Posted 9 years agoI have spent the past year finding something artwise that inspired me. Apparently the only thing I can get passionate about is drawing furry lady pinups. Well I guess I found my muse...

Posting
Posted 12 years agoHiya. It's me again. Posting stuff here because I don't feel like jumping through the hoops to get my stuff that isn't ponies views on DA. Not that this gets me anywhere careerwise, but it's at least fun to have an outlet, right?
A really really bad mistake.
Posted 14 years agoHi. I posted some line work I was doing for someone into my scraps with little to no information and the filler word "me" under the assumption that no one would even look at this picture since it is a scrap on a page that I really don't think anyone looks at that often. It was just a way for me to send my partner my current progress on work i am helping him with. While I slept last night, i had apparently been accused of flagrant art theft without realizing it. I'd like to go on record and say that I never had any intention of stealing work of any kind, and, at the very least the original artist
Snytchell will attest to my word being the truth. He asked me to do this for him.
I'm sorry about the s**tstorm I caused. I will post with caution from here on out.

It's hard to do but...
Posted 14 years agoGoodbye.
I decided to formally put this up here so that no one who expected anything here would be able to get their closure. FurAffinity has been good to me this past year, I have made a lot of friends and met a lot of cool people here. I need to ensure that I retain those bonds one way or another, but that is irrelevant.
My work has been slowly drifting in a direction that doesn't feel appropriate here on FA anymore. I've had the past few months to tie up the loose ends, sort some things out, and start to understand where I'm going as an artist.
As it stands, I am not here.
I originally came here between jobs as a student, hoping that I could make a few extra dollars on the odd commission. I found a lot here that I liked, and a lot that I disliked, but like it or not, it is what it is.
Will I come back? Who knows? I don't feel so much as if it is a great shame that I have left. As people we grow up and we change. People we stick with and those we drift from shape our lives for better or for worse. These sorts of things just happen, yaknow?
As you go through your day. Please ask yourself: "Who are the people that I need in my life?"
As stated, goodbye, FA
~JC
PS. I will be responding to notes now and again. This is because I don't want to absolutely lose contact with the people I've met here, and this is one of the easiest ways to get in touch with me.

A friend in some need:
Posted 14 years agoHello hello, I'm doing this a day or two late, but I did promise i would do this. A friend of mine
silvercloud has been trying to make a little money off of her icon work, and I told her that I would let anyone who read my journals know that she was selling icons at a small sum of as low as$1 apiece.
So, if you want to get in touch with her, that name again is

Livestream
Posted 14 years agoHi!
Posted 14 years agoI think I'm going to try and Livestream more, guys. I get more done when I do. I'll prolly be on Thursday night unless something dire takes place. If not Thursday, prolly Friday morning/Afternoon.
The web and I have not been getting along too well, and I am considering starting a re-working of "Straypaws" I wish to continue the comic as planned, but I also want to start making the comic look much better knowing what I now know.
Only time will tell, right?

Dear E621:
Posted 14 years agoYou deleted all of my comics. Surely it wasn't because of a lack in quality. I only put the utmost of effort in my recent work. I shall assume my work was so controversial that it had to be taken off the internet forever.
Either that or I don't know what "utmost" means.

Yesterday-
Posted 15 years agoUhm, yeah I really don't know what came over me! I didn't mean to come off as really bitchy or anything, but something really soured me to FA. I guess I've had a lot on my mind lately and something occurred that was just the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak.
So, uh, yeah, thanks to anyone who took the time to read it, but I'd really rather not make a habit of writing my gripes over the community.
If I get the time, I'll be sure to try getting around the site more often. I view myself as somewhat of a hermit from time to time.
But time marches on~

Who even reads this stuff? (You won't)
Posted 15 years agoLately I've not been posting up as much work as I'd like to. It's not that I am not doing anything, but that I argue at what the point is of doing anything for FA. You don't get much out of it, and this and DeviantArt might as well be the Salon de Paris. I'd upload more experimental work and personal projects, but even on DeviantArt, a site NOT made for niche audiences, generally no one spares a glance at it. It's not fair to say that, of course, there are hundreds of pictures posted right alongside mine, so I can't exactly expect everyone to look at it. Soon it becomes a game not of free expression, but that success can only be found by expressing what people want to see. That may work for Jacques-Louis David, but sorry, I can't do no Oath of the Horatii.
...and then there's commissions, probably one of the worst things to happen to art over the old World Wide Web. Don't get me wrong, contracting an artist for design needs is great, but the sheer volume of artists and the amount of artists willing to work for a pittance has distorted and devalued art to an insane degree. Just letting you know, people, that you can get a job that pays MINIMUM WAGE that would earn you more money per hour than how long you may spend on a 10$ commission (if you enjoy art that much over working though, God bless you). Of course, since it's basically a price war that somebody has to win, the value of art no matter the quality is going to drop and drop and drop. With such a continuing trend, how can an artist POSSIBLY make good money off of their work? Especially since I know some artists that are grandly talented that simply cannot get their foot in the door!
However, it is pretty clear to me now that being popular on this site isn't so much about being talented or working hard, it's a whole mess of networking. Anyone who thinks they can make the one piece that will get them the recognition they desire is being naive. There's nothing wrong with that though, it's a lot like that in real life, too.
I'd like to do more request work, because that at least gets some enjoyment out of individuals, which is fulfilling in its own respect. Which is essentially what I've come to- I'm not actively taking commissions over FA, because I'd rather have fun doing the off-job for a friend than break my back trying to sell myself. It demeans me as an artist and as a person.
Oh what was my point? I think I just needed to write that all down. Sorry
