Wondering Why Artist Have Been Disabling Their Notes System?
Posted 11 years agoYeah, me too. However, after reading one journal I found out that pretty much most of the concern stems from dialogue trees from the most recent
fender journal.
I don't really have any sensitive info in my notes, so I don't think I'll need to disable mine just yet. I'm sure some of you are more informed than others about this situation though.

My pad hasn't broken clean off, but the wear is definitely noticeable. Its beginning to stick from side to side, and making playing anything a bit of an annoyance now. Replacement parts are cheap and readily available on-line, installing it isn't impossible, but it's SLIGHTLY nerve wrecking since you have to disconnect move a few ribbon cables.

Upcomming Commissions/ Also, Update
Posted 11 years agoWhew, been a while since I did one of these. Any who, no I'm not retired nor am I leaving. (I mean, that would be just silly) I'm clawing my way back to smut-dom! I need to finish up Evo -Anxiety for starters, and deffinitely get back to adding more to Easter Bonny's lore. This hiatus was ridiculously long and I cannot let that happen again!
In other interesting news, if everything goes according to plans I'll be moving from my city, of which I've lived for over 30 years, to Colorado. Me and my bud are planning to kick our heels and head west for hopefully greener pastures (No pun intended). We're gonna try for a spring migration if all goes well. If anyone live in the region, some advice and info would be sweet!
And finally, gonna open for commissions sometime in the next couple of days. Nothing fancy, a 10 slot of Single character, Lines w/Simple shading for $23usd. You can hit the commissions and guidelines link at the foot of the journal to know whats what. That is, if anyone is still interested in getting stuff from this crusty old man. -3-

R.I.P. Jim "Skunkworks" Hardiman

James "Jim" Hardiman passed away August 29 in his home in Ozark, Missouri.
I remember when I first started seeing his artwork in the old Genus comics almost a decade ago. I loved his stories and really enjoyed his semi-realistic anthro style. I've noticed that the most talented members of the furry community are often the most ill. Even back then, Jim's health always seemed like he had up and downs. This is a really sad day. A real kick to the stomach to see first thing in my journals entries.
Life Update, Events & Birthday Tomorrow..Oy
Posted 11 years agoBeen quite a bit o time since I posted a journal. But as I always say, I'm always on FA, just haven't been able to post anything.
Anyway, I've been in talks with a good buddy of mine for a long time now. Trying to get our own place by September, here's hoping. The biggest thing I've got to say is that for the last few months I've been preparing to make a pretty big change income wise. I'm trying to transition into commissions being my MAIN source of income. My buddy's got my back, he knows about the kind of art I do and is constantly on my case to get started on my "Dicktoon" empire. XD
He exaggerates, but it's nice to know I've got support. My family's also aware (some vaguely) of the art I do. Never shown them any of the NSFW stuff, but they're generally cool about it. Before I can get to that point, there's some things I HAVE to take care of, so hopefully I can get back to taking commissions and posting arts very soon!
Don't fret about Evolution Anxiety, there's only a few pages left so It will definitely be finished. I've also been tooling around with story elements for Bonny and friends. More on that at a later time. ;3
*Sigh* Mind as well talk about an elephant in this room...Patreon. It's a nice tool, and a good way to support an artist you like. BUT, in my opinion, A LOT of people are using it wrong. Patreon should be used for extended PROJECTS. A web comic, animation series, music album, or what have you. Not to, no offense, nickel and dime people for stand-alone work pieces. Now I'm only speaking about those who who've used Patreon in this manner because it certainly isn't everyone. And if the supporters themselves are absolutely fine with that set-up, then who am I to say otherwise. :3
Last but not least,..................TOMORROW.....FUCKING 31........Christ....I am fucking old. You twenty somethings and teenies out there, lounging on my lawn? Do me a favor...

Goodbye Sonic Cast: Ken Penders Lawsuit update
Posted 11 years agoIt's been a while since I've checked on the Archie Sonic-verse, but suffice to say It's gonna look a helluva lot different once I catch-up. While his case against Sega and EA was dismissed, he reached a settlement with Archie Comics. So what does that mean? Welp, apparently you can kiss these characters goodbye.
Julie-Su
All the named Brotherhood prior to the Encyclopedia's publication, and concepts thereof
All the Dark Legion and concepts thereof
Enerjak and Dimitri
Remington, the Echidna Security Team, Lara-Le, Wynmacher and other minor echidnas like Bimmy.
Echidnaopolis and Albion.
Elias, Alicia.
Geoffrey, Drago, Hershey, most of the Wolf Pack (not the concept of the Wolf Pack itself though as that's from SatAM, including Lupe and whatnot)
Gen. Von Stryker.
Harry the Cabbie.
Ivan Robotnik.
Lara-Su, Kneecaps, Cobor, Salma, Rutan.
Rob'O and Mari-An.
Friar Buck and Lil' John.
Valdez, Liza, and other Rainbow Valley chameleons.
Archimedes, Deo Volente, and the other Fire Ants.
Aurora.
The Substitute Freedom Fighters- Porky Pig, Platypus the Platypus, Green Abomination, and Bob Dylan. Hamlin, Penelope, Arlo, and Dylan
General D'Coolette.
Saffron the Bee, Mello the Bee.
Feist, Kodos.
Dr. Quack.
Jules and Bernie Hedgehog
Downtown Ebony Hare and friends- the foxy lady, the bodyguard, etc
Queen Hathor and the Mysterious Cat Clan
Nicolette Weasel
Whether or not he gets ownership of THESE particular characters is fogy though:
Evil Sonic, Evil Antoine, Evil Rotor, Evil Sally, Evil Tails; Anti-Mobius; Anti-Robotnik. By extension, Scourge, Alicia, etc.
Robo-Robotnik.
He's already starting a new story called Lara-Su: New World Order Project Which I'm guessing will include most of these characters somehow.
I get the incidental mobians he's created over the years, but the Sonic designed echidnas? Copyright is quite a mysterious beast. Then again, I assumed Archie and Sega had specific contracts and rules governing who owns what when original stories are created.
The weird part in all this, I liked Ken Penders story directions, and I liked most (the echidna characters anyway) of the characters he created. So this is really kind of sad to me.
Another thing I don't understand, is how he plans to link his future stories to Sonic's universe. How the hell is that gonna work? I mean, I believe these are his "new" character designs;

For other artist who use paypal and for my commissioners

This pretty much sums up why you do not say anything about what your commission consists of. At some point I was thinking of setting up a tip or donate button. But I'll probably put that on a Clean art tumblr or something.

Commissions Open: 2 Slots still Available
Posted 11 years agoQuick Guide to my COMMISSION process
Posted 11 years agoThanks to those who commissioned!
For when the next round starts, here's some pointers/Pro Tips.
Once commissions are opened:
1) If interested, send me a note with COM as the title. That's all you need to do. No need to explain what you want just yet. ( I imagine some of you missed out because you started searching for ideas instead of acquiring your slot!)
2) If your in time, I'll note you the email to contact me with your descriptions, ref links and ideas. This way you'll have time to mull over what you want. (If it takes me a long time to reply to your note, odds are you've got a slot!)
3) Once I've gotten your email and gone base to base with you, I'll give you the address to use for Paypal payments.
4)As soon as I receive your payment, your end is done and I get feverishly to work! XD
Hope that helps. I'll be opening commissions again soon, so stay tuned!

Wacom Tablet Help Needed!! [Crises Averted]
Posted 11 years agoOkay, I could really use some assistance. Mu old Intuos2 USB Wacom Tablet isn't functioning on the new Windows 7 64bit PC. The LED light comes on, and the light changes color when I touch it with the pen, but that's about it.
I could have sworn I updated the drivers, but I'll give it another try. It isn't even recognizing it as a tablet, it comes up as a mouse in the device manager.
_____________________________________________________________________________
(UPDATE)
Phew..That gave me a fright for a minute there. After digging around I found a suitable driver. I've got my pressure sensitivity back and it's not stuck in mouse mode anymore. I'm preparing a sample peace to show an example of what the sketch commissions will look like. I'll also have hammed out my "What I'll draw list". Once I start taking commissions, which should be any day now, I'll definitely start putting the funds towards a new tablet providing no other monetary crises happens.

COMMISSIONS....
Posted 11 years agoWhen I finish setting things up Ill be taking them. I won't be getting in over my head like I've seen so many others do, so I'll be starting off simple and small until I feel comfortable and confident enough to take heavier and more complex workloads.
So it'll be something like single or Two character sketch commissions. I'll hammer out the details and samples when I've got everything set up.
The biggest difference between doing this and my own stuff is that there will be money involved. So expect those commissions to take priority over anything I want to do myself. I want to get those out to their owners as swiftly as possible, just in case some may be worried about my now classic periods of inactive art on here,
The question I have? Is anyone interested? :3

What's Up With Monkey X? : Update
Posted 11 years agoSo...It's been a good four months. Your probably wondering "Dude, wtf?" Welp, long story short real world issues. Time consuming stuff, but nothing tragic or anything, bills, employment, parking tickets, Doctor's check-up that kinda stuff. But now I'm at a crossroads here, that's right, "There's a doins' transpirin'!".
I finally got a chance to sit down and take a crack at some arts again, and came to the stark realization that my PC sucked massive, briny whale balls. I mean, that's to be expected, it's around six or seven years old at this point. Using ANY art software became an unimaginable pain. My registry was an abominable mess, so bad that many programs just started crapping out on me. Again, after six or so years, that's gonna happen. It just couldn't keep up with my demands for it. Not to mention, my old Wacom intuos2 tablet had seen better days. But I gotta hand it to Wacom. I've been using this thing since 2003 and it still works like the first day I unboxed the thing. Still, I really needed to consider an upgrade. And thems tablet prices are fucking steep. I had to make a difficult but necessary choice....
So I upgraded to THIS.
I decided to build one myself from scratch, which at first seemed quite a daunting task. But, with my friend's help we got all the hardware installed while I took care of all the software. Currently, there's no Video card installed on it just yet, but that will come in due time. Besides, the current processor inside this thing doesn't really require a video card for what I plan to use it for, but it would be a nice addition to aid with some other software I'm fiddling around with.
For you tech heads out there, here's the specs. :3
Case: Diablotek EVO Mid Tower ATX
CPU: A10 7850K 4.0 GHz Black Edition Boxed processor
Motherboard: GA-F2A88XM-D3H FM2+/FM2 mATX AMD Motherboard
Hard drive: Two 1 1TB 7,200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drives
Ram: Ballistix Tactical 16GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL8 Desktop Memory Kit (Two 8GB Memory Modules)
and an ASUS 48X multiX dvdrw optical drive. I also opted for windows 7 instead of 8.
I gotta say, it was a lot of fun and an enriching experience putting this thing together. I can't suggest it enough for those of you looking for new machines. it's also a helluva a lot cheaper too.
However, the downside is that I still have to haphazardly wade through the minefield which is my current Wacom tablet that should have been reasonably replaced 5 years ago. A newer PC seemed like the more prudent choice.
I may call upon your much needed services in the very near future, and with that...
EXCELSIOR!

Gotta say, It's actually quite refreshing. This is kinda like the New 52 for the Sonic series. I dig the character designs they're faithful while still looking slick.. I don't know why they decided to make Sonic's arms blue. But it's a small detail, that kinda makes sense seeing as how Shadow and Silver are the same way.
