Question about other comics
Posted 5 months agoWhat comics would you recommend to people who are enjoying Nandavanam House?
Especially interested in comics created by members of the fandom.
What might I enjoy and/or recommend to others?

An increase in traffic
Posted a year agoI've noticed a sudden increase in traffic on NandavanamHouse.com, the official website for my comic. I mean not like a flood, but in two days some pages have received more than 300 additional views. Lots of people clicking the heart too. (No comments though.)
Back in the day when I was doing the SLOP webcomic, a sudden booster in traffic usually meant I was being posted on Portal of Evil, SomethingAwful, CrushYiffDestroy or some such.
People are favoriting pages though, so maybe its not bad attention but part of me is...wary.
Anyway, final page comes tomorrow. Maybe even just after Midnight my time. :)

Other places to read my comic
Posted a year agoI want to thank everyone who has been views, faving, and/or commenting on my comic. It took a year me a year to create and I'm about to start drawing the next chapter.
Want to share my comic with someone who doesn't use FA?
I now have a website for it.

Associations
Posted a year agoI have been told by some that my artwork is somewhat unique. That it tends to have its own look.
My question is less about style and more about general associations. For those who have been following me, what do you associate my artwork? What themes or stylistic choices do most associate with what I create?

Nandavanam House
Posted a year agoAbout a year ago, I drew the first page of what was meant to be a short comic. Just a proof of concept that was meant to show me if I could still draw a comic. I could but after a few set backs such as losing all my thumbnails and some deep thinking about the story, it turned into 24 pages. Over ten years ago, when I was working on the SLOP webcomic, it wasn't colored and sometimes I struggled to have an update each Friday. With Nandavanam House, I took my time and did it right. Everything is drawn, inked and colored.
Here's hoping I can get the next story done in less than a year.
I hope all of you will enjoy this story and will start looking forward to Friday updates.
I look forward to hearing what y'all think and if any questions pop up.
Thanks,
Some Pig

A new year begins
Posted 2 years agoSo here we are in 2023. All of you who continue to follow me, you have my appreciation and thanks. Last year I managed to do around 50 pieces of original and/or completed art and that feels great. Art used to be much harder for me to get done. I'd abandon something or just not even start because I felt inadequate. I'd look at my previous pieces and cringe. Then something changed. I worked through some baggage.
The support of my friends, peers, and fans helped me get to a better place inside myself with my art. Thank you, everyone. Now I can look at my work with glass is half-full rather than half-empty attitude. I can enjoy looking at my own work and see the things I can do better next time without feeling super self-critical.
That's where things are now.
What's next? I hope to draw more sexual intercourse than I did last year. Basically hoping to draw more character interactions. This could be sex, cuddling, or kissing. There's also a Sinh comic that I wish to create. I'm not sure about the work flow. I feel like in order to do the comic, I must first get better at drawing characters interacting with others and their environment. Much of what I create in 2023 will be contributing in some way to the goal of a comic. I'll post more on that later.
Once again, my thanks to all those coming along for the ride.

Music please
Posted 2 years agoIf you're a regular viewer of my work, you probably noticed that I liked to link a song in my art description. Usually it's a song that the image makes me think of or that I just thought fit the mood of the art. I'm always on the look out for good music.
Please share with me a link to music that you yourself enjoy and think that I might like too.
It's nice to find out what music drives others.
Thanks!

Lions, Tigers and...
Posted 3 years agoI'm pondering drawing a sex comic about my lion character, Sinh.

Those of you who enjoy the lion, are there any particular species/gender you might enjoy seeing him paired with? As I start writing the script, I'm giving that some thought.

Who to commission
Posted 3 years agoI have a favor to ask...
Since y'all are following me, you probably like my art and if you enjoy mine, you probably enjoy the art of others that is very much compatible with my own strange tastes.
I'm going to be commissioning some lion art soon. Who'd be good for that and is, preferably open for commissions?

Not finished-- merely abandonned
Posted 3 years ago"A work of art is never finished-- merely abandoned."
-said by many someones in some variation.
There are many WIPs in my gallery that I never finished. Generally they're some linework with faded flat coloring. I meant to finish them but far as they know, I went out to get a pack of cigs and never came back.
So which work of art in my gallery would you most like to see me finish? Why that piece in particular?
Depending on the results and the whim of the Fates, I might finish two or three for coloring practice.

The Long Haul
Posted 3 years agoI received some comments on older art recently. It is really fun to still get complimented on work I did more than decade ago from people who have freshly found me. As I went back and looked at the comments on the totality of pieces I saw a lot of faces that I miss, but also so many who still comment on my work today.
Thank you for being with me on the long haul. I appreciate that you're still here.
For those I don't see around anymore, I hope all of y'all have moved on to the places you want to be and found the community and support there that every one of us needs to experience.
I am humbled.
Thank you.

Hacked on Discord
Posted 3 years agoWell, I feel for a bit of social engineering and got hacked on discord. Which caused everyone on my chat list to get spammed with the same message I fell for.
So if you received a weird message from me accusing you of something and saying to go join some server to see what it is, please disregard.
I feel like a dumbass.
Sorry.

Fave and fave alike
Posted 3 years agoI've found some great artists by looking to see what else some who has Fav'd a pieces of art that I've done. It usually stands to reason that if they like my work, I might also like some of the other things this random person likes. You can see patterns. Oh I see you like (species name here) quite a bit. I can see why you liked my (species name here) too.
Sometimes it is a mystery. Someone fav's my goat gal and the rest of the art in their last 50 favorites is nothing like what I usually draw. Still, I'm glad that my work brought them a mouse-click of joy.
Its more fun when I see stylistic or thematic commonalities with my own work.
That being said, I have a question for all of you.
Assuming you enjoy my work, who else do you enjoy that you think I really ought to check out on FA or elsehwere? Bonus points if you say why.
There will be a pop quiz later this week.

Thinking about opening for commissions.
Posted 3 years agoI'm thinking about opening for a limited number of commissions, but first I thought I'd see if there were any interest.
It would be offering two different types:
Digital ink with light colors:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/44380408/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/44336128/
Digital Ink full color with simple background:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43025840/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43604982/
At least that's what I'm thinking about.
A caveat: This would be me interpreting your character through the lens of my style and sensibilities. That is to say, expect what I do for you to look like what I'd do for me. :) (Is that something I even need to explain?)
I haven't even decided prices yet or how many slots I would open. Right now I'm just testing the waters and this probably wouldn't happen for a week or two.
I almost never take commissions--for a variety of reasons. Putting my toe in the water.

Art thoughts about 2022 and 2021
Posted 3 years agoAs the year is nearing it's end, I find myself thinking about progress I've made on my art the past year and about the direction I want to go. There are skills I plan on working on and topics I plan on doing more of.
One of the most important developments in 2021 is that I went from looking at yesterday's art with a general dislike to a new kind of acceptance and satisfaction. It used to be I hated looking at my older stuff and saw only failure. Now I see some things I like and can see that I'm getting closer and closer to the kind of artist I want to be. Art is a joy, rather than just a kind of chore. It is a nice change.
Some of you have been helpful in that. You know who you are. Thank you.
For my fans and friends, what have you enjoyed about my art in 2021? What do you hope I'll do more of? What would you like to see me do that I haven't done yet?
I'm looking forward to 2022 and the growth it brings.

Favorite artists links
Posted 4 years agoI notice many furs on this site put links in their to their favorite artists in their profile. Every now and then I check out someone's page and see my icon, but its far in few between. It's quite gratifying though when someone has me in with some other artists I myself adore.
I find myself wondering how many folks have me linked. There's no way to know short of stumbling on the user page, is there?
It feels egotistical to even ask.

When you think of my art...
Posted 4 years agoThank you to everyone who has been following me on FA. Some of you have followed me for over ten years now! Can you believe it? Thank you so much.
I have some questions for those willing to take the time to answer. Some you, I've asked these questions in private but I thought it would be useful to do a journal about them.
1. What do you associate my art with? How would you describe it to others?
2. What's your favorite thing I've drawn in the past few years?
3. What would you like to see me draw more of?
4. Is there something I've never drawn you wish I would?
Thanks!

BLFC or there abouts

Hey Eurofurence pups! We'd love you input on what to bring.
Posted 8 years agoSo we are able to go out to Eurofurence this year, and will have a few masks to sell, but we're not sure what to bring. What would people like? Since we're flying from the states, there are limitations to how much we can transport in our luggage. Leather can be heavy and the dog masks are bulky. We sell a lot of masks to Germany and the Netherlands but the costs of shipping and import taxes adds up. This would be a chance to get one of our lovely handcrafted pieces without the prohibitive shipping and import duty costs.
Is there a common dog breed you'd like to see? A wild canine? Something ornate and intricately crafted? Perhaps even hand-painted? We'd love to know about it.
We have more than just masks. We make cuffs, paddles, collars and even leather bound sketchbooks. Have a look at Syndactylarts.com to see what we can do. Please let us know what you'd like to see us stock for EF 2017.
Thanks and see you there!

Back from FC 2017
Posted 8 years agoIt was great to meet so many people and even more fun to see someone's face light up over something we created whether it was an obscure species in the UV reactive tags, or that we had beautiful, leather-bound sketchbooks with paper artists actually want to draw on, or the we had divination runes, or ornate paddles that could leave a paw marks. That kind of thing always delights. The new dealer's room set up was spacious and had good flow. Kudos on that.
The convention went well. Fun was had. It was nice to see friends I hadn't seen in person since last FC. I quite enjoyed the time spent with
and
having coffee and good conversation. Learned a bit about catfish. Sure hope to repeat that next year when theoretically a certain coyote should be there too.
The low-lights of the convention were few. Fortunately the Syndactyl Arts cohorts fishyboner, chaoseven and myself were at the Hilton and didn't have to put up with the multi-hour power outage at the Marriott. There was a midnight fire alarm that went off on Sunday night. Annoying but thankfully a false alarm.

FC 2017, Syndactyl Arts sells again!
Posted 8 years agoI and my cohorts at Syndactyl Arts will be selling at FC2017 in San Jose. We will be able table 23 in the Dealer's Room and acrylic UV reactive species tags, leather paddles, cuffs, rune sets, leather dog masks and more! Come by table 23 and say hello to myself,
fishyboner and
chaoseven as we sell the products of our powers combined.
Looking forward to seeing y'all.
