Social media and other platforms update
Posted 2 years agoTwitter was dying (at least for me) for a while already. When Musk bought it, I stopped using it entirely. And since then it was getting even worse lol
I've seen some people migrating to BlueSky and I don't know if it will last or not, but I created an account there anyways. You can find me as flamsinger.bsky.social ( https://bsky.app/profile/flamsinger.bsky.social ? )
BUT
I've been active mostly on Patreon and Telegram (despite nor being very active in the past months for personal reasons)
Patreon link: https://www.patreon.com/Flam
Telegram channel: https://t.me/Drachennest
Here's my linktree with all my accounts everywhere: https://linktr.ee/FlamSinger
I'm not working with regular commissions anymore, btw. If you eventually want a drawing from me, please consider using Patreon, even if you don't stay for long =)
Thank you so much for your attention! Have a good day <3

Regarding commissions and Patreon
Posted 5 years agoI've been focusing on the Patreon rewards lately. It already completed one year of my Patreon announcement and in September it will complete one year of working on the Patreon rewards every month. To be honest, I never thought I would be able to work "like a normal person", monthly, in a stable manner, with art. But surprisingly enough, Patreon helped me a lot with that =)
That said... I won't be open for commissions in the foreseeable future.
If you want a drawing from me, keep an eye for Patreon openings. But I must warn you that the drawings I do for my patrons are not like my regular commissions; They're more wing-it style, giving me artistic freedom to draw whatever I feel like it's fitting for the character you've provided me.
I know many of you wanted some Telegram stickers or reference sheets, things that I do not provide via Patreon. I usually don't have enough energy to work on those things + the regular Patreon rewards, but if I ever feel like working with those things, my patrons will have priority, regardless of their tiers. I have a Discord server that I use to keep in touch with patrons, btw, making communication much faster and easier =)
Please don't send me any more messages asking about commissions. If we already talked about a commission before this journal, check my queue and you might see your request there.
Thank you very much for your patience and understanding <3
Hope you're all safe and doing well as best as possible during these times.

TL;DR: I won't be open for commissions in the foreseeable future. If you want a drawing from me, please consider becoming a patron: https://www.patreon.com/Flam

Current status and heads up
Posted 6 years agoHello everyone! It has been a while since I posted a drawing, not to mention a journal, so I'm writing now to let you all know that I'm alive and doing well =)
I'm still working on my queue, but it shouldn't take long to finish these last commissions. One is near completion and the other two are much simpler, so maybe I will finish them within a week, if everything goes right. Then I will finally be able to open some slots! Oh gosh, it has been 84 years @..@
But I also got to mention that I will travel for study purposes in June and I don't know how much spare time I will have while I'm there. The study period will last for two months and I should be back in the middle of August. I will take my iPad with me, so hopefully I will be able to work if I have enough spare time, but I doubt I could tackle on a more complex piece during this period and might be open for simpler things like clean sketches or maybe linearts.
I won't be able to do chibi stickers during that study period, unfortunately, because I couldn't find anything that mimics Paint Tool SAI on the iPad. If you have any suggestions or ideas of softwares I could try, please let me know! So far I've tried Clip Studio Paint, Procreate and Medibang. Medibang has a brush that can almost mimic that crayon-style I use for my chibi stickers, but it's still not that good.
Oh, yeah, also... Paypal on Brazil is not really worth it anymore, since it will turn any foreign coin into Brazilian Reais. This change occurred this year and I would like to hear from you all if you have any suggestion of another trustworthy payment method, something that you would be comfortable with.
Thank you very much for your patience! <3

Traditional commissions [CLOSED]
Posted 7 years agoHello everyone! I'm opening some slots for traditional art commissions.
If anyone is interested, you can fill this form: https://goo.gl/forms/T81XMnFsArlEHYyJ3
I will then select those that I think are doable as traditional pieces and get in touch as soon as possible!

And my ToS here
Thank you very much~ <3
..::FAQ::..
Q - Are you open for other type of commission? (like stickers, refs, etc.)
A - No, I'm open for traditional commissions only. Telegram stickers, reference sheets and character designs aren't available as a traditional art option.
Q - Do you work with mature (NSFW) art?
A - No.
Q - Can you send the original drawing?
A - Yes, if the client wants to receive the original. International shipping with tracking number is an extra $10 on the final price.
Q - Are you only drawing sergals and other Vilous characters now?

Free bases project
Posted 7 years agoHello all Vilous fans!
Recently I started a little project to offer everyone a free base (free lineart) of all 3 Eltus races: Nevreans, Agudners and Sergals. You can check it out here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26601059/
But to put it briefly, I created a fundraiser to gather funds to cover my basic work hours dedicated to this project. The main goal is to gather enough funds to draw Nevreans and Agudners of both genders. The stretch goal is a Sergal base =)
The bases will be free for everyone, but I depend on your donation and good will to make this happen <3
If you want to help, please donate at http://ko-fi.com/flamsinger ❤️
The Male Nevrean base have been unlocked! You can download it here.
Thank you very much everyone who contributed! Here's a small gift for you all: a chibi male nevrean base <3
The Female Nevrean base have been unlocked as well! You can download it here.
Thank you all! Just like with the previous milestone, here's a chibi female nevrean base for everyone <3
We are right now at 55%. Once it reaches 75%, the Male Agudner base will be unlocked! =D
Every coffee counts ❤️

If you are interested in commissioning me, please take a look at my ToS:
Click here for the commission's Terms of Service (TOS)
If you're looking for my prices, you can check them here:
Click here for the commissions base prices

Telegram - FlamSinger
Twitter - FlamSinger
Tumblr - flamsinger
DeviantART - FlamSlade
Weasyl - Flam
Furry Network - Flam
I'm not sure if I will be able to keep the monthly schedule, but I will try! Sometimes I estimate a commission to take a few days and it takes a week, sometimes it's the opposite. I ask you to be patient. Trello will be updated regardless, so if you want to check my queue, it's here: Flam's Queue
..::FAQ::..
Q - Do you draw mature or NSFW stuff?
A - No. I don't work with mature illustrations. I also won't draw anything too suggestive or anything that shows genitals. If you are unsure if your idea qualifies as NSFW for me, feel free to talk with me about it.
Q - Are you ok with drawing fetish stuff?
A - It depends a lot of the fetish itself. And if it's SFW, of course. I'm usually fine with SFW, light fetishes. If you are unsure if your idea qualifies as "light" for me, feel free to talk with me about it.
Q - Do you do payment plans?
A - Yes, if the final price is $100 or more, payment plans can be discussed.
If you have any other question, please, feel free to contact me!
Thank you~

Back from the trip
Posted 8 years agoVisiting Finland, Sweden and Norway was awesome, meeting everyone in person was awesome, but I had to come back. I know a month has passed, but to me if feels like a week only. I want to do it again! I feel like I haven't seen enough yet. I need another month to visit Sweden properly, as well as Denmark, not to mention Iceland.
I saw snow for the first time in my life and I will be forever grateful to Etath for all the troubles she went through to make NDG such a nice event. Thank you for the snow lunch, sky dragoness! And for receiving all these dragons at your house and caring for everyone.
Thank you for receiving us at your house, Kaho, and spending some evenings with us. You helped us a lot!
Thank you for the lovely day at Jyvaskyla, Neo, Ryx, Daniel and others! And sorry for ruining your lunch :<
Thank you Kanachimi for receiving us at your apartment and spending our last day in Finland with us <3
Thank you Shanrosh for the company and Cerapter for the delicious food! I loved to walk in the woods with you :3
Thank you Chris for the nice afternoon at Stockholm! I wish we had more time.
I hope to come back and see you all soon, someday <3

Little hiatus during June
Posted 8 years agoI'm writing this journal just to let you all know that I'm going to spend the next month AFK, so I won't be working on commissions during the month of June and probably won't reply notes or messages.
Also, I've noticed that my computer can't handle high-res images very well. I've experienced some heavy lag and slow responses while painting a 4k image, so I won't work on bigger/more detailed commissions until this problem is solved.
AKA I need to buy a new processor and memories for my desktop, maybe a new motherboard too, if I get a processor for a different socket. My system right now has an old AMD Phenom II X6 and 8GB RAM. CPU and RAM are hitting 90% of usage while I draw =x

COMISSION SLOTS WITH SPECIAL DISCOUNTS (read conditions)
Posted 9 years agoTL;DR: I was thinking about offering a discount to commissions with characters that belong to any social minority. Would anyone be interested?
Recently, someone asked a friend if I would draw chubbies, because they have never seen any example on my gallery.
Now someone asked me if I ever drew a reference sheet for a female character.
While those questions are totally fine, I noticed that my gallery is faulty on those aspects. It lacks representation.
Because of this, some people might assume that I don't draw that body type or that gender at all or even worst, that I have something against it, which is quite far from the truth!
Just so you all know, I'm pro body positivity, pro trans-feminism and I'm LGBT myself. I condemn any kind of prejudice, be it sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia or ableism. So... Yeah... This lack of representation is no good. And I want to change that.
So I was thinking about offering a discount for commissions with characters whose bodies don't fit the norm of our society and don't follow the beauty standarts (which usually is athlete-like thin, cisgender, all that). Would anyone be interested?
Apart from that, I will do some personal studies, which is something I already do from time to time and just don't post here because they're mostly rough sketches, but those who follow me on twitter or tumblr might have seen some.

Life update 07/16
Posted 9 years agoOne year since the last "life update" journal. Whoa. Time flew for me.
I spent nearly one year living in Piracicaba - SP with Khan, mostly working on commissions and traveling a lot. Good times <3
Now I'm back to Curitiba, doing a post-grad, living with the same roommates from college times, very close to the old apartment, too. Many things are like they used to be, but there's no tigon here this time. It's a shame. But at least I don't have classes every day, so I can travel to visit that tigon from time to time. Oh, I'm also seeing a psychologist again, to get the necessary papers to go through the surgery.
So I apologize for the hiatus. I was moving and settling things up here. Soon my routine will come back to normal, I think.
I have two clients awaiting for art and as soon as I finish those, I plan to open for commissions again.
Thank you for your patience!

Surgery fundraising
Posted 9 years agoHello. I'm Flam. I'm a transmasculine person. I was assigned female at birth. But I'm not a girl, never fitted in, never identified myself within the female universe.
Unfortunately, my body shaped itself accordingly to what society perceives as female. And it bothers me. A lot.
It's not only the fact that I'm misgendered (treated with female pronouns instead of male pronouns) 24/7. It sucks, but I can deal with that. The thing is that my body also bothers me physically; I want to remove these balls of fat out of my chest since they started to grow. They annoy me whenever I try to run or ride or do any physical activity. I'm never 100% comfortable and I hate to see my own naked body. It's not me, it's not as it should be! I should be flat, dammit. These things are alien to me.
Hormones can help reduce the volume and fat distribution, but to get completely flat, one needs a chest surgery to remove the glandes. So I'm looking for a good doctor to help me with that. I met a few already, the surgery I want can be done, but I didn't expect the cost to be so high. Well, at least to my pockets.
So far I have approximately half of the total sum that one of the doctors requested. I'm seeing about other doctors, though, because people said this one is charging too much. But either way, I don't have enough treasure on my hoard yet.
I have no idea how much time it will take until I get the full amount, but any help is welcome! All commissions payment are going to the surgery funds. Every commission, from the smallest sketches to the big character sheets, are helping me achieve this goal. But if you want to donate, too, I would be more than happy to reward your kindness somehow! ❤️
Thank you very much for reading and understanding.
~Flam
EDIT: Thanks to some generous donators, the funds jumped to 1/4 to 1/2! Thank you very very much <3

Little hiatus: travelling
Posted 9 years agoJust wanted to tell that I will be away from my desktop for the next two weeks.
First, because I'm going to visit my parents during the Easter holiday. From there I'm going to Curitiba to look for an apartment to rent and to attend a class. College is done and my family insisted it's time now for a specialization. Since they're paying for it, why not? Time to move to Curitiba again, for the third time in my life. I love that city, I love the cold air and cloudy days <3
After that, I'm going to São Paulo to see a doctor. No, I'm not sick, I'm fine. But I'm going to see about a surgery, if it's possible to do it soon and how much that will cost. I've wanted this surgery since 2010, but I thought it was not possible. I'm glad that I was wrong!
But yeah, that's it. I will be back to Khan's place and back to my desktop on 04/06, I think. Until then, I will see what I can do with pen and paper :v
Ps.: yes, I will have internet access during these days. Just won't draw anything on my computer.

Some ideas and changes for 2016 commissions
Posted 10 years agoHello everyone! Hope you all had a good holiday and that 2016 brings wonderful things for you! :3
A new year has started and I was thinking about doing some changes regarding the way I work with commissions.
The first thing would be writing a terms of service (TOS) for future commissions, writing down everything a client should know about the way I work, his rights and so on. I've checked other artists TOS', seeing what I had in common and adding whatever I thought it was necessary. Don't worry, it's nothing fancy. It's just that I think it's better for both of us, artist and client, to understand each other =)
EDIT: Here's the link to the terms of service!
Secondly, I was thinking about doing some "your character here" (YCH) commissions. Sometimes I feel like drawing a specific pose or clothing, mostly for training, but drawing faceless or characterless bodies is no fun.
I would like to know your opinions about it, about how it should be done, if you think it's better as an auction or a fixed price and so on.
And the third topic is about reference sheets. Character or reference sheets are the sort of work that takes most of my time. What you see as the final result is only a percentage of the time I put on it. There's a lot of "backstage" work, a lot of talking and sketching and fixing things, always keeping contact with the client and asking if everything is right, if everything is the way they wanted it.
And here I'm talking about characters that had some sort of reference already, maybe not as accurate as the owner wanted it, but a reference nonetheless. If what the client want is a character design, the time spent with the backstage work is multiplied.
So I was thinking about auctioning reference sheets and character designs and I would like to know what you all think about it.
That's it!
Thank you very much for reading~

Life update 07/15
Posted 10 years agoHi there! Almost a year has passed since my last journal update. Since then, a lot of things happened:
- I got a six-month contract to work in an Apple institution called BEPiD, creating art for mobile games and app. It was fun and interesting, even though we had some issues here and there. It's great to be able to do tons and tons of sketches and see them taking shape by other people's hands! I love to work with concept art =)
- Mishka became part of the family! He's a cute little baby snake, a boa constrictor constrictor. You can see a lot of photos of him (and also my cat) here: http://flamspets.tumblr.com/
- College is finally over! w00t! Flam has now a bachelor in Digital Design, which isn't much, but it was certainly fun. I made some good friends, met many nice people and learned a lot.
- Now I've been in the process of moving from Curitiba to São Paulo, even though I still don't know how long I will stay here. My roommate is nice, the city has a lot to offer, but I'm not really sure what to do with my life.
Meanwhile, I got a bedroom with all my stuff in it, including my desktop computer and my pets. Everything seems to be fine and since I now have more time, I was thinking to go back to business! But before I open for commissions again, I need to solve some pending requests. I remember I still had one commission to do, but if you're somehow waiting for something or want a refund, please, send me a note!

About critics and characters
Posted 11 years agoThe first thing I would like to talk about is critics.
I'm not someone who ignores critiques. I like them, specially if they come from another artist. Even better if it's from someone who visibly bares some knowledge about what they are criticizing. It doesn't mean that I will ignore critiques from non-artists, but I hope you got the point. If you never studied anatomy, how can you say anything besides "It looks weird." or "I don't know what it is, but something is not right."? Sometimes the artist already noticed that there's something strange on the look of that torso, but they can't point out exactly what's wrong with it. That's when we need a good critique from someone who will say "the rib-cage on that pose would work this way, not that, so change these few things and it will look better!"
So yes, criticism is welcome and much appreciated! Just keep that in mind and try to give artists some helpful criticism. Don't be the jerk who just comment with offenses and call himself a critic.
The second thing I would like to talk about is objectification. More specifically, fursona objectification.
I know some artists just create a character to please their viewers, their public, but it's not the same with everyone. Some artists do have a 'sona, which IS NOT a character. They use their 'sonas to express themselves, their feelings, their desires. It doesn't have to attend their viewers' pleasure. And that's my case.
My "character" is something deeply particular, it's a representation of me, completely bound to my own self. Every form of it is a representation of my own personality. For example, the anthro isn't just the anthro form of the feral, it has a different personality as well, representing some part of me. The same applies for the feral and what I call "fursona". Here's a stupid sketch explaining it a bit.
When someone comes and say "I like your character more like this than that" or "I think you should make it skinnier/bigger/stronger", it's not a critique. It's some sort of objectification.
It's ok to watch an artist because of their personal "characters". Just don't bother them with whatever idealization of their 'sonas you might have. That's kinda creepy.

Posted 11 years agoI bought the markers already! *tailwags*
But it's Brazil here, so I'm not expecting to receive them in less than a month or two, specially with this world cup thingy going on.
Thanks for all those who helped me! <3
Flam is working on your commissions the best he can.

Life and stuff
Posted 11 years agoBetween this time I've been away, I got a job, quit it after a year and now I'm dedicating my time to college, mostly. It was the job or my graduation and I didn't think twice about it.
I'm also starting my transition; I'm going to a psychologist once a week and I've seen some doctors already, even a surgeon. But the surgeon asked me to wait until the hormone therapy to do the surgery. Oh, and if it's not clear, I'm a trans* person, pre-everything: pre-op, pre-T... So basically I look like a girly boy. Not that I mind it, but some aspects of this body do bother me. Don't worry, I won't be talking about this.
I also met some new people and made new friends among the trans* group I've been visiting. I guess I needed some new faces in my life =)
Recently I could rest my mind a bit and decided to work on the commissions I owed. One of them was a traditional drawing I was going to paint with markers... When I noticed that I don't have the color needed. This made me want to rush my plans of getting a set of Copic markers, but there's a problem: Paypal.
Some stores don't accept Paypal, like Amazon, for example. And there's a limit of money you can spend when you don't have a credit card attached to your Paypal account, which is my case.
People from outside USA who have a Paypal account and receive money through it: when you buy something, this money is extracted from your Paypal account or your credit card? Since... You know... Different currency and stuff. And Paypal is weird.
I know this may sound like a silly question, but I'm not able to transfer dollars between brazilian accounts - so I can't test this with my roommates, for example.
EDIT: Problem solved! I think.

Tips for markers and pastels?
Posted 13 years agoI need to buy markers and soft pastel [dry pastel?] for the college. Any tips of good brands? =o
Regarding to paws...
Posted 13 years agoI don't want to disappoint anyone but, despite drawing a lot of stuff that seem to have paws as the main subject, I am not a paw fetishist. I'm not criticizing anyone who is into paws in whatever level, anyway. I don't have anything against it, it's just that... I'm not into it, y'know? ^..^;
You guys seems to like the pawzies I draw, for some reason. And I don't mind drawing it for you.
The problem is: I've been getting too many comission requests with this theme and I'm kind of getting tired of it.
Right now I'm working on Karosu's piece, but after that one, I want a pause so I won't be accepting any paw-related comissions. I just want to give it a rest for a while, so please, have a little patience ^..^;
Well... What can I say... I'm a person who don't like routine "XD
So I just want a bit of change on the requests I get. Thanks for your understanding :3

Adoptables: what's your opinion about it?
Posted 13 years agoI know some of you hate it, while others enjoy it.
But still, I want to hear you, guys :3
What do you think about adoptables? Your opinion? Your reasons to like or not?
I've been thinking about it in the last months. But I'm not sure about it yet.
If I were going to do it, I would only sell original creature designs, because I'm against those who draw a barely common gray fox and sell it as adoptable. If you play with the colors scheme, or so something different on that gray fox, ok, but just a gray fox? I dunno...
I do create character designs sometimes, and I have a bunch of them, but I usually don't post here because they don't get much far from a sketch. But if I see that there are people interested on them, why not paint them and sell?
Few examples of what I'm talking about:
Earth Dragon [sketch] http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6418734/
Fox Dragon hybrid [sketch] http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6418731/
Razoran, character created for a game http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7382434/ [so obviously I wouldn't sell him]
Just by playing with my own fursona, I came up with a new creature http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5785117/ [this is not recolor stuff, I just wanted to see wich color scheme goes better with the creature]
But still, I want to hear you, guys :3
