What I've been up to
General | Posted 16 years agoThe first week of my second year at college is over, and I'm happy, but beat. No, not happy... contentment is more like the word.
You see, last year didn't go all so well. Exited over entering college, I stacked a huge workload on my plate, and very soon I ended up burning out. Also, I didn't really know how to handle the concept of academic freedom, which only sunk me deeper into the mire of trouble I was in.
So there. I'm happy to be able to make a new start and be doing something worthwhile for a change, but I'm also not happy since I know this is just the beginning, and I'm already physically exhausted.
I hope I can get the hang of this soon enough, get used to spending a lot of time studying. I wouldn't want to repeat what happened last year.
How does any of this concern you?
Well, for starters it'll be sure to impact on my already erractic updating schedule (not that I ever really had one, mind you). Nowadays when I get home, I don't feel like drawing, I feel like sleeping. Maybe when I've rectified my faulty sleeping habits (sometime next week, I swear) and no longer feel tired during the day, I'll have the energy to draw at least as often as I did before or maybe even more.
I didn't give you a heads up on this before, because I didn't know how much of an effect it would have, but now that the first week is past I can say it'll be measurable.
Don't worry, though. If only for the sake of practice, I'll be at least be sketching things, from life and otherwise. I know they're not as nice as finished pieces, but you've got to roll with what you've got.
Naturally, I'll make an exception to all this for the lovely
claire_lamouf. To you I'll draw with all my might, from all my heart, as cheesy as it might sound.
Thanks for reading. (:

For your information,
General | Posted 16 years agorequests are now closed. I'll probably take more when I finish most of what I have waiting in line at the moment, but at my current pace that will be a long time coming.
You see, I've sort of put requests on hold momentarily, because of something I read recently. In a strange way, it was incredibly inspiring, but also disheartening at the same time.
This is my disillusionment: I suck. But realizing that you suck is the first step forward to becoming better, right? At least, I hope so.
It's at times like this that I lose confidence in my abilities, so I go back to drawing realism from life or photographs. Why? Because it's easy. A lot, lot easier than trying to use "simpler", more cartoony styles, and it makes good practice. And as we all well know, practice is the way out of the mire of suck I'm stuck at, currently.
So unless your request involved realism, I hope you can handle a little wait. One question still remains, though... should I or should I not upload my non-furry realistic art?

Listen, so here's the deal...
General | Posted 16 years agoI'm accepting requests until further notice. Oh yes, all for the low low price of free.
There's a couple of points I'd like to bring into your attention, though. I was going to do this on a first come, first served basis, but after a moment's contemplation I decided it was a pretty stupid idea. Muses are flighty things and in accordance with that, I'm going to go on about this by starting with the ones that inspire me the most.
So give me an interesting enough request, and you might just jump to the front of the line. I am after all just one man, so apologies to those who will have to wait. But don't sweat, I WILL get around to them all, eventually.
Please comment here if you want a request, so that I can neatly keep track of them all. (:
Oh yeah, and since this is FurAffinity, I think this needs to be said. I will draw anything, as long as it's tasteful.
Cheers,
