, especially those I can learn from. You can add me on Skype or Discord, but I don't do video calls as I usually don't have time.
Do you accept trades?
Sometimes, yes. I do trades in exchange for gift cards or art trades but only if I have the time. I can't work for free all the time, I'm sorry. I wish I could.
She's here! [Life update + Art news]
Posted 7 years agoI'm so far taking motherhood well, but I guess I was well prepared after never getting sleep during college. It's also nice having my husband's help for the first couple weeks, but he'll have to go back to Japan before too long.
That was a wild ride though. My mom came down from my hometown to stay with me until delivery on Mothers' Day and the very next day I had another fainting spell and my doctor agreed induction was best for me given the health issues and the proximity to my due date. I went in on the 15th for an induction only to find out our munchkin had flipped again and was in full breech position so my classic induction turned into a surprise c-section. I kept getting pushed back since neither I nor baby were in any danger. I didn't get anything on my stomach for 36 hours and my daughter was born with a mass on her gums so she had to be taken to the special nursery. I got to hold her twice in the entire 3 day stay after her birth. She was transferred to the Children's Hospital of Atlanta for surgery to remove the mass and got to come home yesterday. She's a little champ and a heartbreaker. She stole all the nurses' hearts at both hospitals and is charming the pants off her entire families on both sides.
I've got a a stupid huge amount of doctor appointments for both me and her coming up too.
I may be slowed down on art and uploading but I'm not planning on stopping any time soon. You'll get more updates if you follow my instagram since I post WIPs there as well as finished works. I tend to get behind uploading here since I can't do it from my phone very easily.
Commissions will still be available but will be more limited on slot availability.

Posted 8 years ago30+ hours without power, but the road over has it. I'm dying here. No updates from the power company, no estimations. Worse than Alabama's Superstorm 6 years ago. I still need to go to a doctor and can't even call in an appointment.

Commission info
Posted 8 years agoCHARLIE SEON | CROWBRAT COMMISSIONS
All prices based on cost of materials divided, flat commission fee and average time spent drawing plus any additional applicable fees, not by the hour. Fees will not be added on after the price has been given, excepting only when an excessive number of edits are requested. (IE: More than two major edits per stage of production.) These are not arbitrarily assigned. I am a professional and will conduct myself as such. I will also not haggle my prices down just because you can't afford my prices. You can save or don't commission. I'm not going to undercut myself or other artists by not charging enough.

Full inked sketch, single character $80
Full colored piece, 8.5x11 $120
Full colored piece, 11x17 $160

+$30 for color character extra
+$25 rush fee if requested by deadline within 3 weeks (no fee if no deadline specified)

REQUESTING
All commission information must be sent over an archival source such as notes or email. Emails must be sent to seon.charlie[at]gmail.com
Please put 'commission' in some fashion in the subject line.
PAYMENT
Payments currently accepted via Paypal or Venmo. Payments must be made in half for work to begin and in full for work to be completed and handed over. Upon agreeing for the commission, you are agreeing to pay the full amount presented. If payment is not received, the commission will be terminated.
TERMINATION
As the artist, I reserve the right to terminate the commission for any reason. This can include a lack of time, inability to complete the work, mistreatment of policies or personal misconduct. If the work has been started but is not near completion, only half of the payment will be kept and half refunded. This means that if you only paid half at the beginning but can't pay the rest, I will terminate the work, give you the half completed piece and keep the half-payment. If work is near completion, no refund will be made. If work has not been started, a refund will be made in full.
WORKS IN PROGRESS
You will be given WIPs at every stage for approval and will be given a second WIP after every edit requested. You MUST request changes to the drawing in the sketch phase or the edits will not be made. Edits to the inks must be made before color has started and final colors must be approved by you before submission. If there is something that needs to be changed after submission, then it is your fault as the commissioner for not communicating it. I will not go out of my way to make an edit no matter how small if it was not requested at the appropriate time.
If you're wondering about the label of your WIP status in my queue, it goes as follows:
Composing (loose sketch) > Sketching (detailed sketch) > Inking (final lines) > Coloring
Composing: Working out the composition and general layout of the piece within the size of the canvas.
Sketching: Detailed sketching to get ready for inking or clean up for sketch commissions.
Inking: Final line details.
Coloring: All color stages, flat, shading and lighting up to completion. You will receive a flatted WIP for color check to allow for corrections.
REFERENCE
References must be provided, either visual or written description. If reference provided is insufficient, I hold the right to decline the commission.
CONTENT
As an independent contract artist, I have an open mind about content, however, as a human being, I also have things I will not draw. This includes, but is not limited to; rape, incest, underage nsfw, inflation kink, stuffing, anything forced or non-consensual including feeding, "hyper" and more. If you are unsure whether or not I will take on a commission based on content, you can ask but I always hold the right to decline a commission based on content.
REUPLOAD
Only the commissioner has the right to reupload a commission. If the commission was purchased for someone else, they can also upload the piece. Guidelines for resubmission require that any signature or watermark be included in the resubmission and the caption must include some clickable link back to at least one of my accounts. Resubmissions that remove my signature or watermark or do not link back to me will receive a take down notice as this violates the commission agreement and infringes on my right as the artist. Unless you purchased ALL rights to the piece outside of the initial fee, you do not own the work. You can reupload it, and it may contain your IP but the work remains mine as the artist. Typically, I do not resale commissions but I require the purchase of the commercial rights to the piece should the commissioner want to sell it, whether on a print or tshirt, etc. There are different fees for small distribution vs. commercial distribution. These must be discussed before payment is made if you plan to distribute your commission in any way other than a free reupload.
RIGHT TO REFUSAL
I also reserve the right to deny working with any commissioner. To put it bluntly, if you're an asshole, I won't work with you. And if you turn out to be an asshole or difficult while working with you, I will not do so again. I will also deny commissions to those who make unreasonable demands. Remember that I am a professional and that you are a professional client. It is on each of us to conduct ourselves professionally and politely. You as the commissioner also have the right to terminate the commission at any time, but know that the refund will be adjusted based on the amount of work completed. Full refunds can only be given before the work has begun or in the thumbnail stage only. Once a detailed sketch is started, I keep a portion of the original payment to cover only the work already completed when the contract is terminated.
This information journal will be updated as needed.
