Been Busy
Posted 14 years agoI'm very much around but my presence in this fandom is going to dwindle as I've got other priorities at this time. Juggling 1.5 jobs, a design competition team, and keeping a research track open is enough for one meerfox; that and I'm trying to get back into a lecturing groove this spring.
Additionally, this graphics computer died (or at least its power supply), so I'm basically relegated to a netbook for the next couple months. All this means no art unless I gather the patience to work on a 10" screen in the two hours of spare time I probably shouldn't have each day.

RAINY DAYS ARE THE BEST

Personal Attacks
Posted 14 years agoThere's an FA user that is spending his hours shouting links and making journal entries with his take on my personal life and background. This has been his response to my blocking him from an intelligent journal discussion wherein he reduced the conversation to personal attacks and filled the air with his extravagant opinions.
Please do not assume any of that is true unless you know me or my situation first hand; otherwise it's hurtful and offensive. I care in as much as I give a damn about this fandom, my interest in which is dwindling with each year. If he causes me enough trouble, I'll just leave and let him win his war on this sorry art site.

In other news:
- I played starfox on my snes an hour ago and it was so great! Timeless and heart-pounding if you really try to beat em.
- San Francisco this weekend.
- I'm full-on ready for Thanksgiving/Christmas because I haven't had time for it in two years.

Finally Back to It
Posted 14 years ago...changing the world. Landed a consulting position researching the potential of California's aqueducts to be recalibrated as a multivalent framework, not just for water delivery, but also energy generation and public space. I still need to find long-term employment, but I'm nonetheless elated to be once again furthering infrastructure innovation in California.
Unfortunately, this means dialing the stress level back to MAXIMUM. I've got a couple weeks to finish our calculations and come up with some state-wide bond proposals. All this while finishing a separate competition to re-imagine water management in arid parts of the state. Fortunately I've got an 8 month start on that. Still nothing like working on competing projects at the same time.
Confused professionals ask me what I do, or want to do. I don't know what to say to that any more; this is the real face of urban sustainability.

Occupy
Posted 14 years agoIs anyone taking part in the Occupy protest in Los Angeles? Just wondering, because I've been thinking about applying myself to it.
In other news, the first stop of Occupy Boston appropriately begins in Harvard Yard. I wish I could be there so bad. Go if you're in town; it has a branch coming from every school:

Occupy Wall Street
Posted 14 years agoWe need an FA account to show support for Occupy with the avatar. This would not be a show of fandom support for the movement, as this would have an substantively staining effect, but rather a way for each individual to express whether or not they are aware and stand-with the ideas it supports.
In the spirit of the movement, it would have the account details (it's own gmail address, gmail password, FA password) posted with information at the top. If even 20% of its content is vandalism, then 80% of submissions, shouts, and journals would be true to the cause. The only real concern is that it could be taken down by someone; however, that would simply show the myopic nature of those who oppose its ideas.
As to the ideas behind it, I think we know about as much as we can surmise from the nebulostrosity that is the Tea Party. It needs no explaining, only depth and volume.
... and I'm too tired and have too much to do tomorrow. So, lol.
Nice rainy night in Boston, crickets in the grass and raindrops on leaves in the suburbs of Brookline. That's one thing I've missed about the East Coast.. the forests :3

East Coasting
Posted 14 years agoBusy times. I'll be lecturing at a couple schools on the East Coast next week, and throwing in a visit to New York City. I also just landed a job interview at a firm in Boston; I wouldn't interview there unless it was this firm.

I've always been tempted to upload an art Tutorial of some sort. I doa few things, from fine art to furry porn, so the question is what would get most folks going. Mostly just curious... as if I'll ever have time for this.
::FURRY::
Timon (and avoid the Timon pitfalls)... the basis of all my characters.
Feet \ Paws
Tummies :)
Foreshortening
Searching (all those sketchy lines I use)
Eye Expression
Note: I'd never do coloring because shading is a fundamental for any art education; also, there are too many approaches, and mine is always changing.

I only just now (like 8 years later) realized it's the same chord progression as a certain Michael Jackson piece. Recognize it? Ugh, that guy is due for so much more credit than he receives.
Anyone need an architectural designer?
