Posted 6 years agoHello, it is summer, the school semester is over and for those of you wondering about my journey into teaching thus far, I feel I had a much easier year this round than I did last year. I am now at a different school, I no longer teach just art, but I teach Graphic Design (primarily computer arts) so I am much more in my element! Don't get me wrong, teaching is still rough and I am still trying to find ways to balance my energy and time around work, but this year I spent significantly less time staying at school after the work day was over and getting out to do some social things. I'm sure you noticed this as evidenced by my near complete absence in terms of activity here XD
I don't know the last time I updated this journal, but I hope that helps give you an idea of what I've been up to. Now I'm starting my summer vacation, and that means I am opening my commissions because summer money is always nice for a teacher now that I have time to spend it XD So for more commission information, I will direct you here:

My first year as a teacher is over, hoorayyyyy!!! It took me a couple weeks to detox from a challenging year, but now that I've had some time to rest, I am ready for arting again! I will open up 5 slots for now, but I should be pooping things out pretty consistently since I now have time to do so, so if you are interested in a commission or someone you know is, please hit me up!! Also, please share the word, I really look forward to drawing other people's characters!! :)

I will have details on location and everything as soon as I get it, but the con is June 29th and the 30th, a Saturday and Sunday :)

Long time no talk, as you should know, I'm a teacher so school year is hard for me to keep up on things. That being said, I try to check my FA when I can :)
I've been a little busier this year than last because.....I have a friend base now! :DDD Last year had been hard because I was in a whole new state in my first teaching year and just flying by the seat of my pants the entire time. I knew no one in this State n_n; This year is much better, I'm at a new school with better Admin support, I'm teaching graphic design and computer art, and just getting into the swing of living away from home for a second year in a row!
I'm adulting, guys, and I'm not doing half bad, I don't think :)
anyways, I wanted to give a shout out. Next week is my Birthday (Thursday, the 20th) and I know this is a bit last minute but if anyone wanted to give me something to celebrate, art is always acceptable, especially art featuring any of my OCs (https://toyhou.se/NotAGoddess/characters). Feel free to draw them with your characters, draw me and you, whatever. I LOVE ART FROM FRIENDS OR STRANGERS :DDD

Looking into my next sweet tablet setup
Posted 7 years agoAlright, so my wacom intuos 4 has been one of my best purchases of all time, no doubt, and I have definitely profited off of it, I am really proud of it. I have come to decide, however, that I really want to move on and try something newer, fancier, and still functional for my purposes.
Being a teacher, I am not so sure a cintiq is really my next best choice, especially because I really, really want a tablet that is also a laptop so I'm looking at things like the surface pro or thinkpad, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these or something similar?
Mainly, I will be getting clip studio paint to go with the new set up because I freaking love really smooth line art lol. That's where I am most nervous, though, as it looks like jitter hasn't exactly been well addressed with these? Although I did manage to make that work on my friend's thinkpad, though with a bit of more struggle than I was used to, but because I did find success I wonder if I can find ways to compensate and eventually find my flow again.
Let me know if anyone else has had some experience with this and advice you may have?

For a while now I have been considering posting more of my other art here as well. Originally I was just posting furry/anthro art since I knew it would definitely be appreciated here, and it has been because this site is awesome and full of nothing but support and friends so far!
The downside of doing this, however, is that you only get updates from me on occasion since I do not draw furries/anthroes all the time, since I like to do a little bit of everything, and then my account just becomes a ghost for a while. I also feel like, since the other art I do often features my OCs, as well as my interests, you guys only get a small glimpse into my work and me and what I can do. I really want to share more here, especially stuff I know this site would be more comfortable seeing than other sites (I'm thinking minor TF art maybe? Nothing intense, I like to keep this account mostly SFW, but you know.... :P)
So I hope that's cool. I don't intend on backlogging my art over here, that would just be spam, but I may slowly upload some older stuff to help give context for future works :)
Let me know your thoughts? I've already started sharing some of my other stuff so I hope you don't mind, but I figured I would give a head's up of what's to come :)

Who is your hero? My dad
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? I can't think of anywhere in the real world I'd be overtly attached to so I'm going to go with fiction and say Star Wars world or maybe something more magical, like the Buffyverse?
What is your biggest fear? Failing so bad that I can't support myself when I fall, I guess?
What is your favorite family vacation? My family didn't do vacations growing up, but I loved visiting Thermopolis with my friends' family :)
What would you change about yourself if you could? My online social anxiety. It's funny because in person I do okay interacting with people and putting myself out there (although I've been a bit reclusive this year because I've got a busy job on my plate and that's been enough) but online, I am terrified of noting or contacting people. I'm worried I come off as too intense n_n;
What really makes you angry? People who are grossly unwilling to see things from other perspectives to the point of being hurtful about it.
What motivates you to work hard? An equal balance between a love for challenge and a fear of failure lol
What is your favorite thing about your career? The goofball kids I meet and the ones who take what I teach and apply it in other stuff outside my classroom :) (Also I'm an art teacher XD)
What is your biggest complaint about your job? Often being the only adult in the room and having no easy guide on how to be a teacher lol Also the fact that my work doesn't stop at work, I have to take some home often.
What is your proudest accomplishment? Moving on my own to an entirely different state from where I was born and raised and doing pretty damn okay in the process of getting my bachelor's :)
What is your child's proudest accomplishment? Not existing :P
What is your favorite book to read? Vamped by David Sosnowski or Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
What makes you laugh the most? The list is very long, I'm pretty easy to make chuckle lol
What was the last movie you went to? New Jumanji, it was pretty fun considering I went in expecting something pretty rough :)
What did you want to be when you were small? Depending on how small we're talking, I have a journal from kindergarten stating me wanting to be a hippopotamus when I grew up, later I went into the good ol' veterinarian phase, and after that into writer/artist lol
What does your child want to be when he/she grows up? Move out in a timely manner, I'd hope? I don't have any so I'm just winging it lol
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be? Sleep in as long as I want, binge a favorite show, and do art without fear of art block :)

What is your favorite family vacation? My family didn't do vacations growing up, but I loved visiting Thermopolis with my friends' family :)
What would you change about yourself if you could? My online social anxiety. It's funny because in person I do okay interacting with people and putting myself out there (although I've been a bit reclusive this year because I've got a busy job on my plate and that's been enough) but online, I am terrified of noting or contacting people. I'm worried I come off as too intense n_n;
What really makes you angry? People who are grossly unwilling to see things from other perspectives to the point of being hurtful about it.
What motivates you to work hard? An equal balance between a love for challenge and a fear of failure lol
What is your favorite thing about your career? The goofball kids I meet and the ones who take what I teach and apply it in other stuff outside my classroom :) (Also I'm an art teacher XD)

Fursona name change?
Posted 8 years agoSoooo as some of you may know, I am really new to having a fursona and Cobalt's origins are rather ironic and I just sort of loved what I came up with XD
I've been changing and tweaking her as I go, trying to make her as perfect for me as I can, from changing her color scheme from just various shades of blue to now having a splash of purple in there, and making other changes, like trying to make her face shape look more raptor-like than draconic or reptilian. I've also made her more feathery than scaly, especially with her poofy bob :)
Now I'm considering whether or not I'd like to keep the name "Cobalt." On one hand, it does sound cool still, and as I was reminded by
, it is a pretty rockin' element. That being said, I did literally just name her Cobalt because it's another word for blue, just like her, so it really wasn't that creative of a name on my part XD
So I've been considering, instead, naming her Nova because stars are kind of my thing? I've always signed my i for my real name with a star ever since I was little, plus my ponysona has stars as her motif, so it seems like it would be fitting for that theme. In addition, I am planning on adding star dust to her feathers for her design so Nova goes with galaxy and....I'm really just a child of my generation and we all know how we freaking adore those galaxies :P
So I thought I'd post this to the void, see what feedback I could get?
