Star Trek Continues?
Posted 10 years agoI just seen the first of the 4 episodes of the Fan-Based no-budget production of "Star Trek Continues" , and i have to say i am impressed at how well this was done.
The ship, props, lighting, background sounds, clothes, makeup, even the acting is damn great and near spot-on to the original for what it is to appear to be a continuation of the TOS from 3 + decades ago.

Home from Camp Feral :)
Posted 10 years agoreport coming soon on Camp Feral 2015! Was so much awesome again this year. ( Also the group photo will be up soon, along with the first ever Fursuit group photo at Camp Feral, with 30 fursuits!
*** CAMP FERAL 2015! ***
Posted 10 years agoSo Camp Feral 2015 is next week!
This year's theme is "Feral the 13th Part Two" and i have made a quick Jason Voorhees costume to go with the theme. :P Really lookinf forward to it agian this year.
The attendance predicted this year is up quite a bit apparently with many new faces attending for the first time. There are many new-comers in our cabin group this year, including GarthWolf, Clumzy, Tillwoofie, Weso, Mechanized Moot, Razor, Tigerpaws, and others from Michigan and East coast of Canada. fortunately due to the size our group has grown with all the new attendees we have two cabins together now for the group.
Also i will be bringing Dakkota Wolf again this year, and some plans are in place for a fun video with Archeus68 possibly & others.
A couple new suits will actually debit at Feral this year, one being Garthwolf's new suit, and possibly the angry Space-traveling Raccoon.
- This year as mentioned in the previous journal, a group fursuit photo shoot is planed for this year, ( along with the usual full group photo on the last day (Monday) but hopefully the fursuit group will take place on an earlier day between Friday to Sunday, ( Still discussing it with Potoroo to arrange a time slot)
The photo will be done on the front steps/entrance area of the main lodge, (weather permitting)
A bunch of us are gathering at my house on Wednesday night, (to maybe do new fursuit photo shooting) and then leave in the morning at 11:00 am to convoy together from here ( as i'm already an hour closer to Algonquin) to stop at the traditional Weber's BBQ place, Tim Horton's, and then make a last stop for Ice & snacks in Huntsville before arriving at Arowhon around 5 PM Thursday.
- This year i will have some items again in the Trading Post ( Dealers tables) on Friday evening after the Dinner. Will have mostly Fursuit related items and some Camp related items, including a few Head driers, Balacalavas, also will have a couple of the new folding Body-suit driers, couple tails, etc. Like last year, i will have some flashlights, glow sticks, etc for those in need of one at camp, (Flashlights are tactical style at cost-sale prices)
So who else is going this year?

- 1st Camp Feral group Fursuit photoshoot
Posted 10 years agoBeen discussing with Feral Chairman Potoroo about the possibility of a group photo shoot for the fursuiters at Camp Feral 2015 this year.
the number of fursuiters bringing their suits to Camp Feral each year are increasing, and from the info so far this year there will be possibly 15 - 20 Fursuits or more there this year.
The plan is to do the first Fursuit group photo shoot there, (weather permitting as long as there is no rain and dry conditions) we may do the shoot either Saturday evening or sometime Sunday. Once we look at the Feral Program schedule to make sure we pick a time/day to do the photo that will be good for most everyone ( not conflicting with other panels, games, etc.) i will post it soon in a Camp Feral plan Journal in a couple days from now. The time will be announced during the lunch gatherings once its set and arranged.
For now, who is interested in this photo-shoot that will be there with their fursuit? I will post more info soon in a couple days.

** Anthrocon 2015 Report! **
Posted 10 years agoSo i went to Anthrocon this year (have not been back since 2012, as i had a bad time there then) but this year was a complete turn around I really enjoyed this trip this time. The drive there was awesome with
tillwoofie &
frostyShepherd on Wednesday night.
The first night i spent with
coorandilla and his room mates, and from Thursday to Sunday i roomed with my mate
Garthwolf ,
Kofu, and
Aolun
It was great to see so many old friends and meet new faces there this year, and also welcome
animal16365 to the growing SSC fursuiter family with him debuting his new fursuit there. the con was a lot of fun this year, and the absolutely amazing Fursuit Parade that walked the street for the first time for the people of Pittsburgh made the con for me, it was phenomenal to see such public positive acceptance of the furry fandom, Anthrocon, and Fursuiters to the city of Pittsburgh.
There were many positives that corrected the bad moments i had in 2012, including the Dorsai seemed to be so much more polite and understanding to fursuiters, ( unlike my bad moment with one of them in 2012 while i was in suit)
I liked the fact that the Air conditioning in both the Westin and the DLCC were working great and able to keep up with the massive BTUs of heat generated by 1400 + walking fur-covered furnaces.
The SSC Fursuit group photo was done by the amazing photographer
Abrahm, and will post that soon. :)
Overall i enjoyed Anthrocon this year for the first time in a number of years.
My next convention will be Camp Feral in just over 4 weeks away, and them hopefully if i can make it, to Midwest Furfest in December.

Disaster strikes again.
Posted 10 years agoSo the heavy rain storm today caused more water to leak in the wall in the spare room, soaking the drywall in the same places. I should have been working on fixing this problem and not wasting time to get ready to go to a convention.
Putting off these repairs is going to cause more problems, like possible mold growing in the wall if i don't get this fixed.
EDIT UPDATE:
- so i'm discovering the drywall is wet & severely damaged, and with some mold beginning to grow on the inside. This is going to be a very expensive repair as it may require excavation of the entire yard on the side of the house to repair the foundation wall if its cracked, then complete tearing out of the walls and new floor i just installed in the rooms. This will cost more than i can afford, and do not know if insurance will cover it.
As it is VERY unlikely that Anthrocon will refund my registration and i already paid for travel insurance, etc. should i just go and deal with this when i get home, or deal with it now as it needs to be done asap. If the insurance do not cover this i will have to sell the house. If i have to sell i will move back to Newfoundland as i will have no other choice because of the ridiculous real estate rates and costs here in Ontario.
- There are photos of the damage on my Twitter accounts, but you have to be following them to see the photos.
- https://twitter.com/FirestormSixSSC (Fursuit SSC account)
- https://twitter.com/Firestorm_Six (Personal account)
- UPDATE: 7:30 PM)
[u]- As i have to wait for the damage to dry out with dehumidifiers before i can do anything, i will still attend AC ( as i already paid for stuff like pre-reg, travel Ins, etc. and woudl not get any refunds for cancelling. Though I may be a bit lacking in any excitement there as this mess will be on my mind knowing i have to face it when i get back. Also after reading through my Homeowners Insurance policy, it looks like this kind of thing is not covered, meaning this will severely put me in financial trouble or even could bankrupt me in repair costs, ( or last-ditch thing have to sell the house..

** ANTHROCON STUFF !!! **
Posted 10 years agoAnthrocon is only days away!
I have some things planned for Anthrocon this year since its the first time returning in 3 years.
Some stuff i had in mind:
-Was thinking of some things to do, maybe do a Fursuit-Builders Lunch meet at the Golden Palace Buffet restaurant nearby on Friday if any other builders are interested. ( as we did in the past at AC)
-Are there any Geocaching furs going to AC who would be interested in seeking out two or three of the local caches near the convention Center? let me know here.
As a reminder the Stormfire Studios Fursuit group photo shoot will be at 5:00 PM Friday in the convention center. Photos will be done by
Abrahm , and anybody else who wish to join us to take photos. **( All SSC suiters interested we will meet on Friday in the Convention center Fursuit Lounge near the Main Ballroom by no later than 4:30, then we will go to the 4th floor Room to do the photo shoot.
-Also maybe another Dinner meet for anyone interested?

Posted 10 years ago- As mentioned recently i managed to work things to attend Anthrocon this year for the first time in 3 years.
animal16365 has helped in organizing the SSC fursuit group photo with

** For all SSC fursuiters attending Anthrocon, if you wish to participate in the group photo, we will meet up in the Convention center Fursuit Lounge at roughly 4:30 - 4:45 PM Fruday, July,10th. (its on the 3rd floor of the convention center across the hall from the convention center elevator & Grand Ballroom).
Abrahm has agreed to help out & take the main group photo for us, and weather permitting we will be doing the photo as planned on the outsid terrace on the 4th floor overlooking the city & convention Center, or if its bad weather we will do the group photo by the corner windows inside on the 3rd floor.
- I am looking to compile a list of SSC suiters who are attending and interested in the group photo, so let me know and i will add your name.
If any other photographers wish to help out meet us at the Fursuit lounge at the same time listed above!
Suiters List:
- DakkotaWolf
- Max Lyon (Garth wolf)
- Animal

Anthrocon 2015 :)
Posted 10 years agoSo who will i see there? I will be traveling with
tillwoofie to there on Wednesday night, and staying with
coorandilla on Wednesday night then with
kofu &
garthwolf from Thursday to Sunday.
- A group photo shoot f0r the SSC suiters is planned too, (possibly either directly after the parade main group photo is taken, or at another time or day, I will confirm here in another journal of the time & place for that.
If it is better to arrange a different time than the parade we can if its better for everyone, (maybe Friday afternoon?) we can possibly do it then. The likely place would be near the windows in the convention center near the fursuit lounge/main ballroom. ( just over to side from the convention center elevators) let me know your thoughts.

** Fursuit Updates and stuff **
Posted 10 years agoCurrent fursuit WIPs and updates:
- Currently working on Animal Wolf, Raccoon Cos-play, Black Wolf, White Arcticwolf, White Lion WIPs,
a Fox head, grey/white/black canine head, and Shep head commissions to start soon, along with a Grey Raccoon, Grey/white Husky and another partial to open as soon as possible after i update the commission forms from the Main website.)
- Also hoping to begin to have a few of the new HeadDrier/BodyDrier units available soon if i can get them built in the next couple months.
- As people know i am still working 2 jobs, and working the Fursuit part without an assistant and alone, so its been difficult and a lot of work to try to keep up with.
I do however still maintain a build time of under 4 to 5 months from start to finish (*from once a commission is accepted and first payment is made & work has begun) I wish i could accept more commissions at a time, but i don't want to overload my plate and cause active & accepted commissioners to have to wait longer than the standard time frames, (If the suit is paid off quickly the sooner it gets completed as i always did.)
I would like to apologize to those who are still waiting to get a slot for a commission, as i can only do so much at a time and the demand for suits & commissions has been increasing far beyond what i can produce at a time.
- Anthrocon is definitely looking good so far this year, (after a 2 - 3 year gap) i have been convinced to go this year. I will post another Journal soon on that convention and the details soon.

My return to Anthrocon possible? -
Posted 10 years ago-There is a chance i may be able to go to Anthrocon this year if i can get some things worked out. (If i can get family to look after Rudy, (which looks good now) save enough cash to go,( should be manageable) and get a ride-share to there.
I have not been at AC since 2012 a couple years ago, and i may be able to attend this year if i can secure a ride share from my area (north of Toronto) to there from Thursday until Monday. (as i have to work on Tuesday and Wednesday if i switch the Thursday.
So right now it will really depend if i can find a ride share or not to Anthrocon that will determine if i can attend this year for the first time in 3 years..
If anyone has a spare seat going on Thursday until Monday, ( even Sunday is fine) I will share gas cost) let me know ASAP.
EDIT -June2,23,2015:
- If i can't secure or arrange a ride/share to get to Anthrocon by the end of this weekend coming i will have to officially cancel as its getting to close to it to get things ready. (arrangfe mt family to look after Rudy, get work rescheduled to change my Thursday shift, etc.)
This year was the only likely chance to make it there as next year or two i will not be able to.
(next year i will be in NFLD at the same time)

** Algonquin Camping trip May 2015 report **
Posted 10 years ago- Another big spring Canoe Camping trip has come and gone.
This year thee was 9 of us who went in our group.
garthwolf ,
indy5brad ,
firestormsix ,
bashley1991 ,
clumzy ,
silvrwolf ,
FrostyShepherd ,
shaylaskye , &
Sheriff. along with Shay's dog Kai and Indy & Bash's dogs Remy & Abby.
We all met ay my place between Thursday night & Friday morning, then left to convoy to the Access point in East Algonquin park on Lake Opeongo.
The trip there was good, nice weather, etc and we stopped at Weber's BBQ restaurant as tradition. We arrived at the lake, unloaded the 5 canoes, loaded the gear in them and began paddling to head down the lake in search of an island Campsite destination. We got roughly a kilometer out, then this wet stuff began to fall from the sky. we got wet. really wet. So after realizing we needed to get to a camp as soon as possible we tied all the canoes together and started up the little 6hp Johnson Outboard i had hanging on the back of the cargo Canoe and we "cheated" the canoeing-by-paddle part and motors the rest of the way to an island 9 kilometers away. :P
After we set up camp, (4 tents, lights, stoves, and got a campfire going) the rain finally began to ease off. The rest of the weekend weather was great, ( except for some thunder showers Monday morning when we left.)
We had lots of fun stuff, campfires, did some canoeing around the local islands, flew off several Sky Lanterns, wiener & marshmallow roasts, played with Leaches, frogs, Crayfish, June-bugs, and all kinds of weird aliens. The star lit skies at night was amazing there, the numbers of them and clarity was far more than could ever be seen in cities areas. Night time sleeping was so quiet, except for the retard Loons that screeched through out the night, and Kai growling at them. Saturday morning the local Park rangers decided to visit random camps on the lake and we were one. everything was good, except we have a number of aluminum canned beer, and they did not like cans. (supposedly on the parks website it states that there is a ban on "Non-burnable / non-reusable containers,) now we knew aluminum cans will burn and turn into an oxide ash in a campfire, but Ranger Rick with no fingers and his posse of-two decided they did not burn and were banned so gave us a fine of 125 bucks, regardless that it did not "clearly" define aluminum cans were banned, only glass bottles. As we all know its pointless to try to argue with a bureaucracy created by-law.
after Breakfast of Eggs Bacon, toast on Saturday i had to motor back to the dock to pick up Sheriff Shep, as he had to work Friday and couldn't make it until Saturday. (roughly 1.5 hours my motoring)
The rest of the trip was great. We had lots of food cooked up and meals, including Western Omelet Sandwiches, Fire-BBQ-ed Burgers, fresh corn & potatoes roasted, Home-made Spaghetti with meatballs, sauce and Garlic bread, Home Made Tacos, roasted hotdogs, traditional Jiffy-Pop camp popcorn, drinks, and more.
Sunday i set up the portable Camp hot shower stall for everyone to wash off the Friday's grit & dirt. :P
Monday morning we ended up getting up a bit earlier to rush packing up camp in fear of an approaching thunderstorm and even skipped the pancake breakfast to get back the the dock before we got hit by rain storms, ( which ended up clearing up and missing us. :P
Overall the trip was good, (except for the Friday & Monday rains and the Saturday Ranger Rick can raid)
as last year, i learned some new ideas and changes to make the next trip better. (as in setting up the rain-awning tarp first which we never did this time for some reason it ended up on the ground in the middle of the camp) and "labeling" every bag , cooler and container with the items list of whats in them. ( i kept loosing track of where i packed items in. :P
and definitely no cans of any kind and bottles. With the fine cost of 125 added on with the total of all other expenses i went over budget by 300 + bucks out of my pocket for the trip. For the ext trip i will make changes to how that's handled for the group costs.
- I will post photos soon here on my FA and Twitter over the next while, and will edit a folder of them to upload to my Photo-bucket or Drop-box for everyone to download if they wish.

This year thee was 9 of us who went in our group.
