Back to MFF! (And a brief life update)
Posted 3 years agoQuite excited to be going back to MFF again. Been 3 years since my last con, and it's been a pretty big hole in my life. Going to be staying at the Hyatt! I get to pull my fursuit back out! I get to meet so many friends I've made online, in chats and VR... It's going to be a new way for me to experience cons, and I can't wait to have a blast with you all.
I arrive Wednesday evening and leave Monday morning.
Also thinking about doing a little birthday celebration again? Maybe go out to dinner, or order some food and get silly at a room party like last time? It was a blast, but I also was pretty sad about all the people who couldn't make it. Just the risk of throwing a party at a convention I think, you're competing with a crazy busy schedule of everyone trying to get as much time with their friends and the con itself.
I'm always sad it's just once a year, and I have so many people to try to catch up with, so many things to do, never enough time. Maybe I start doing two big cons a year?
Suppose I could also mention that my life has taken a real turn for the better. Finished college, graduated with honors, got a great job, a real career, with the financial security, time and space to work on myself and my life. Still single, but it's something I'm working on, trying to take more chances on people, despite a pretty deep-running fear of rejection.
Lost some extended family to covid and age... No more grandparents to see how I've come along. Had a scary medical situation strike my dad out of the blue, too. Has me thinking a lot more about mortality, and the limited time we all have.
Just gotta make the most of what we're given. Looking forward to spending some of that time making great memories with any of you going to MFF too. <3
Side note: I might get around to uploading some of the work I've been doing. 3D models of Maloo and Sasha, and another of Malibu and a kangaroo friend of mine on the way! Theorycrafting how to make Erika work too. Let me know if you wanna see.)

Posted 7 years ago...so, yeah! Was a good time, thanks in part to people who helped pitch in to make it work for me, financially, and with a room. <3
I didn't get to hang out with everyone I wanted, seemed like I ran out of time. It's always over too soon. </3
However, a big surprise, I got to see some friends from the east coast that I normally only ever get to meet up with at Anthrocon! It kinda made the con for me. <3 (I don't know their FAs, or I'd link here.)
I roomed with

...yeah, if I don't manage it, this will be the first time I haven't gone to a con for a whole year since I started going in 2009. x-x

Yes, you may have seen me at MFF. (Hi everyone! Loved meeting/seeing you <3) I did that on a bit of a shoestring budget cause I had to see people. What simply decided it for me is whether it'd be another whole year before seeing some of the lovely people I call friends, and I had to go. Had a great time, a 3 1/2 hour wait in the registration line notwithstanding. I'd call out people I saw and met, but I'm inevitably going to miss people, and I don't want anyone to think I thought less of the time I spent with them. :3

And here we find ourselves with another UI change that not everyone might enjoy.
Here's a new userscript to fix that. (Also made a userstyle, see the first Edit below)
STEP 1: Install a userscript addon for your browser if you don't have one already.

So, I got a job. I can be sure I'll be able to make rent for next month!
Here's the tricky part, though. I've lost time at work. Lost income. As best I can figure, it's going to be a tight scrape to make it to MFF, and then I won't have much fun getting the artwork I love sharing with everyone.
Now, granted, just making it there would make me very happy, but I may need to do some extra work to get there.
So, I'm going to open my commission list wide open. If you're interested, just send me a note. I won't ask for payment until I've started on your piece, I'm not asking for a backlog! But any money to make things more certain is really appreciated.
