The road gets rougher.
Posted a week agoFell last Sunday in parents kitchen helping get the house ready for parents to back to after moms tripple bypass heart surgery. Fractured my previously broken left leg and thoroughly damaged left knee. Unless joint replacement surgery is done, I may have to say good by to nursing career. Was waiting for a response from a surgical center about a job I did an interview for but that is not happening now. No job, no insurance, no surgery. I'm out of action for 10 weeks, can't put any weight on my left leg that is kept straight by a knee lock brace. Nothing heard back from the whole car insurance lawsuit, so I am hoping that is all done with now. So... yeah, walking a rougher section of road now.
Be safe out there everyone.

In a loop
Posted 7 months agoWeird title, but eh. Been a bit since I updated people on things. Nursing was going well until December. Some daily migraine meds I was taking for a few months went haywire with my anxiety med for ptsd and I had to stop taking both, so I've been dealing with a lot of panic attacks. I was getting really sleepy often too that being a Night Shift Nurse didn't explain away. I have sleep apnea now, so yay for not breathing at night. So I've been sorting out a lot of personal health and mental issues since December. As usual, my job/work place is never agreeable with "injuries not seen / not caused by work" so I've been on unpaid medical leave and will be so until April. I've got some things going to help out, commissions are open and I'll just leave them open from now on. I'm a slow artist and not known much, but sometimes things will come through. Anyways, I am waiting on a Bi-Pap machine to be acquired through insurance, seeing a therapist, and soon will have proper meds for things cause it seems I have more than just PTSD/Anxiety. Toss in chronic depression and Bi-Polar at the age of 45. Left knee is getting loose again and cranky since the surgery in 2023. Happy times. So I'm in a ground hog loop of sorts for a while. Hoping to return to working as a nurse once all of this sorted out. Just takes weeks to get anywhere with anything.
So yeah, everything has slowed down, but I am still drawing, and yes, the comic still lives. Cheers!

Acute Rehab Nurse!
Posted a year agoJust updating everyone. I am once again back to work as a nurse! I work in a hospital now on their Acute Rehab Floor taking care of patients going through physical rehabilitation after surgeries, wrecks, accidents, strokes, and more. I am still drawing, just it will take long now depending on energy after working 3 days of 12 hour shifts each. My comic and future comics are still happening. Pages come out when they come out. Commissions are iffy at best if I'll accept any. Can still ask if you want. Various things are still healing physically and mentally from the car wreck last year but things are improving.

Knee Surgery
Posted a year agoTomorrow the 21st, I go in for Knee Surgery to reconstruct my two ligaments that were torn in the wreck back in March. Will be recovering for another 6 months. Hopefully by then I can function and be the nurse I was trying to be instead of a stuck at home broken mess. Happy Holidays!
Commisson slots are open.
Posted 2 years agoHello there from Nurse Fleety. Commission slots are open to get art from me. I even have reserve slots if you need time before you can afford to commission me. I don't bite, I promise, and if I do bite, I have all of my shots. Happy Holidays everyone.
Commissions are Opening Up!
Posted 2 years agoHello to you all. It's been a while since I dusted out the art work shop. I've healed enough, and gotten the backlog that the car wreck caused finished. I will be opening up commissions in 5 slot chunks to keep things easy to manage while still recovering. I'll be having knee surgery in December so that adds another 6 months of not being able to work. So commissions are my life line right now for bills and such. Have added stickers now for commissions! I love drawing them! Price Sheets will drop tomorrow and slots will be open. Get them while you can!
Thank you all for the help!
Posted 2 years agoI have good news all the way around.
The miscommunications over the hospital bill has been sorted out. The account was for paying the out of pocket cost to the Blue Cross / Blue Shield insurance company, not to the hospital for their medical fees. The hospital fees are covered by the insurance, the insurance fees are what I owe and is a separate account. I have things arranged and the bill will be paid off this month.
Arrangements as well have been made for a vehicle for me to get so I can get employment when released and I can make payments on it later when I'm employed.
Saw my orthopedic doctor last Thursday. He manipulated my knee and tested the ligaments. He believes two of them may be torn. I am waiting for their office to process an MRI Request with medicaid. Once the MRI is done, we can discuss options for a leg brace I hope, and limitations for work so I can get back into nursing on light duty, and part time till better.
Thank you so much for all the donations, the time to read these updates, the willingness to share my need with those you need, and the care and concern showed towards me. I'll be switching off the fund raising portion as all areas are met now and I can say with relief that aid and help are not urgently required. Thank you all so much! Hugs to you all!

Still Raising Funds - Please Help
Posted 2 years agoHeaded in for Wound Care Clinic today in a few hours. See if today is my last day on antibiotics or if Round 3 Starts. Still need to raise more funds as I'm far from paying off my medical bills, still have no income, and have no means of transportation outside of ride from my sister after her shift is done, or paying $15 for a round trip with Cherokee Strip if I know about needing a ride 3-4 business days ahead of time. So please consider donating or sharing my GoFundMe link. It would really help me out.

Nurse Fleety Chatter 4 - Please Help
Posted 2 years agoFunding has almost reached $2,000 out of $35,000. A long ways to go still on the recovery road as today I will start having to change everyone I am seeing over to a whole new team that will take Medicaid (Sooner Care in OK). So I am not sure what will and will not be covered anymore and what extra costs will happen since I must be referred now to my orthopedic doctor, PT, and wound care. Please offer a helping hand with a donation or sharing the GoFundMe link I have with others. Have a safe and wonderful day out there. https://gofund.me/cc83bf54

Posted 2 years agoHeart felt thank you to those that donated yesterday. I didn't get notifications till this morning. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've updated the Fund Raiser information to be more clear, and I now have a video explaining why I'm raising funds. Together we've raised $1,940 of the $35,000 goal needed and I am grateful for all the compassionate donators and sharers of the link. Enjoy your Memorial Weekend and thank you to all who have given their life to give us this freedom to help each other in need.

Nurse Fleety Chatter 2
Posted 2 years agoHeart felt thanks to donations yesterday. I wasn't able to be at the computer much as some heavy storms had me in pain. Together we've reached $1,555 out of the $35K that is needed. I'm sharing pics of the at home wound supplies I have to buy weekly to treat the leg between Wound Care Clinic Appointments on Mondays at the hospital. What was a wound the size of a dime during the wreck and passed off as non important by the doctor that day has become the size of a dollar coin, and inch deep, and lead to infection of muscle and an a abscess. Wound care supplies run me about $50 when I get them, and the Wound Care Clinic is $307 each time I go as insurance doesn't even cover it. As this wound takes time to heal and they discuss possible surgery or stronger antibiotics, I require the Wound Care Clinic to do things that I cannot do at home. I am remaining hopeful I can keep getting continuing treatments in June.

Nurse Fleety Chatter 1
Posted 2 years agoWanted to thank everyone that donated yesterday to the Help Nurse Fleety Heal and Get Back To Work fund. A decent start to raising the needed funds. The fundraising continues as the task is still on going for me to get better.
Let me get a little cozy with everyone for a moment and chat. When you're in a car wreck or any major accident that keeps you out of work, the bills sent to you aren't you're only worry. That's just the tip of the seen iceberg bumping into you. There's the continued treatments to get you back on your feet that you have no clue where you can get the funds to afford them. There's medications and antibiotics that are needed. Countless doctor visits and imaging. You may think insurance will cover it, but if you can't work, well you can't afford insurance and coverage will end.
Medical bills and health is not the only major issues you face during these hard times of an accident or injury. Many of us out there have only a single vehicle for use and if its totaled and gone, the lifeline and independence to go work, take care of errands, and make sure you can continue daily and even get to work is gone.
I know times are hard on everyone but consider doing at least one of two things to help me. Please donate to help me, any amount even small is appreciated. Or copy the link for the GoFundMe and share it with everyone to spread the news someone is in need. I can't do this alone. I need help.

Severe Car Wreck and Me
Posted 2 years agoWell, hello there to all. I've been in the hospital for the last 25 days in two hospitals, one in Tyler, Texas (Trauma Center), the other here in Enid, Oklahoma (Physical Rehabilitation Floor) following a very sever car wreck I had in Texas attempting to assist a friend. Without all the TLDR things, friend is okay and back home, and I am finally at home for the second day. A lot of pain and waiting for out patient therapy for an impact fracture on my left elbow and a fractured left femur being held together with a rod. That said, I am alive and intact. My car is a total loss, they had to cut me out of it then med flight me in a chopper to the trauma center. That all said, any who have faved my art and started watching me, thank you! I am unable to respond to the pile up of notices, but thank you. Art and commissions are in limbo still but I have not given up art. My nursing job is still secured and waiting for me when I am well enough for light duty. Until then, I am living off of what little I have on me and no vehicle. Going to be rough figuring out things from here on out with medical bills and transportation but I'll sort it out. Thank you all for your love of my art and may your day be safe and happy.
Full Time Nurse!
Posted 3 years agoI'm working at a nursing home as a full time nurse. It's fun and challenging. Art is slowed down a lot as my days off are few, but hopefully the quality improves more with the reduction in quantity. All commissions in que are still being worked on and take priority of most of my art time, so they will be completed and my commissioners have been very patient and understanding. Thank you all! Ciao for now!

Posted 3 years agoI have done it! I survived my Licensing Exam this past weekend. I have now become an official LPN nurse! Now to find employment as a nurse and see how far my nursing career will go!
