New FurAffinity Account
Posted 8 years agoI was able to obtain the account
deer recently. It is likely that I will be transitioning over to that account for artwork. More specifically, I will be working to take commissions more steadily throughout the year. If you would like to continue seeing my artwork, please watch me there!
Since my mom,
joined the fandom, this whole name thing has confused a few people (her name is Sandy). Not to mention, Sandi is no longer the name of my main fursona. Hopefully, this will make things clearer in the future.
I hope to see some of you over there!

Since my mom,

I hope to see some of you over there!
Experimental Inktober Commissions [$20 each!]
Posted 9 years agoSign up for a $20 experimental, artistic liberty commission for inktober! Each one will be in the medium of ink and watercolor, and correspond in some way to the prompt of the day. Once a prompt is reserved, no one else may claim that prompt!
NOTES:
` Each day's drawing may not be completed on the corresponding day of the month. I will try to get them done as close to that date as possible!
` These can be shipped! Contact me with your zip code for shipping information. Unfortunately I cannot ship outside of the U.S.
` These can be picked up at local events, such as the York Furbowl, as requested!
` My terms of service still apply to these commissions. Please view them here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7574700/
` The price has been lowered on these specific commissions due to their experimental nature. That being said, it should be expected that the outcome may differ from some of my normal work. There may be a background, there may not be. It may be monochromatic, or colored. The results will vary.
` Once I have completed a sketch for you, I will message you for approval. Afterwards, I will request payment before completing the painting.
` Payment should be sent via Paypal when requested

FurTheMore 2016 Summary
Posted 9 years agoWow! What a contrast this convention was in comparison to Anthrocon 2015! If you're curious about that experience, see the summary from last year here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6886796/
Around noon on Thursday, I began my short journey from Pennsylvania to Virginia. I was very fortunate to be able to carpool with a local friend, Leostarr. He was good conversation, and a good driver. If I had to be stuck in a car for two and a half hours with anyone, it'd be this lion. We took a route that greatly upset our GPS, but it was far preferred to taking busier, less scenic roads. We only got a little bit lost, and made great time! Now that I've played the passenger-seat position of navigator, I can confidently say that I could drive the route to Virginia without much GPS assistance. This is going to be handy in the future, because I'd love to attend more conventions and furmeets in that area!
We arrived at our good friend tigris and cheesebeagle 's home in the mid afternoon, and enjoyed homemade tacos for dinner. I stayed together with the two of them, and Spiffyfox for the weekend. As for Thursday evening, we were able to pop by the convention center so that those of us who pre-registered could pick up badges. There were plenty of suiters milling about already. I even had the opportunity to meet Snap of bycats4cats , who built my mom's suit, wyspurr just a short while back, as well as leostarr 's head. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to make it to this convention to meet him herself. Anthrocon, though... Anthrocon! The mood was fouled for a little bit in the evening when a suiter spilled some sort of alcohol on the marble floor of the lobby, which wasn't cleaned up for over an hour. Our group had to be a little bit creative in trying to steer away poor-sighted fursuiters from walking through the puddle, and ended up placing a stack of chairs over the mess. We were a little disappointed about how low a priority that this safety hazard took, despite multiple reports to hotel and convention staff. Otherwise, this was mainly the only gripe I had during the entire convention. I'd consider that pretty impressive.
On Friday, the real fun began! I did attend Opening Ceremonies, but I ended up leaving early in order to shuttle my belongings to our hotel room once we had access to it. After unloading the cars, spiffyfox and I made our way to the 'I Made it Myself' photoshoot and panel. I think the highlight of that panel was a sheep suit named Bing, created by bouncybatworks. It was a truly unique and gorgeous fursuit! Not to mention, I'm weak to the draw of cute hoofers. She, and several others were kind enough to share their methods and processes for creating their own personal fursuits. I learned a couple of handy things, should I ever take up another fursuit project again.
On Friday evening, cheesebeagle and I decided to mess with some people, and swapped suits for an hour or so. I didn't think it was possible for another person to fit in my head, but lo' and behold, the beagle managed it. This was a really fun experience for me, because I'd never been in a fullsuit before. Given, I looked like a shar-pei x beagle mix, and the head was huge on me, but it was fantastic. We fooled sharky , at least briefly into thinking that I was Cheese. I guess it was a dead giveaway that I wasn't talking, or interrupting his panel entirely. I am also sure that Cheese Beagle and I will forever cherish the look on IndigoAngelCat 's face when she hugged me, and then realized that Cheese was a bit too short. Nonetheless, I took a lot out of the experience. Seeing my character interact with people in front of me in ways that I had never considered really opened up my mind to furthering Cricket's character development. I borrowed some of Cheese's ideas later. I hope he didn't mind :p
The fursuit photoshoot and parade took place on Saturday, and was far less of an ordeal than at the New Years Furry Ball (oops, I never did a writeup on that one!). We didn't have to stand still for too terribly long, and some kind people allowed a smol deer to move to the front to be more easily seen. Still, the angle of the photograph doesn't seem to have captured the sheer amount of suiters that were there! A lot of people were cut out from standing behind taller folks. I think that the count was something like 220 fursuiters, but the fursuit parade was remarkably short for that amount. cheesebeagle mentioned that it would have been a better idea to have spread out the pairs, and when I look at the videos, I can definitely see that we were all too close together. However, this was my first fursuit parade, and I'd like to think of it as a practice run for the much longer Anthrocon parade in a few months! Other Saturday events included eating at Smashburger (yum!) and finally commissioning ailuranthropy --who later got sick and had to go home. I hope that you're doing better now, Sean!
The top highlight of my weekend came on Saturday night, with the Chimaera Challenge. Paired up with cheesebeagle , tigris , spiffyfox , tehalbi , and kesthewolf , we formed the team known as the Sticker Collective! I was surprised by how well everyone worked together, despite the stressful time constraints. Using yours truly as a model, the creation known as Snu-Snu the Angel Dragon was born! We managed to build some semblance of a fullsuit, which was a huge challenge. It ended up being several fabric pieces draped onto me, and then tied together with little yarn bows. The head looked like... a head. It could have been a lot worse. My friends fawnlace and ailuranthropy loved Snu-Snu so much that they made him gorgeous badges--now added to my badge collection that hangs on my window curtains. On Sunday, Snu-Snu was announced to be the first place winner of the Chimaera Challenge, much to the surprise of my team! We had very stiff competition! As a victory lap, Snu-Snu played one fursuit game and miraculously did not fall to pieces. Snu-Snu also visited velantian in order to have a tintype photo taken, so that he could be forever preserved in history. I almost feel bad for making the poor photographer take the time to photograph this beautiful monstrosity. Almost.
A lot of Sunday was spent wrapping up, packing, settling down, and saying goodbyes. Over the entirety of the convention, I had collected what deer-related goodies that I could find, which had amounted to 7 buttons and a keychain (Thanks cheesebeagle and tigris <3). I decided at the last minute to bid on a deer-related painting in the art show by indigoangelcat. It was too cute and too unique to let go, so I ended up taking it home with me. After closing ceremonies, several of us headed back to cheesebeagle and tigris 's house for a lovely pasta dinner and some party games. This was honestly a very nice way to end the convention-- surrounded by friends in a calm, personal setting. I was able to get to know sharky and furio a little better, and they seem like super cool folks! I'm hoping to get to know them better in the future. I'm sure sharky would love to get to know my parents, so I can definitely see myself setting them up to meet each other during Anthrocon. Finally, at the end of the night, leostarr and I said our last goodbyes to our friends and headed back to Pennsylvania. I was very sad to go, but I just can't wait to do another convention with these people again. I consider myself to be very lucky to have such close, wonderful friends. They made such a huge difference between my experience this convention and my experience at Anthrocon last year. I can't wait to come to FurTheMore again!
Some other honorable mentions that got lost in my mental timeline!
` I met potatogriff finally! I've been hearing about her from all of my friends, and it was about time! She is so sweet!
` I met a cool blue tiger dude named Nova/Maverick! He gives good hugs!
` The worst Subway service I've ever had! Almost comically so!
` I got a piggyback ride in suit from fawnlace. Yeehaw!
` I dropped a cat on tigris to wake her up. Er.. sorry Tig! D':
` I got to meet and chat with crazdude and birdfox , who I have been told to commission by tehalbi
` I watched Cheese drown his pasta in cheese!

Anthrocon 2015 Summary
Posted 10 years agoThis was my experience and my experience alone! Understand that I attended this convention under the circumstances that I was alone, with limited knowledge of the convention, and few friends in the community. This certainly is not every fur's experience at the convention!
Anthrocon 2015 was not my first convention, but it was my first furry convention. It was also my first time to Pittsburgh, a city which I was duly impressed by! I want to say that it was a perfect trip, but it left me with some mixed feelings. I attended the convention whilst rooming in a hotel with my parents. They were not convention attendees, and instead opted to roam the city and its surrounding tourist attractions.
I had stressed myself a great deal to finish my partial of Cricket the deer the week of Anthrocon, which was a poor decision on my part. Still, Cricket was finished and I was content with my first fursuit partial. I received a lot of positive feedback on him, especially on hiding my seams well! This was encouraging, as I actually taught myself to sew on this whole first endeavor. My little stuffed antlers were rushed, so I'd like to redo them. I still have a lot to learn, for sure.
My biggest problem at Anthrocon was that I did not explore the vast majority of the convention. I had a very difficult time navigating the provided maps (sometimes thanks to poor fursuit vision). For some reason, I always found myself in sparsely crowded panels and areas of the convention. I never seemed to be where other people were. Despite this, I was able to run into my favorite fursuiter, lyudmylah ! She was part of my inspiration in designing a character that was a deer. As expected, she was very kind to me when I approached her, despite looking a bit overheated. I met a few other deer, too. Underclocked has just picked up a really well-done deer partial at the convention, and was nice enough to let me admire it for a few minutes. I also met a fella named Roderick deer who doesn't have an FA yet, but he had made a very nice deer head for himself! For most of the convention, I spent my time in the unlikely company of a cool lion called leostarr. He was kind enough to show me around to places I never would have known about otherwise.
This is my grumpy paragraph, so if you want to skip over me complaining, jump ahead. Outside of those cool people mentioned above, I was a little disappointed with the quality and quantity of social interaction for the extent of the convention. Friday was discouraging, because I only seemed to get into socially awkward conversations with people who didn't want to continue a conversation, or just plain didn't know how to. Discussing innapropriate subjects with strangers is a real put-off for me. Like, I'm sorry, but I don't need to know that you wear Depends just so you don't have to get out of your fursuit to pee. I'm definitely not an extrovert, or even charismatic, but I can at least keep a casual conversation going with someone who shares a common interest. I even had one fellow who 'allowed' me to get onto the elevator before him, and then rambled about his 'chivalrous ways'. I was left wondering where his neckbeard and fedora were. Before the convenetion, my goal was to hook up with an established group of people and make some friends to eat meals and hang with. This never happened. Most of my meals were with my parents, which was nice because it meant that I was getting good-quality food to keep me going. I also meant to volunteer this year as a means of meeting people. However, the first place that con-ops sent me to volunteer had staff who had no idea why me and the volunteers were even sent there. Just as well, the other volunteers were awkwardly discussing the Pennsylvania cities of Intercourse and Blueballs, and making up stories about how they might have gotten their names. Needless to say, it was a little uncomfortable, so I left without volunteering at all. I figure that I might try again next year. There is a good chance that I will meet new furs in the community and strengthen my existing friendships through attending our local furbowls. I think that being in the under-21 crowd puts me at a disadvantage, because I cannot even enter bars to mingle with groups, even if I had no plans of drinking.
Otherwise, the panels and events that I attended were quite fun! The Opening Ceremonies were charming, and you can't really ask for much better than the San Diego Chicken eating Kimlinh Tran's head. I took a break from the convention on Saturday morning to visit Pittsburgh Zoo with my parents. Doing so, I opted not to attend the parade. I wasn't up to sweating outside in the parade (especially with the concern about the parade's first endeavor into the public), but I'm glad that it went so well for those who participated. The Pittsburgh Zoo was nice, and I came out of it with a stuffed buck and red panda. Of the panels that I attended, Uncle Kage's Story Hour was my for-sure favorite. This panel was one of the main drawing factors for me to register for Anthrocon, as I've seen many of his past story hours posted on Youtube. kagemushi is a multitalented comedian, chairman, scientist, philanthropist, and wine-drinking cockroach. Next year, I definitely mean to attend Floor Wars, the Parade, and the Masquerade. In my few trips to the Dealer's Room, I came out with a Fursuit Supplies LED orange collar, a kirin sticker, a 'certified deer' badge, an acrylic Whitetail Deer species badge, a bottlecap deer pin, and a deer magnet (which I have misplaced and am still searching for).
For the sake of my parents having enough rest to return to work on Monday, we packed up and left on Sunday around 12:30pm. I watched a good portion of the dance competition livestream on the four hour drive home. Lo and Behold, my parents were so impressed by the convention and its reception in Anthrocon that they started talking about what animals they might be. My mother has decided that she is probably a furry at heart and has started planning her tiger fursona out with me. She wants to consider commissioning an artist for a partial, and has expressed interest in Bycats4cats already. The last I heard, my dad wanted to build his own partial, once he decides his species. I think I have them thoroughly converted. Thanks for that, Anthrocon. The convention may not have been a blast for me personally, but we may return as a fully furry family at next year's convention.
TL;DR : Anthrocon wasn't perfect, but it was because I missed out on a lot and didn't have anyone to hang with. I'll try harder next year!
