Good news but uncertainty remains(work update)-UPDATE
Posted 11 years agoEdit: Got more or less the indirect confirmation, through an handshake and wishes of good luck from a co-worker leaving early today for the weekend, that tomorrow will be my last day at work.
So I guess that's how things go. Next week I'll slowly begin to search for work again. Expect art streams for commissions too.
So I got a big whallop of new plans on my desk at work today. Normally, that should be more than enough to last me the week. So that's a good new.
This said, uncertainties still remains. I still don't know whether or not I -will- be working next week or even for how long. Before today, work also came at such a trickle pace that even though I'm crossing my fingers I'd rather not bet everything on this either.
Anyway, just keeping you updated folks.
Also, for another head's up.
Mikakitty has had a -very- rough time lately and could certainly some emotional support: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6062761/
She's been a very good friend to me over half a decade, and with the support she's shown me in the past and everything she put through during that degree, she more than deserve any support or kind words you folks might have.

The best thing one can do for an artist...
Posted 11 years agoPrevious journal: 08/23/14-Weekly Update-The state of things(please read): http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6052026/
During the last journal, after receiving the bad news about my job for this next week, I said the best thing one can do for an artist is not to tell them that their work is good, but to tell everyone else that fact.
It's now my turn to do that for an awesome artist I consider, and have told to before, awesome.
So any folks who enjoy, nay, love fantasy works be it furry or not. I suggest you give
Stasis_Delirium a look because this guys hasn't had enough folks telling -others- how good they felt he is. Because he's seriously awesome.
And I'm not talking about his skills at crafting maps either. Just look at this thing: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14355596/

08/23/14-Weekly Update-The state of things(please read).
Posted 11 years ago The news: Of not so pleasant news
I'd be kidding if I said the last week has been easy.
Work, as with most of the month, has been a rush to get urgent projects out of the door for our clients due to our office and welding workshop moving the next month. As a result clients have had us work at full capacity and the only reason they haven' us work even harder(at least in the welder's case) was because there just wasn't enough room to get anything more onto the workshop floor.
However, in that rush to get everything ready ASAP, it means us in the offices had to make sure the plans and drafts for -every- projects at hand had to be completed as soon as possible.
Which lead me to one of the unpleasant new I got this friday. Namely, with everything we had to rush out the door as fast as possible.... unless our clients come next week to my employers with completely new projects they can then assign to me to produces assembly plans and drafts for.... I'll be basically finding myself unemployed come this next friday. The workshop is full... but it's so because we got out all the plans and assembly schematic that we could. And though the workshop now have more work than they can handle even if they started doing night shifts... we ourselves in the offices are finding ourselves with pretty much nothing to do that would require keeping two drafters(one with 15 years of experience) on the floor.
Originally I was hired to help them with the glut of production of drafts and plans they needed to get done due to current projects. This was originally though and envisioned to be, loosely speaking, a "contract" of 3 months. However, come next friday unless miraculous new projects land on our lap, I'm finding myself after only one month and a half of work. Even bosses didn't expect they may have to lay me off so soon.
It's been... I don't want to get into it at length, but it's been mildly frustrating. Perhaps more than mildly. to say that such was not in my plans would be an understatement. And with other plans I had to cancel because of the job originally... this adds a bit to the frustration.
I'm not despairing though. I've still got some notable amount of commissions to go through right now with an almost full queue. But it does add a lot of layers of uncertainty as I don't know what to expect at all next week. I was (sort of) getting on track again with commissions before accepting the temporary job offer. Now I find myself facing that job offer being even much more temporary than expected.
The ironic part in all this, is I might find myself very likely laid off on almost the very same date that they had to lay me off last year, for the very same reasons as last year was when the office ran out of projects to keep two drafters occupied rather than just one.
I don't like to asks for help, because I've always been one who felt I should find and work my own ways out of things. This said, until I find a new drafting job(thankfully, apparently there's been quite a lot of demand in the newspaper for drafters lately and I live close to a couple of industrial sectors), I'll need everything I can to make sure things don't go from "uncertain" to "going down" proper.
I've heard someone say in the past that the best thing you can do for an artist is not to tell them how good of an artist you think they are.... but to tell everybody else how good you think that artist is.
So, for those who've often told me you liked my art... I'll admit I would be very thankful if you could spread the word.
In the meanwhile, I'll be trying to complete as many of the commissions in my current queue during my free time before the end of my work week(and probably time at my job). I'll also be making more of a concerted effort to keep all my galleries up to date on content and commission offers(like the pre-posed werewolves designs references) to try to spread my commission business as much as I can on my own until I hopefully find a new job. A lot of this might not be proper seen until the next week(as I will still need to work it through) but it's certainly in the plans.
Commissions Queue, pricing and rules
Maybe prone to be revamped and modified slightly in the coming weeks. This said, for now this is still the chart which applies.

Exhausted
Posted 11 years agoJust got a bit of a crushing new today. I'd rather not exactly get into it right now. Maybe I will tomorrow when I'll have had more time to process it. Possibly gonna post more about it tomorrow. I think I'll need an evening off tonight.
Sorry for the quiets @.@
Posted 11 years ago... but I guess the long story told short is that, simply, work has been kicking my butt. Also for the weirdest reasons I've had the utmost of dificulties with sleep lately.
I've been updating the galleries when I could, but that and the pace I've been completing commissions at leaves me feeling I could do better.
I also realizes it's been a while since I last posted one of my weekly updates round-up. That will need to be fixed. Hopefully sooner than later.
In anyways, all of this said I'm just impatient for labor's day weekend next week. Lately, the strain and stress at work has been such I just feel utterly drained when I come back home. Without talking about a bit of a chest pain I've had lately which made me feel a bit worried(though I'm starting to think it's actually a muscle or nerve because it's something I feel the most mainly when I move the shoulder close to where I feel said pain).

Draw a Werewolf Day, Sunday the 10th
Posted 11 years agoSo today is Draw a Werewolf Day and a supermoon to boot.
As a result, I will soon be opening new specifically themed preposed commissions for the new week starting as soon as I post the commissions advert. If anything, these will be most likely discounted due to having a more specialized theme than usual. More on that soon : )
This said, expect some werewolf art today : )

08/04/14-Weekly Update 14-We're back!
Posted 11 years ago The news: Back to work!
Construction industry holiday is now over. Which means I've returned to work today. It went okay.
Lots got done these last two weeks at home though. None the least being a very notable chunk of renovations that needed to be done as well as some long due reorganizations of how things were placed around the house. It was certainly a much welcome refresher versus how things were.
On the art front things have been a mix of both productive and slow. Perhaps due to the many changes in my usual schedules to to getting a new fulltime job again then suddenly getting a whole two weeks off, it's been a bit hard to fully get into commissions. Then again, with renovations and not having had anything like a proper holiday since a while, I didn't really had the mindset or focus to fully concentrate on commissions. Nonetheless, I managed to produces a decent sequence which should hopefully be posted soon now that payment was received : )
On the personal art front, however, things have been more productive as I've delved into traditional art again a bit to some very satisfying results. Do expect new posts in that regard as well(in fact, I've already begun to post a few pieces!).
All in all, I must actually admit I've been feeling like practicing and experimenting with my art a bit more in pressure-less situations. In that regard, while commissions are still closed until I finish my last, expect me to open them again albeit in perhaps a bit more limited queue next time to leave myself more time for art experimentation and practices. I kind of feel like I'm at a point where I need to shuffle my game a bit.
In anyways, I hope you will find to your liking what I will be producing :)
I've also got a couple of personal projects cooking of more specific nature, but I will probably waiting until they are a bit more concrete before saying anything more on that.

Sunday news update late.
Posted 11 years agoToday's sunday news update is late(and I realizes there were none last week) so expect the next one to ideally hit this monday again. Busy weekend I didn't had much time to deal with stuff.
FA downtime notice:
Posted 11 years agoMore of a head's up, but there are other places you can find me.
First are my other galleries on Weasyl and Deviantart:
https://www.weasyl.com/
http://ludomercier.deviantart.com/
Now, for those who are also interested, I also have a twitter. While I don't exactly have a lot of art there, I frequently takes part in both #drawawerewolfdays (on days of the full moon) and #werewolfwednesday there, so you can expect a lot of my werewolf art to be posted there before anywhere else.

07/13/14-Sunday News 13- Actually the Monday News.
Posted 11 years ago The news: Mondays and... vacationing?
So a very late weekly update. I'll admit with all the stress coming down before the vacations I just kind of... well, almost collapsed when they finally arrived. Then again yuntil last thursday I didn't know whether I would be working today or going on a two weeks holidays like most of the construction industry. Things've been crazy at work.
I'm still struggling with the commission. I'm starting to think I know why now, but I'm not exactly pleased with the realizations that are resulting. I'll complete it, and I'll be happy when I'll have. If anything the only reasons it's taking me so long lies in myself. More on that only when I'll be done with the current queue and see what I'll be doing next.
This said, in other news, me being in vacations while my roomates are away on a trip also means one thing. A: I have all the house to myself. B: I have all the house to myself.... which means I also have all the house to take care of(and it's a big house). As it stands, quite a couple of tasks were left for me to do alone when roomates left.
Plus, there are some housework renovations I am planning to work on, so it'll probably be plenty busy a week.
I'm still hoping to stream at some point, but I'm starting that might be later this week. In anyways, I'll see what things are looking like tomorrow.

Once a commission and price(based on my pricelist) is approved, I will first start on the line sketch and then send this for initial approval. If lines are approved, then work will continue up to either shaded/toned or colors level depending on what was commissioned(or considered complete .
I allow for two revisions at each stages, to keep my work pace brisk. Normally I don't really expect to ever need more than one if any based on past livestream experiences.
Work-in-progress images and completed commissions will be communicated as dropbox links to the commissioners via private notes.
Commissions will be handled on a first-come/first served basis and I will add commissioners to a five-slots queue from which they will be removed as their commissions are handled.

Phew, things have been busy. But... vacations!
Posted 11 years agoSo the last week has been busy o.o
I've really really not done as much art than I should have. To be fair though, only three weeks ago I go a day job again(actually, my old job from last year) which has been a lot of adjustment in my schedules especially as I got in during a period where there is a lot of rapid fire of multiple projects to work on all at once. Though that's a good thing though as I wouldn't be having that job right now if things had been quieter. So, yay.
It still left me more exhausted than I'd have liked for commissions however, though I'm slowly getting on that. It's been quite the adjustment to go back to technical(my job is that of a drafter) fulltime work like that when I return home to do art. As a result a lot of the artwork I'd done(which isn't many) has actually been personal art to try to keep an art groove on despite everything.
This said the composition for the current TF sequence is pretty much complete so all I need to do anymore is line and shade it.
This said this week alone has been particularly busy. Last weekend saw a celebration for my grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary and the preparations leading up to it. Similarly there were a lot of preparations for a large dinner in the middle of the week where my brother invited a lot of our family(including our grandparents) for the evening as a sort of gathering meal before him and fiancee would leave for a week and a half trip this weekend(which trip saw a lot of preparations as well).
This said, now I'm in vacations for two weeks until August the 4th(part of the rush at job was that the workload is such the workshop will have to remain open during the construction summer holidays, so us folks in the offices had to make sure the welders and pipefitters would have enough projects ready to get going to work during the duration of the constructions with as little presence as possible from the office folks like me) so that will give me a lot of time to get back on track art-wise again.
Expect some amount of streaming to happen again in the next two weeks :)

Midweek update post-poned tomorrow
Posted 11 years agoJust a small warning before I head to work that the usual Wednesday midweek updated will instead be posted on Thursday tomorrow instead.
Tonight I'll be receiving guests for dinner so that will sadly leaves me unable to post the usual update.

07/13/14-Sunday News 12- Busy busy busy
Posted 11 years agoThe news: Work, wedding anniversaries and Supermoons
Busy busy busy week. Work has been a bit hectic as projects priorities would just get shuffled around with some more confusing than others which required me to asks a couple of questions at times just to clarify how things should be handled. Work itself still nonetheless went well but it's left me more drained than expected on my returns home after work. It's also been rather busy on other subjects because this weekend(today in fact) was the celebratory mass for my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. That's a lot of years.
So it's been a bit frantic during the weekend especially when yesterday night we had a couple of couch-surfers on a bicycle road trip with their 7 years old daughter stay the night. They were a fun couple even if, being almost complete utter strangers to me, I sometimes didn't know on which foot to stand until dinner finally happened and we really got to chat more. Because they really didn't want to take too much room they pitched a tend outside and left this morning as we prepared for today's mass to celebrate my grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary.
On another subject, being a full moon yesterday it was also Draw a Werewolf Day(as recent art is witness to. You can find more about Draw a Werewolf Day here: http://werewolf-news.com/draw-a-werewolf-day/ ).
Which was kinda sad because this month was a supermoon and I would have really wished to draw something special for this.
However, I hear that next month(August the 10th)'s Draw a Werewolf Day will -also- be a supermoon.
So, this month I'm planning to be ready for the next and actually am beginning on a big of a personal project related to werewolves that will also tie into commissions that I will be working on for next month's supermoon. I won't say too much because I'm still working on my current batch, but once I'll be ready expect an announcement ^^

Stream cancelled, possible plans for the future.
Posted 11 years agoBased on people's suggestion, and after an admitedly rather crazy week with much projects shuffling, streaming is cancelled for tonight.
This said, I won't be inactive tonight as my offline commissions queue is fuller than what I make in most stream nights and unlike the rest of the week I don't have to worry about waking up super early tomorrow.
This said, it's leading me to see how I'll tackle things in the future. Originally I wanted to keep offline commissions and livestreamed commissions separate. To work only on stream commissions during the livestreams, and then offline commissions offstreams. In practices I'm realizing it might be more strain than I intended when I get both at the same time like technically right now.
So in the future, what I'm planning to do is like I did last week usual, I will be posting a queue for fixed prices commissions that I will be partly able to work on offline during the week, which will be continuously updated as commissions are completed and spot freed as I have already done this week here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13912381/.
However, should I have commissions left in that queue when I will get to streaming during the week(I intend to keep friday or saturday), I will not be putting these aside and instead will be working on them in priority. Then once those are complete, I will be closing the queue to take on other commissions at the usual hourly rate during livestreams. Then, once sunday is there I will be bringing back up the fixed prices queue for the week since I won't be having time to stream until at least friday or saturday again.
So by reserving a spot early, you will be guaranteeing your commissions will be completed before all others and at a fixed price so you will be knowing exactly how much it will cost you.
Meanwhile, when you will be commissioning commissions at the livestream hourly rate, you will benefit from a pricing systems that will allows you more freedom in terms of style of commissions that you want allowing you more customized request.... priced at exactly the amount of time it takes to be completed beneath your very own eyes.
So, for now, that's the plan for the future weeks.
As for now I'm not decided yet if I'll be streaming tomorrow. There's a birthday for my grandmother this weekend and with how things are in the family lately, which may make things quite busy. There's heavy chances that with many of the preparations I might just better take saturday to relax before the birthday mass, then dinner and all the proceeding that will follow.
Edit: Also I just recalled tomorrow is Draw a Werewolf Day. You folks might want to put that on your calendar or something. It's #drawawerewolfday on twitter: https://twitter.com/hashtag/drawawe.....lfday?src=hash

Job continues rather nicely. I've had a rough time with sleep early in the week but this is sort of getting back together again. Similarly, my commission queue has filled up rather quickly and got filled up again as soon as my first commission was done, so that's something I'm happy about.
I'm taking a bit slower than I could, but I'm still getting settled back in the job's schedule which has been a bit harder this week(though I still progress decently on most of the projects I have. Though I kind of wishes there were a bit less "project priority shuffling" so I could focus on one set of project to complete all of before another set is thrown at me but that's just me liking to tackle one thing at a time ^^;
Still, I'll be looking forward to see how things develop from then on both in regard to my job and commissions .

07/06/14-Sunday News 11-Commissions OPEN
Posted 11 years agoThe news: Settling in(Again)
So the first week at the new(old) job has been good. It was kind of funny to see how much just fell like the last 11 months I spent away from the job had never been. I mean, there -were- some things I had forgotten or not recalled right, but all of them were very much minor things every times and very few. So I was surprised by how easily I've settled back into the office side of things. If anything, it's actually when I'm back home that I have some difficulties getting used to working with a full time schedule again ^^;
As a result I haven't streamed last week and I might have a much more diminished streaming schedule this week with (tentatively, even) only a friday and saturday stream this week.
This said, go kind of force myself to keep productive, I'm full re-opening a commission queue of works which(at a fixed pre-determined price) can be completed during the week in my free time as an incentive for me not to slack off. Livestream commissions will still use an hourly rate however.
In anyways. the new job couldn't come at a better time as though not critical nor urgent, I would now be in need of replacing my laptop. I'm looking toward potentially getting a Surface Pro 3 as a potential replacement for it due to it's capabilities fitting very nicely with what I used my laptop for in the first place. With commissions, I'm potentially hoping to meet this goal slightly faster(though a couple of other expenses will need to be dealt with first).
So, as it stands, here is the current offline commissions pricelist and rules:
Commissions Queue, pricing and rules
Current Queue:
1:
Onom
2: OPEN
3: OPEN
4: OPEN
5: OPEN
First, you can see a copy of all these rules as well as a visual pricelist and up to date Commissions queue on this link: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13912381/
Up to date Queue will also be included in every wedneday and sunday updates journals.
Process and communications:
First and foremost, offline commissions will be handled through notes for the time being. If you are interested in a commissions, just leave me a note on the gallery of your choice(http://www.furaffinity.net/user/fringedog/ https://www.weasyl.com/~ludocrow http://ludomercier.deviantart.com/) and I will reply to you as possible.
Note that multiple-pictures commissions will see every pictures count as a single slot so a single commissions asking for a 3-stage sequences would be taking three slots by himself.
Payments and Pricelists:
Payments will always be handled via a paypal adress given during communication and is to be paid for upon the completion of work only. All commissions are to be paid in Canadian dollars, and payment IS to be paid for as "good and services".
The pricelist is as follow:
Line Sketches: 15$
Shaded/toned sketches: 25$
Colors: 50$
Separate pricelists will be coming for Digital Paintings and traditional works in the future.

No stream tonight, here's a commission queue instead:
Posted 11 years agoMy first week back at my old job has been pretty good. I'm surprised by how much I recalled and how most of the rest is coming back very quickly. So far I can argue that work is actually going pretty well in itself. Ironically, it's when I return home that I have almost more trouble adjusting to this new schedule as I need to almost re-learn how to manage my free time within my schedule ^^;
This said, while work went well, it's been rough readjusting to the sleep schedule still. So I'll cancel tonight's stream for now. I still wishes to take on commissions but as I feel like right now I'm in the mood for working at a more relaxed pace.
For those interested, please leave a comment here or at the pricelist image: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13899701/

On another note(weather)
Posted 11 years agoAt 6h45 in the morning, it is already 23 degrees celcius and 97% humidity outside. It is also A: Very sunny(so it'll get warmer) and thus B: not raining(thus humidity is not going down).
Maybe things changes, but unless the weather do I might not be streaming this friday(dual screen setup on an already sort of heat-producing computer combined to streaming which makes that computer take more efforts than idle running=hot).
I'll see how things go, just wishing it wasn't so sweltering hot right now o.o;
If I don't, I'll still try to see if I can't produce some traditional art or offline art using my laptop.
