1. Reveille and the Swingin' Tails - 1 hour Jazz concert.

Mascha on vocals,

therion87 on electric guitar. Concert is on Friday at 6:30pm on Main Stage.

2. Furry Musicians Jam Session - This is an open format jam session for all musicians. Not sure if there will be outlets for amplifiers or not, but since it's in the convention center, probably not. Bring them anyway, just in case, but keep in mind, you're only allowed to bring gear into the convention center if it's one load you can carry (not wheel) yourself. :P I'll have corny Americana music that's easy to play, a 13 piece Appalachian Spring adaptation, and various chord charts for blues and whatnot. Folks can bring whatever additional material they like! :D The goal is mostly a meet and greet and to play some great jams!

Firstly, if you're going to Further Confusion in January, I wanted to let any interested parties know that I've submitted a panel for a jam session to FC's events staff. I don't know if it'll get approved, but if it does, the intent is to make something of an experiment. All musicians are welcome, electric or acoustic, but you'll need to bring your own amplification if it's the former. I have no times and no dates as of yet, and I don't even know if they'll accept it. If not, I may do it anyway in the hallway. My old idea for this was a community band, but I want to make sure the message gets out there first, and maybe start some sort of grass roots thing, before I attempt something more organized. SIGNAL BOOST IS APPRECIATED! :P :P :P
Secondly, The Swingin' Tails should be playing again at Further Confusion in January, pending, again, FC event staff approval. No idea of date and time yet, but expect it to be an awkward slot, as usual. We have a slightly altered line-up this year. We lost Toki, the keyboardist, but we gained Mascha on vocals, Ivan Horse on trombone, and Seela on electric guitar. It should be an exciting show. AGAIN, SIGNAL BOOST IS APPRECIATED!!! :P :P :P
And thirdly, if any musicians are going to MFF, I'll have my horn, so you should bring yours and we can jam/noodle/play duets. :P

Posted 11 years agoI'm going! It'll be my first RainFurrest! I'm rooming with Orzel, bringing SanSkritch the filthy tiger, Picardy the magpie, and a new donkey I picked up, Inkblot. I'll be stealing souls with my camera, and will have my trumpet on me, just in case the occasion to play arises. :) I will also be drinking muchly and enjoying other local, legal pleasures, as things permit. :P

We all have triggers. They could be big, small, real, imagined, serious, stupid. But they're triggers nonetheless.
I decided to try a new method of venting. I wrote out a symbolic narrative of the course of my depressions, then recorded myself reading it. Turned out like beat poetry, but whatever. It helped, so I'm cool with it.
I like validation as much as the next gal, so here you go. Maybe you can relate.

Not perfect, and not terribly happy with my solos, but it was a fun performance, and our tightest yet. Unfortunately, I know dick about sound processing, so it sounds a little hollow.

I didn't feel really driven to take many con photos this year, which is sort of becoming the norm. I know people love seeing their suits in photos, and I know I can take reasonably decent photos, but I just spent more time in my room and other people's rooms socializing. It was hard to tear myself away for the purpose of stalking through the hallways stealing souls, especially when I know there are other people out there taking more photos, so I don't feel any sort of obligation to deliver. :P I do wish that more of the people who took photos ACTUALLY PUBLISHED THEM SOMEWHERE DECENT.
Frolic was another matter. That's a limited area, with opportunities for a lot of weird lighting. I think my set's a little lacking, overall, since I was having issues dialing in the flash. I also need to lower my ISO; there's WAY too much noise in a lot of the shots. Also, I need to do exposure comparisons between computers. When I looked at the system on two machines, the photos looked fine, but the third they all looked blown out. And all three systems seemed at the same brightness. Also, after going through 233 photos, the world looked a little pale, due to the red cast over everything. I could have white balanced it, but then I lose the lighting of the moment. Meh!
Whatevs! Can tune for color, but not brightness! Such is life.
