COMPUTER QUESTION D:
Posted 10 years agoOk,
So a kernel goes nuts and consumes a core (13%): NT Kernel & System.
- There is no correspondence or pattern relating with any of my activity, clicks, processes, usage.
- Tempratures are good
- Software is fresh after a full recover/reinstall/reformat (had a bluescreen during Recover, but got in through MSOOBE operation).
- Hard Drive light is constantly illuminated during the hangup/overclock of my CPU.
What's your hunch regarding my 3 year old Solid State Drive? Could this be the SSD going bad? It's a 2 hour roadtrip to go get my OEM HDD, but thinking about trying it.
Thanks!

Posted 11 years agoOff to Africa
Posted 11 years agoHeaded to South Africa this afternoon. This time, it's by way of Dubai!
I'll be staying in the Pretoria vicinity on business and with a little pleasure on the side. I'm really hoping to get out and see some giraffe this time, and enjoy a proper Christmas braai.

Protests
Posted 11 years agoMajor shit is going on downtown tonight. I haven't seen a protest, nor a police force out like this since the May Day Melee.
Twitter?
Posted 11 years agoDo a lot of furs use twitter? Is it worth the time - that is - do you see more of a conversation going on over there?
TMI Tuesday
Posted 11 years agoIt's still Tuesday for Hawaii furs!
Police
Posted 11 years agoI never have trusted police from the moment I was walking downtown at the end of the 2007 MacArthur Park protest. What I saw and later read made all the things they teach in history class come alive. More recently I learned to fear them and avoid them as I watched innocent people shot with rubber bullets and bombarded with teargas by columns of swat team members.
After tonight, I am contacting the ACLU and looking into whether I have the resources to hire my own lawyer. I'm lucky never to have been a victim of any crime until my encounter with the local PD in my own community three hours ago.
I am a citizen and I will not let my country devolve like this.

South African Furs - I Love You
Posted 11 years agoThere are so many reasons you are awesome:
1. You mix summer vacation with Christmas
2. You take a month off for both AT THE SAME TIME
3. Christmastime is a mix of beer, springbok steak, and cricket matches and sausage braai
4. Zebras mow your freeway medians
and
5. Three of the above mean my boss was wrong, and 26 hour plane flights the week before Christmas is indeed NOT GOING TO WORK.
Who's an SA fur out there?

Fursuit Tourney Endorsement

My editorial department has recommended that you vote for Doctor Fox. I wholeheartedly agree because I know for a fact that the person inside has a heart of gold.
He and I are good furry pen-pal, friend, furry sort of buddies; and I stay connected with him because he's one among us who I think has a particularly empathetic personality and is full of the good kinds of energy.
His fursuit also has glasses and a tie. So, you know what to do.

Posted 11 years agoI cannot stop eating from this salami package.
Posted 11 years agoThis always happens. I buy abag of salami thinking I'll be snacking on it.. And BAM half of it is gone. Foxbelly.
It would be awesome if we could upload from an IPhone... I'd pay a few dollars for an app too. Of course, my iPhone is so old I can't even update enough to partake in any app.
Someday Verizon will not make me wait 30 minutes in a store - perhaps then they will take my money.
Deciding not to open my laptop tonight has been a wonderful decision though. I actually took out the trash and bothered to go to the market so I'm not eating from my bag of frozen peas again.

Dieter Rams, everybody
Posted 11 years agoAs a designer, I often look to Dieter Rams. Take not the form of the quotidian of things for granted; these are the artifacts of his vision for a simpler, more elegant, and more efficient world of things:

The shape of almost everything today is a result of his work. Even if he did not design it, he influenced it. Consider decisions such as knob proportions, numeric arrangements, rounded edges, use of plastic, speaker and vent grilles. None of this was settled. So, look him up!

Posted 11 years agoSo about FC
Posted 11 years agoNothing to report here, sorry. I haven't been to FC in about 6 or 7 years! My last time was at the Doubletree and it was a real high for me - So many existing friendships enriched and I made lots of good acquaintances.
I need to get a room, but I have no knowledge about what's good or bad and how it's all connected physically. As far as I understand.. the hotel is a separate building, but it's connected? Which hotel is more fun?
Don't really know where to begin. Don't have my fursuit either any more. Should I fix this?

I will make a point to listen to no music all weekend; the only sounds tonight are crickets, bats, cicadas, and the distant UP freight trains.

Well, she's out.
Posted 11 years agoThis woman (if you can call it that (it had teeth and spoke a human language)) has moved out; and, she forgot her canned trader joes beets and canadian bacon.. both in the "crisper" drawer of the fridge. This has made my week. Even better: the drawer was set to "moist"
Currently jerking off, eating canadian bacon with dill/sea-salt triscuits, and pairing that with an Alaskan white ale.
Live is simple, and good.

I'm Alone Again
Posted 11 years agoThe only communication I'd had with my significant other involved a bevy of mid-Saturday text messages from her saying that I am "lost", and that I should "repent and find Jesus." I knew then that the woman I fell in love with 2 years ago was completely gone.
As my only open channel of communication with her appeared to be text messaging, I told her that I could not continue and did not want any relationship with her. This was hard because it felt as though I was inflicting a wound upon my self when I sent that message. I had no choice - this was a woman saying that I led her to evil by taking her to see Petroglyphs in the desert. It had the feeling of taking your very ill and most cherished dog to be put down.
This was a serious and long term relationship. We'd been on two vacations together, shared so much in our interests, we even looked the same. She was the one whom I'd chosen to share my most cherished and secret spots in eastern California and Nevada. She lived with me, and I was beginning to plan the timing of a possible proposal to her this autumn. At this point, our lives were so integrated that I cannot find peace or solace because everything which gave me that comfort was something we purchased together (or for each other) - various gifts, photos, cards, blankets, most of the food in my fridge, even some furniture. Sitting here, I'm surrounded by artifacts of our by-gone love.
Fox is not well and feels very alone. I'm guess I become too attached - perhaps needy. I'm such a soft person inside. I've been crying so much because I desperately want that person I once knew two years ago back again - but she does not exist now.

My Girlfriend
Posted 11 years agoMy girlfriend is a nutcase.
After weeks of telling me her chakras were not aligned, she's now left me to spend the night with some girl "who is closer to the Bible and in touch with God". After a long evening of prayers, she has decided she will not be returning home this weekend, and possibly into next weekend. This may pose a problem for her because all her stuff is here. This whole thing is so Orange County.
I'm not really up to this nonsense, and I'm not really sure God is either (even considering that I was raised Catholic). I have a stressful job and do not have the energy for this. Now, I'm lonely, not because I don't know where she's gone, but because I feel like the girl I knew died several weeks ago and was consumed by this creature. Thinking of changing the lock on my door.
As ironic as this may be, coming from a furry, I need more normalcy. I think tomorrow is going to have to be left-over holiday pumpkin ale and a trip to the model train store.

Unfinished Art
Posted 11 years agoI have about 10 or 12 unfinished pieces going right now; I kinda putz around with one or the other depending on my mood. Does it make sense to upload the unfinished work or process sketches? Is that exciting at all or just kind of a giveaway?
I'd pay someone to finish all my work though. Like those facebook ads for getting your house cleaned, lol. Get your furry art finished for only $19! I need a collaborator so bad.
"I don't like the word finish. When something is finished, that means it's dead, doesn't it? I believe in everlastingness. I never finish a painting -- I just stop working on it for a while. I like painting because it's something I can never come to the end of. Sometimes I paint a picture, then I paint it all out. Sometimes I'm working on 15 or 20 pictures at the same time. I do that because I want to -- because I like to change my mind so often. The thing to do is always keep starting to paint, never finish a painting.
