Update/New Year's Resolutions?
Posted 7 years agoHey, guys! How is everyone?! I feel like I never check in much, so I apologize for that. I'm going to try to do a better job of being more active/engaging over here on FA (and on dA/Instagram as well). Life kind of kicked my butt this past year, so I'm hoping this year I'll be able to stay more on top of it. That's more or less a New Year's resolution for me lol.
Quick life update: I'm about to start grad school! I'm excited/nervous haha. Excited for the doors it'll open and nervous about what it'll do to my hobby time. Regardless, art is still something important to me, so I'll still keep on doing it, even if it's something I have to work in between work and assignments. Also, the money from commissions will come in handy to help offset some of the cost, so if you're wanting one, you can check out my dA journal here: https://x-rainflame-x.deviantart.co.....ints-352657567 or give me a few days and I'll post a simplified version :)

Rain, Why Haven't You Been, Like, Making Art?
Posted 11 years agoAn excellent question, I'm glad you asked :D
I haven't been making art because my computer is having a hard time dealing with life right now. My art program takes up too much memory, I guess, and all the sudden my program started crashy crashing every time I open it. It takes hours to accomplish what should take a few minutes, so I figured a better use of my time would be working on some traditional stuff until the computer I just ordered comes in. I got one with enough memory to support my programs, so I don't think that'll be a problem anymore :D You know, once it comes in.
But this computer has now set me back quite a few bucks that I really sort of need for those little things. . . like, food and stuff. So when it gets here, I'll be opening commissions like crazy, so prepare for that! :D
On that same note, does anyone have any interest in traditional commissions? I don't have much but half-finished work from the past couple of weeks, but I do have these two pics from my gallery:

And I can happily say I've improved my techniques since then xD As soon as I finish something, I'll upload it. We could completely work out shipping and such. Just seeing if there was some interest out there, because I can work on those things, like, now.

Baaaaaack c:
Posted 11 years agoWell, I'm back from my vacation! :D I'm sure not many here knew I was gone . . . because I've got the memory of an octogenarian and totally forgot to mention it over here. It was super nice, though. We went to the beach, and the worst thing that happened was that as I was frolicking in the surf, I apparently ran into a jellyfish xD That was a bit painful, but I walked away from it (ie: jumped/swam/limped/flailed). I was super graceful about it, as you can imagine.
Ahem.
Ooooh, and now I have a tan! :D People no longer shield their eyes as the drive down the street. Always a definite plus.
Anywho, I've got a lot of stuff to work on this summer. My to-do list is kind of huge xD Lots of writing and art projects, as well as career-related ones. I'm giving voice/piano/art lessons this summer, and I just found out that I'll be directing a middle school choir next year :D I'm super excited, but kind of terrified lol. At least I'm moving up in the world and getting closer to my ultimate career goal: teaching at a college.
As far as art and writing, I'm working with a friend on her kid's book, designing my brother's album cover, and then various other things for people here and there. Also this summer, I have every intention of writing a novel (sort of my own NaNoWriMo thing xD) in addition to teaming up with a couple of other fan fiction writers to do some FMA fics.
The madness never ends. And I guess that's how I like it lol.
So I'm off to respond to comments that have accumulated in my absence and construct the mother of all to-do lists. Wish me luck xD Hopefully I'll be a bit more active around here with some art! That would be peachy, wouldn't it? ;D

Updates/Commissions
Posted 12 years agoWell, I'm back from my trip! I had a blast being someplace pretty with an ocean xD It was wonderful and refreshing and it's definitely been a mood-boost for me. I even got a tan, so I don't look like death warmed-over anymore :D
Though I am glad to be back and working on art/fanfictions/plotting my own novel. So many things to do, so little time. It seems like I'm running just to catch myself half the time :'D
In other, almost random news, I went to get pizza tonight and when I walked in, this dude started flirting with me. He was really sweet about it, but he was definitely not my type haha. Then as I was leaving, I had my windows rolled down and was singing along to the "Newsies" at the top of my lungs and got cat-called by some dude in a truck (not classy men, don't do it lol).
These things never happen to me. I think it's the tan. I no longer resemble the living dead :D
