Apologies
Posted 10 years ago I do apologize for being not very frequent on here yet again. Real life has been kicking me in the tail and stressing me to death that I've been slacking in many fields that I'm slowing going to work back into. However it's now getting warmer and it's about Festival Season. Anybody have any festivals planned this year or maybe just clubs or shows you plan on hitting up? I had to back out on Seven Lions and Above & Beyond sadly as well as Spring Awakening, but I'm going to try and hit up a big festival next year. I've been falling so much in love with House music lately as you can see on my weekly pick in the footer. I can't get enough of Mark Knight and Prok & Fitch and the like.
Feel free to comment anything on your mind relating to EDM or the group in general. If you have any questions it might be easier to note my direct account instead of this one. Hope you all are doing well! Keep on jamming!

 ziggy-zerda 1000 Watchers + Asking Your Opinion
Posted 10 years ago Sweet! We've passed up 1000 watchers so that's a noteworthy milestone. I'm trying my best to be more active on here now and posting at least one journal a week minimum. That is my goal at least, so please feel free to note me on my main profile linked below if you want me to include any of your all's mixes, soundcloud, or just ideas for journals and talk. Also I have a new mix uploaded on my Mixcloud located in the footer of this journal.
Now I'm curious on how you all feel about a little something. What is everyone's opinion about big name producers branching away from their main genre to dabble and experiment in other genres they're not familiar with? For example Headhunterz straying from Hardstyle, Hardwell trying out trance and chill out, Skrillex's new non-dubstep tracks, etc. Not just these big names are doing it though I'm also noticing some new stuff from Zeds Dead, Excision, Andrew Bayer, and more. Do you guys like producers focusing on one genre or do you enjoy hearing these different sounds from these guys? Personally I love them experimenting.
Also I want to do more than just one "Track of the Week" in the header of our journals. Perhaps something like "Bass of the Week" for DnB, Dubstep, Trap and "Trance of the Week". I wouldn't mind having maybe 4-6 different tops for different variety of music, but I don't want to do a weekly best of each and every genre out there. Anyone have any suggestions?

 ziggy-zerda Live Performances
Posted 10 years ago So to start this off I want to go ahead and say that I have a brand new mix up on my Mixcloud. This time it features Dubstep and Drum & Bass with tracks from Excision's new Album "Codename X" and Hospital Record's "Hospitality 2015". You can find the link in the footer or this journal.
So tell me guys, any of you festival goers or have you been to any shows local or far away? I've been to a ton myself, too many to list off, but I do have it listed on my profile as a personal "achievement list", haha! Tell me some of the shows or festivals you've been to and which ones were your favorite if you've been to multiple. Personally my favorite was Excision last year, and I'm going again in March so stoked for that. I'm not too much into Dubstep anymore, but man this guy can throw a party! I've also have gotten to meet Mayhem as well as Markus Schulz at shows, which is super exciting.

 ziggy-zerda Music Labels
Posted 10 years ago So to start this out I sincerely apologize for the huge gap in activity. News is that I am now a wedded man AND a house owner and had so many things happening not with my personal life, but my work career as well. Again I apologize and will be fighting to be more active now that things are calming down. Secondly I am still mixing heavily and will be performing at cons soon when able to. I will now have a footer for this group for my Mixcloud link so people can check out my recent stuff. If there's any issues with this from any admins they have my permission to remove it, however it looks like I'm the only slightly active one at the time.
ANYWAYS, back onto topic. What music labels has been rocking your nights as of lately? Personally I'm really digging the new stuff that's being released on Spinnin, Monstercat, and Anjunabeats as well as Spinnin Deep and Anjunadeep. As for my favorite all time label, I'd have to go with Future Sounds of Egypt. Share with me some of your favorite labels as of recently as well as all time!
Let's Discuss~

You lovely people, as watchers, what do you want to see more on this page? Music links? Promotions? EDM Gossip? I'm curious to what you guys are expecting from this group that you have recently watched or have been watching for years.
Provide input below you crazy people!

 ziggy-zerdaFavorite and Least Favorite Genres
Posted 11 years agoI'm going to be curious and pry at everyone's musical taste buds. What is your most favorite genre and what is your least favorite? Discuss!
Personally my favorite is kind of a three way tie, because I love almost everything too much. Electro, DnB, and Trance. My least favorite is Techno, reason being it gets too repetitive and has too many noises going on for my favor. :I
Please share your thoughts, but please don't debate too much I don't want people arguing over opinions :3

 ziggy-zerdaNew Moderator on Board
Posted 11 years ago Yes there is a new moderator in town and it happens to be me. Now before I do an introduction of myself I want everyone to know that I have added everyone who applied under our member's list to get us caught up. Please check to see if you're listed on there and if I've forgotten you or if I ended up putting you in the wrong category please let me know! Now if you haven't applied yet please do so here. To everyone else who were interested in becoming a Mod for this group, don't worry! We are still going to be picking out some more hopefully soon.
Alrighty then. Now that we've gotten that taken care of, you might be wondering who I am. Hello, my name is Ziggy Zerda and I'm an EDM Nut and Adventure Goer. I have been in the EDM scene since, roughly, 2007 and I've been in this fandom for just as long. I started my interest in this musical taste with Hardstyle and everything related to it from Happy Hardcore to Gabber. From there I just really branched. Now the peak of my EDM love has been these past couple years when I picked up DJing. Now I have no experience producing, even though I have the know-how of music (just not the programs), but I do mix often. I started back in 2012 and when I had a horrible accident involving my controller and a bottle of water, I decided to take a break. By winter of last year I picked it back up starting with a Vestax VCI-300 MKII and recently sold that to get my precious Pioneer DDJ-SR that I'm currently using.
Now my EDM knowledge is very very diverse and filled with variety. Hardstyle, Trance, House, Glitch Hop, Drum and Bass, I know it all and I love it all. As I said before, I am an "Adventure Goer" so I've been to plenty of clubs/festivals (Including two EDCs) and seen plenty of producers. Some people I've seen are Armin, Krewella, Tiesto, Hardwell, Seven Lions, and so on. If you want to see my full list you can find it on my profile linked at the bottom. Also while you're there check out my teaser for my upcoming mix that will be FREE for download.
I hope to not disappoint you fanatics and I'm looking forward to keeping this group a bit more lively again like it used to be. Any questions or if you want to discuss something with me feel free to comment! I will see you guys real soon~

 ziggy-zerda Valentine's Day music...?
Posted 12 years agoSo Valentine's day is tomorrow.
... I think, anyway. Don't have anyone so, I don't care. xD
But I got to thinking, what kind of tracks are there for valentine's day? I have yet to see a valentine's day track. I've seen Christmas, and Halloween, and other holiday EDM, but none for Valentine's Day.
So if you know of one, share it with the rest of us! It could be about Valentine's day, or it just love in general.
and I swear to (deity) if you say 'Pretty Rave Girl...'

AmeDid Benny Benassi sellout?
Posted 13 years agoIf you're into the EDM scene, you've probably heard Benassi's practically trademark song, Satisfaction (If you haven't, just click it).
In 2011, Benassi made an album entitled "Electroman" in which, to me, he doesn't have the same feel or quality, as it had been last heard in 2008, with the Rock 'N' Rave album.
Electroman has tracks such as: All the Way ft. Ying Yang Twins, Close to Me ft Gary Go, and Cinema ft. Skrillex.
Some of Rock 'N' Rave's tracks are: Here and Now, Rock N' Rave, and U Move U Rock Me
Now, he probably isn't a sellout, he probably just decided to go mainstream.
Either way, this is a personal assumption of mine.
What do you guys think?

AmeAngerfist does experimental DnB? [Buckle Up and Kill]
Posted 13 years agoSo I've been on semi-vacation for the past week, and I come back to find two neat things.
The Meet the Pyro update, and a new EP from Angerfist called "Buckle Up and Kill (No Snakes No Glory)"
I'm obviously here to talk about the second one, as this is not a Team Fortress 2 group. c:
So here I am, thinking five new Angerfist tracks have been made, and I'm all excited. I'm thinking it's Gabber-type music,
I click on the video for Angerfist - Eraser, as that's the first video I saw, and before the video loaded, I noticed Danny had said:
I understand it can be a disappointing tune for some of you. but it's just something I really wanted to do. And did.
It's not like I gave up hardcore or anything...just an experiment :)
Now I don't know what to expect, and then it starts playing.
For the first minute, I was disappointed. I thought here I am, listening to one of the biggest names in the Hardcore scene, making some light dubstep stuff. Then it gets to about 0:50-1:00, and I was satisfied. This isn't some easy-listening track, as I assumed it to be.
To me, it seems to be a mixture of Dub/Brostep, Drum 'n' Bass, and Hardcore Breakbeat...
This isn't the first time he's done something other than Hardcore, I'm sure at least one of you has heard Kidnapped Redneck off of Pissin' Razorblades.
 Ame
AmeP.S. Sorry to always be talking about the Hardcore scene. D:
Edit: I should be specific. This is just one of the songs from his new EP. He has four more if you like this one.
Genres, subgenres, subsubgenres? WHERE DOES IT END?
Posted 13 years ago here~
 here~
Haven't posted for a bit, so I thought I'd throw something up for you guys.
Having a hard time figuring out what electronic genre is what? Well here's a few things to help you peeps out:

(The examples aren't really specific enough... For example, when on dubstep, it plays a different genre (brostep, which branches off of dubstep.))

(I skimmed through this one, but it seems pretty legit.)
Then there's a nice lil site:
http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/
And if you really want to dig as deep as you can into understanding the branches of electronic:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o.....c_music_genres
Pluuuus, just for fun, I'm going to add an absolutely fantastic postdubstep artist's song on here, James Blake. (You might want to grab a fat subwoofer; the bass is crazy looooooow):
Well, I hope this helps! :'D
Please please please! If you have better information and such on the the many genres/subgenres/subsubgenres/subsubsubsubsubsubsubgenres of electronic, put em down in the comments!Your choice in music
Posted 13 years agoQuick question, what's your favorite type of EDM?
It's not important for anything xD I'd just like to know how many people like what.
If you're not sure, then I'll change the question to: If you could only listen to one subgenre of EDM for the rest of your life, which one would you chose?
I try to keep my opinion on music out of the posts, but for me, it'd have to be gabber/hardcore.

Posted 13 years agoHey, it's again!
 again!
     again!
again!Since I can't get to sleep and I was trying to think of nice new journal to post for you guys.....
I remembered one of the most badass and humorous electronic artist of all!
Put your hands up for the baddest granny around, Ruth Flowers!
You'll never to be old to be dance under that one universal groove~Intro & Some Cool Info I Suppose :'3
Posted 13 years agoHeyo!
So I never fully introduced myself; the name's Vixous or Vixy or whatever. :'P
I've been raving for about 4 years now and I've always loved the electronic scene ever since middle school. I am not a DJ/Producer sadly, but gosh would I love it if someone could teach me! I use to be one of those nerdy, fake happy hardcore, don't-know-a-thing-about-the-culture kids... Soooo as an officer, I feel it is my duty to inform you about electronic music to the best of my knowledge!First thing to take into mind for any music is, sometimes you aren't going to dig the music. Music can sometimes be an acquired taste (especially with most electronic genres). Educate yourself a little and try to be open to new sounds.
I believe creating music should take talent; otherwise it just seems kind of wrong and tasteless. There are unknown DJs/Producers that work their asses off to make fantastic electronic music; these are the artist that should be recognized in the EDM movement. I understand that you like what you like, but some peeps have to realize the music they support can help or hinder the scene. I know the rave scene has been affected heavily by this new, North American, head-banging brostep. Why? More club kids or just bros & hoes show up to events bringing bad vibes with them. I've almost been trampled by fangirls, pushed around by club kids on cocaine, and have had an awful lot of trouble feeling "plur". It also seems that brostep can now be made by anyone; just a whole lot of wobbles and the same beat. Not to say that electronic is not consistent when it comes to beats and such, but I always notice difference in the sounds and a more artsy feel. I feel like electronic is slowly losing its character.
Now to get a little more down and dirty. B'I
Nightcore and Scooter; Let's get this straight, these "artist" aren't really who they say they are. Yes, I understand it's okay for DJ's to mess with others tracks, but saying the music is your own is kind of what Nightcore and Scooter are saying. Truth is... These dudes take old electronics, speed it up, maybe add a silly voice into it, and claim it as their own stuff. More Nightcore than anyone; Nightcore was made by some kids that just decided they wanted their 15 minutes of fame by speeding up old, 90's, trance songs. Many people have found this out and many haven't. I don't see it as wrong so long as they mention the original artist/song and do not claim that song as their own. My favorite artist stealing songs? :'O Yes sir, watch the vid if you want a little proof.
Oh gosh so much typing! Let me know if I made any grammatical errors or just discuss down there in the comments! c: Thank you for reading and I hope to post more stuff soon!
