Find the Fool
Posted 8 years agoHere's some info about me. One of these statements, however, is false. Find out which one it is and I'll note you some congratulations and a horrible pun! Let's see who I can fool~
1. I once almost died from a dental appointment
2. I once learned a foreign language in 6-8 weeks
3. I once swam with barracudas and was too stupid to realize I was in danger
4. I once tracked down my stolen iPad to a city in central Mexico and eventually found the thief using a photo of his baby that synced to my phone
5. I have never smelled a rose
6. I was once called out and received commendations from my Astronomy professor in college for my contributions to the class despite never having studied for it simply because I already knew all the material. And then some.
7. I have been in nearly every longitude on earth save for a narrow band between Turkey and India
8. I once drank half a glass of milk before the curdled cheese bumped into my nose
9. I once kicked a knife out of someone's hand and (VERY STUPIDLY) caught it out of the air without hurting myself.
10. I once ate nothing but small box of cheez-its for a whole week.

If it were the website pulling this I could understand, but when basically every artist there is doing it... How did they coordinate this?

What I Need to Practice
Posted 8 years agoI've been thinking of what to work on in my art and I've come up with a few ideas. Mainly:
Soft shading: How to make a proper gradient
Highlighting: Making actual highlights instead of merely two shading layers
Line weight: Controlling the size of my lines to produce an aesthetically pleasing result.
Backgrounds (low priority)
Got any other pointers or ideas of where I could improve? I'll add 'em to the list and

iPad YCHs
Posted 8 years agoHey, all! So as you may or may not know, I do a whole lot of my art on my iPad. I'm learning a bit on using a tablet, but an iPad feels faaaar easier for me. Sadly, my iPad's running on three years now and as accumulated quite a few errors, not the least of which is a bug in its charging. Now it only charges if I turn it off and on again, and I'm afraid one of these days it'll stop charging entirely. And since that'll come without warning... I need to prepare a bit.
So I'm gonna be doing some YCHs to build up some money for a new one! I've already got a hundred dollars and I'll need maybe 300, 400 to buy a new one. So that means two to three hundred dollars... That's a lot, methinks. But hopefully I'll manage!
But if you DO want to help and don't have any money (or even if you do)... Got any ideas for fun YCHs to draw? Imma be making a bunch!

Tutorial Commissions
Posted 9 years agoSo I'm thinking of offering tutorial commissions as well as regular ones, so that people can learn more. When I was younger- and even now- I always enjoy(ed) seeing tutorials from artists whose art styles I like(d).
So I figure, if younger me saw older me's work, I would've wanted to see a tutorial, too, so I could learn how to do this or that or all sorts of things! Hence, older me should make tutorials.
I think I'll be making and posting them here and there anyhow, but if there's something specific you want to see I'll be happy to accept a commission demonstrating how I go about doing it.

Calling All Writers (and people who know of them)
Posted 9 years agoSo I'm on the lookout for some writers, especially ones who're nice to work with. If you know of someone, could ya leave me a message here in this journal or in a note or via carrier pigeon? Whatever works best for you!
And if you wanna toot your own horn and put your own name down, feel free! Really, please do!

Bring It, Losers!
Posted 9 years agoSo I'm taking a page out of
Grimsaurus's book (or journals, rather) and opening up a small RP journal for anyone who wants to lose a fight fight me. It's mostly a testing-the-waters sorta deal for now but it should be fun!
Recommended Rules/Suggestions:
1a. I might be a micro usually but let's assume I start out at a good 5 foot 6 so that this doesn't become a literal curb-stomp battle.
1b. Shrinking is fine, though!... If you can manage it against such a superior opponent, that is. And vore too if you'd like. If you're not into that sorta stuff though that's fine too. I might if the situation calls for it but probably not!
2. Keep things SFW! No lewds, deaths, disfigurement... You know the drill! And in vore that means no digestion either!
3. God modding: I don't mind one-sided fights! That said it's not so fun to make up powers halfway through the fight that counter everything I do. Less is more as they say and if you use just like one or two powers and manage to use them well enough to still beat your opponent that's an awesome way of fighting! Whatever floats your boat, though.
4. We all have timezones. If you have to sleep, sleep. If you have to do some work, work! Don't necessarily even have to say bye. We can pick it up when you're next available.
5. How to end the fight: Knock the other person out, pin them for three seconds/RP rounds, or have them surrender willingly! If you manage to eat your opponent you can also claim victory at your leisure. Or not, if that's what you prefer!
6. You got a recommended rule you wanna suggest? Feel free!
Now c'mere, my victims, and let's do this!

I've Been Robbed
Posted 9 years agoSo someone stole my touchscreen monitor and a lot of stuff from the person I'd been keeping it with.
We found out when I went to pick it up and it was missing. She looked around for it too and discovered a lot gone.
Can't stream now. Can't make art on my computer. Gotta save up money for something else to replace it.
Darn it. I was looking forwards to finally using it.

TALK TO ME!
Posted 9 years agoAsk a question, make a comment, explain the difference between the 5th and 6th dimension (according to eleven-dimensional string theory) to me because I CANNOT figure out how they're not the same thing. Say whatever you'd like but SPEAK, YOU FURRY WEIRDOS! I wanna chat.
iPad and Art
Posted 9 years agoMy iPad's been buggy lately and I think it has too little memory. I use it for art and it takes like a full minute to load a single undo, maybe a few seconds to switch between layers, and it on a rare occasion corrupts my files now. Not to mention opening the app without first turning my iPad off and on again is rather unlikely, and that is even worse when I have to switch between it and a reference photo or something 'cause then the drawing becomes impossible.
I can't upload pictures onto my computer the traditional way and the only way it works is via emailing or posting them to Facebook or... "Flickr," was it? Some Yahoo's photo sharing thing? In any case they upload maybe at the speed of mud, once a minute, so that' snot a viable solution.
I just deleted over six hundred reference photos off my iPad that thankfully were mostly used or otherwise not that good anyhow. I hope this helps but I may need a new iPad soon. Or some other method of drawing.
Edit: The purge seems to have helped... A bit. And either way I have a small backlog to post from!

Home again, home again
Posted 9 years agoSo I finally finished work at summer camp in the middle of nowhere. You know what that means, right? That's right! Free time to do spend as I desire and internet on things other than my phone! Woo hoo!
Greek Conspiracy
Posted 9 years agoI'm trying to make a setting for a story I'm thinking of playing around with but I'm trying to give micros there own names and I'm having trouble. I decided to very loosely base their culture on the Greeks but that's precisely the problem.
My first choice for what to call the micros in my story's setting was the Greek word for small. Turns out that's "Mikro."
The second was "people," since that's what they'd actually like call themselves. Turns out that's "Anthropoi."
So I've got micro and anthro.
...
That won't do. It's a Greek conspiracy, I tell you!
Edit:
Pygmy = Pygmaios
Pariah = Parias
Nano = Nano
*Screams*

knightvores
Posted 9 years agoHey all, just giving a PSA. There's a new guy on the block named Knightvores who's an amazing artist but who lacks a proper watcher-base what with his newness. He's holding a bunch of awesome auctions for really nice prices and you should definitely check them out over in his gallery before slamming that watch button.
Dude to be watched:

When to watch him: Now.

Commissions Open!
Posted 9 years agoThat's right! Commissions are open! You can find out about prices and such here! If you would like one, please send me a note!
I'll likely not have more than two slots, but it also isn't first-come-first-serve, so best try your luck!
Few rules so far, but they are as follows:
- Nothing you couldn't slip into a television show, so no gore or clear lewdities
- Deaths, if requested, should be implied
- Using Me/Roy in commissions is encouraged, and generally will not count towards an extra character in the final price.
- Micros may also have the extra character price dropped or reduced depending on their general simplicity
-Commissions below $20 may be paid upon completion (or at the commissioner's convenience)
-Commissions above $20 must be paid half in advance, and half upon completion (or at the commissioner's convenience). Repeat commissioners may have this waived

America Day
Posted 9 years agoDid you remember to leave out milk and cookies for Captain America? Set up your flag in your living room?
What gifts did you get? I got a gun that shoots fireworks and a flag-scarf for my eagle Libertas.
It was a fun day overall.

The Best Part of Art
Posted 9 years agoWhy is it that the best poses are the ones most difficult to make? Like a straight-on view of a face is alright, but turning it slightly makes it so much better, and it's even more betterer when you turn it on more than one axis! Hands are hard to draw in the first place, but no matter how you make them their aesthetics go through the roof when the fingers are in at least semi-complex poses.
But then it's always so difficult to make them like that. WHY, CRUEL WORLD?!?
