Thought I'd give some life updates on myself. I've recently graduated from Uni. My degree show is coming up on the 1st of July. It's a virtual degree show so I might try and shill it here, if anyones interested in the artwork I've done for the past year. It mostly involves Scottish Folklore, of which I will be giving talks on via Teams or Zoom.

So if anyone wants to sit and listen to some Scottish Folklore tales about giants Goddess' then feel free to come along.

Other than that I now have free time for commissions and looking for work in general. Wahay!

Due to not wanting to burden anyone in particular with my stress, i'll throw it out to anyone, here have a slice of Rant cake. Can you guess the secret ingredient? I'll give you a hint - it's salt.

So what is this stress you may wonder! Well it's a mixture of things, all relating to the same area - education! Fuck yeah! Currently doing the most important brief of the year, as it gives you your Grade for the year. And we've just past week 3 and next week is the first attempt at the hand in date. If i'm honest it's been pretty great, the classes are dead quiet cos nobody shows up and there's no lecturers so there's peace to work.

But what's not fun is when during mentoring sessions (you get one per week) your lecturers either change their mind of flat out tell you that you haven't picked a theme and you haven't got a clear final layout - when you've literally just sat and explained it (turns out the other wasn't paying attention). I won't go into all the details but i'm doing an Infographic as a beginners guide to the more out there Paranormal Conspiracy theories. They say i'm doing too much - i'm literally doing a nutshell basics of 6 items. I could name another 8 at least that i could do if i wanted to do EVERYTHING. The style i chose for illustration is geometric, they tell me it won't work for stuff like "The Black Knight Satellite" and i'd need an actual photograph of it. Which I don't quite understand because if i'm doing an illustration of Tiamat or Bigfoot.. why do I need a photograph of a Satellite?

To add to that is the fact i'd spent about 4+ hours each day, and had over 10 pages worth of development, working on it for the past 2 weeks - geometric shit takes forever! Yet someone who didn't do much work and had 4 pages gets better feedback. AND another guy who i've constantly tried to help for the past.. ages - he tells me only I keep him motivated to work - does a grand total of one page in the past week, tells me he's stressed the night before mentoring so i stop what i'm doing to help him - stay up late to help motivate him, give him ideas etc of how he can intertwine his personal illustration tastes with the current brief, show him how to push development from taking inspiration from a character to creating his own design - while giving him examples by doing it myself. SO he tells me he's going to print in the morning, which one could only assume that he took the advice and hadn't done the same thing he'd always done. Take one idea put that on the computer - colour it - JOB DONE!

NO that is NOT development. That is one idea! Not a finished product.

So he prints off and goes for mentoring gets sad cos they didn't like it and goes home saying how he was so motivated but they didn't like it so what's the point. And i'd understand that, I could sympathize with that - I currently feel like that. However, I put in the effort. I spent days working - he's done nothing and expects one night of work to get him past it.

There's one thing i cannot stand, and that's people that don't pull their weight. If you've tried and you're not good enough then I will support you all the way and I wish you all the best and hope you succeed at all of the things! But people who do nothing, and expect it to happen - and worse the people who do nothing AND IT DOES HAPPEN - By the Light! I can't stand those people.

And to top it all off I thought I was probably getting into Uni 'cos everyone else had been declined and i hadn't heard back but I asked during mentoring and they said it's probably bad admission staff and I should email them, which I have. I really don't want the response though. To have waited all that time extra to find I'm probably not getting in. And then there's my future plans gone to fuck :|
